Postives 1. Dhanush style movie Making , and his presence, makes a good watch 2. Samyukta menon , gives me crushing moment , and her presence also good 3. Sai Kumar comedy timing is great , many everyone laughed in the theatre 4. Telugu actors comedy , bharatiraja sir cameo .
Negatives 1. Samuthirakani sir acting is too basic for villain , has it was made for family it's OK, don't expect sir great act.
2. Plot is simple , it can be easily predictable, but it's fast paced too , so it's OK
Special mentions : Man , this has less support compare to other Tamil movies , which was had nothing but cringe ,so please bring your family and support it , otherwise you will be left cringe only.

Special thanks to dhanush for thinking out of the box and that too bilingual flick tasting the success that's sounds great, his presence and the way he carries out onscreen is a major asset to the movie,a well deserved success even better then previous outing....
G.v prakash bgm and couple of songs are soul of the movie....
Heroine portion could have been omitted nothing gain and just added runtime....
Director should have been a student and his inspiration of his guru should have been based on true incidents does give us a neat and real commercial success....
Overall a neat family entertainer that highlights the student and teacher relationship and the value of education.

Vaathi/Sir:
Nothing to complain, movie is okayish.
Just that I didn't like a few portions was in Telugu, could see the mouth not syncing in Tamil.
Pros: Dhanush's acting, cinematography, good acting by the other actors, good message about caste Cons; this social message about education would not work for this generation especially for 2K kids but it's okay good try! Lengthy screenplay. Music could've been better
A good one by Dhanush, wouldn't complain much but a good one to watch with your family. Kids should watch this one for the message.
Overall: 6/10.
Typing randomly to reach the limit.

I don't know why people are under rating this kind of movies, this movies present bitter truth of this era. There is no vulgarity simple and sober movie, Dhanush never disappoint with his acting, a simple story each seen make you feel reality. In 21st century education become a business, goverment school and colleges are shutting down because of lack of students presence and teacher are spending more time with private and corporate classes. One thing bitter to accept that South movies are better than Bollywood, there is not a single kissing or romantic scene , no item song, proper dressing sense you can enjoy movie with your family too.
Overall movie is one time watch but must watch.

A bi-lingual but feels more like a Telugu film only.
The film starts with a serious backstory with a serious characterization of an artist who has been declared as an ag-mark comedian, you need to deliberately skip that fact to continue with the seriousness of the film.
The flashback part of the film portrays the protagonist's character as something magnanimous played by Dhanush, although he justifies the role with his shuttle kinda acting skills, it doesn't really suit him much with the kinda hype given to his character.
There were few emotional sequences that keep you held if you're an emotional idiot
the film attacks the educational institutions big time with a good plot & screenplay with some twists & turns around it, it feels more like watching a commercialized version of the Super 30 film.
Overall, it's a good one-time watch for everybody.

This movie is amazing. D literally lived in this character. The first half was decent and the second half was excellent. Supoorting actors acted well and the heroine was cute and had more space screen than usually. Dhanush and Samukta formed a cute pair and she can remember some of our teachers. GV music and Bgm were incredible. Fights were terrific. The were some flaws in the dubbing. Samutrakani did his job well. The screen play was super and Dialogues are the next positive in the movie: they are really impactful. The message is needed. Venki did his best: Vaathi is a lesson that we have to learn.

