During the scene in which Chris is chopping his thumb with the meat cleaver, the cleaver was a real one. Christian Bachini got so carried away by the scene that he ended up hitting his real hand with the blade instead of the prosthetic attachment. The wound had to be covered in make up in order to complete the shoot.

Alternate versions
The Director's Cut, running 28 minutes, was deemed too gory and violent even from specific horror related Film Festivals that suggested director Christian Bachini to tone down the gore.

Over the top fun

Escalation is everything a horror comedy fan could ask for. I love that Christian "Kang" Bachini wears his Evil Dead influences on his sleeve without it feeling like a rehashing of material. Escalation is over the top wild fun with enough gore to please any horror fan. I'm a huge slapstick guy as well & loved the incorporation in this short. Thank you -LFHG.