Venky Atluri's Vaathi is about Bala, an assistant third grade teacher at a private school, who is redirected to a village government school on a program established by a private education corporation. Seeing the lack of interest the parents and children there have in education due to labor and vices, Bala changes their mind and brings them into school. But shortly after he learns Thirupathi has no interest in their well being and wants them to fail. So the movie becomes about how he overcomes the obstacles and helps the kids in the village get a state rank and make their dreams come true.
The movie's premise is by no means very fresh, it is a premise we have seen multiple times in movies like Super 30. But that's is no big deal as it's a relevant issue and with good taking it can be an interesting watch. It ends up doing a decent job but multiple cliches are present. The acting is what really saves it especially with the emotional scenes, and the emotional scenes are actually well written too. The movie could have been a good one with fresh execution.
After watching so much commercial cinema from India, I'm confused why we always make the antagonist entirely evil. I get the idea of fighting a corporate, done right it is exciting every time. But that's not the case here, Samuthikarani plays Thirupthi an evil to the core corporate with zero redeeming factors. I don't get why he needs to be so evil to the core, why can't he have some relatable shades to him and make him a grounded character. Even Samuthikarini has been typecasted into these kinds of crappy villain roles these days which is unfortunate.
The best part of the film is Dhanush as Bala sir and the students. Each of the child actors have done a fantastic job, especially the one playing Muthu. I really connected with the character despite catching on soon this will the AM Kumar played by Sumanth. Sumanth has a nice cameo. Sai Kumar had a nice role which he definitely played well as usual. Dhanush as Bala sir was too good, he elevated this movie which was good in parts and brought that feel good aspect with his acting and the child actors'.
Another issue with the film was the conclusion. The children came to learn about Bala sir and then we learn he is in Ooty. But it did not make sense that the children who came to learn about him did not learn anything further about him nor even concluded that plot thread. I felt a better conclusion could have been given the present storyline.
GV Prakash gives a good background score and another fantastic aspect of the movie is the cinematography. The village is so authentic and the 90s are portrayed so well. Some hairstyles looked more modern, but apart from that good.
I liked some scenes like the one which teaches the students equality and avoiding caste discrimination. It was a well done scene. I liked how he taught them different subjects and tested them on both. The monologues and how easily the people got convinced or clapped was a little annoying at times, making it feel preachy, but Dhanush makes it watchable. Some emotional scenes were good, but mainly due to acting than overall writing.
Overall, this is a village drama which reinforces the value of education. It works in parts. If you haven't seen movies like Super 30, following similar line, you will enjoy it more.

This movie is a Slipper Shot to the people who is Making Education as Business and labelling Students as their Products.
The Art flim making with a social message is beautifully handled, The Director and his team superbly worked on the screenplay for delivering right moments with the help of some iconic characters from Tamilnadu, That is Dr. APJ Sir, Mahakavi Bharathiyar and The Great Ravana.
This movie will be very close to your heart if you were one of the person who came out of Village where you had less schools with very less teachers.
All the actors nicely performed their Roles and The Music was outstanding.
Hats off to Dhanush for accepting this story and preformed very perfectly.
Teaching is the greatest Service and it is not a Business.

One of the best inspiring movie I ever seen. The screen play is very much interesting and many scenes are packed of goosebumps 🔥.......!
It resembles the exact situation of education scenario of present days.
The director have made the movie up to the 💯 level . The background music is well suited to the situation of the movie.
Mr. Dhanush have played the "bala sir" role which is well played (GREAT OF ALL TIME).
The main moto of the movie is based on the EDUCATION TO ALL .the movie is Talk's about the bad times of privatization of education. Which makes the difference in society.
⭐must watchable movie⭐

Illogical scenes and illogical story. Director concentrated on elevations to dhanush only.
1. Pumpset scene was overrated.
2. No one asked students why they go daily to the movie theatre that too in villages how irony is that.
3. Parents or atleast relatives didn't go along with students to write exams. Even president also.
4. Seriously no single parent not interested in children education till dhanush motivation speech.
Telugu directors are the Worst film makers in this world. They concentrates only on hero elevations and fights illogical scenes. They are not film makers they make audience fools.

Directed by Venky Atluri, "Vaathi (Sir)" is a compelling period action drama that delves into the complexities of the education system and the role of teachers in shaping young minds. Starring Dhanush in the leading role as Balu Sir, the film explores themes of commercialization, the rat race of education, and the transformative power of dedicated educators.
The storyline, while familiar, resonates deeply with audiences as it sheds light on the struggles faced by both students and teachers in today's society. Through Balu Sir's character, the film highlights the importance of quality education and the impact that passionate educators can have on their students' lives.
However, the inclusion of certain elements in the film, particularly the romantic subplot between Balu Sir and Meenakshi Ma'am (played by Samyuktha), feels somewhat forced and detracts from the overall narrative. Despite this, Dhanush delivers a standout performance, portraying Balu Sir with depth and sincerity.
Samuthirakani shines as the antagonist, portraying the ruthless owner of the Tripathi Education Group with conviction. His portrayal adds layers to the film's exploration of the commercialization of education and the corruption within the system.
While the film's message is powerful, its execution could have been tighter. The pacing feels uneven at times, and certain scenes come across as preachy rather than impactful. With more refined writing and editing, "Vaathi (Sir)" could have been even more effective in conveying its themes.
Overall, "Vaathi (Sir)" is a cinematic masterpiece with a strong message and compelling performances. Despite its flaws, it serves as a thought-provoking exploration of the education system and the individuals who strive to make a difference within it.

Well, first let me just say that I'm not usually the one that writes reviews! But wow! This movie is really underrated. The plot was solid 10/10 for me and the Dhanush's acting just the cherry on the top. Musical direction is also top notch. Granted, some of other cast performance was not that great (such as the lead actress). But overall, this was a solid film and they delivered it as promised.
I can't believe movies like Varisu or Thunivu has better viewership, but masterpieces like this left unnoticed. You're highly advised to watch this on theater! You won't regret it.
I'm not being biased, but this movie really stolen 10/10 from me.

From the moment the movie started I couldn't help but to shed tears for every scene because whatever happened in the movie is happening in real life. Dhanush's acting 10000/10 and Ken really brought life to the scenes. What a combo dhanush n Ken!! Not only both of them but everyone else who was involved in this movie did an amazing and excellent job. I'm glad I went for the movie. Education is like presatham, give it don't sell it. Gv Prakash my love, he did a fantastic job with the BGM and songs. Everything was on point. Stephen Zachariah's voice was a little auto tuned but I still loved the song one life. I hope more awareness movies will be made in the future.

India's, especially Tamilnadu's changed education landscape over the 50 years is showcased. The systematic erosion of Government (Public) education through political sell out to commercial Private education institutes is brought forward.
The situation is real but the root-cause is kept conveniently untouched - political exploitation and corruption
The lobby of private school owners is shown as all too powerful and capable of every kind of lawlessness to stop the Hero - a committed Government School teacher from teaching.
The reality of poor infrastructure and uncouth teachers in public school is not touched upon. Also, the Politician - Education-Business nexus is not highlighted Fair movie to see.

First of all, I would like to say thanks to Venky and Dhanush. After watching trailer I didn't get much expectations on this movie but it was super hit. Today watched on Netflix. What a screenplay. Got goosebumps on emotional scenes. Even cried in few scenes, don't know why but I connected to the movie. No boaring scenes. One good thing from direction point of view is, every character had importance. Sai Kumar sir great expressions. I saw many positive reviews, most of them said feel good movie and emotional but didn't applause the director. I am still thinking without screenplay and direction how the people well connected to the movie? Dhanush proven again as a correct judge in story selection. This might not be highest collected movie in his career but would become one of the memorable movie. Thanks to GV Prakash. Education means lord Saraswathi. Her music instrument is veena. So when people demolished the school place Saraswathi got anger that anger was shown in Veena music. Good one. Overall super movie.

I know they try to dumb down a script and try to make it simplistic. But you should not do it to an extent that it becomes unrealistic.
These kind of movies only inspire people but don't inspire change because solutions which are offered are way simplistic and are not possible.
I have been working in the Ed sector from 10 years; we definitely need more passionate educators like Baalu Sir but it's not going to be such an easy fight.
These movies show one GOD like person who comes to save people. If it were that easy, we'd have solved half of our problems. These issues are far more complicated and complex. The movie shows problems in a very very simple manner like everything is black and white.
Also change doesn't come so easily. It requires immense collective effort and time.
I wish these filmmakers would actually do some ground research and make real movies on real people who are actually doing some work.

This movie shows us the real meaning of Make in India. Padhega India, Tabhi toh Badhega India!! This movie shows the value of education. Dhanush always surprises us with something new. But Vaathi is something special, something different he did. Fantastic story, Superb performances, Mind blowing screenplay. Overall a full package of Magic.
Role of a teacher in our lives is unavoidable. A teacher does not teaches a student but makes a good human. If a teacher wants, can make someone star.
Overall I personally liked the movie so much. It touches my heart.
The first step of Make in India should be Educate India.

An outstanding film that will stand the test of times to come. Please watch this film if you care about education for all. It delivers a hard hitting message about the right to education and thanks to dhanush for accepting this story. If you have studied in or heard about Narayana and Chaitanya IIT and NEET coaching programmes, you will get connected to the movie. There are many goosebumps moments in the movie which will strike a cord with the audience. The background score is the soul of this movie, hats off to GV Prakash for giving such a sensible music. Last but not the least the director venky atluri should be appreciated for giving us this beautiful film which is definitely inspired by day to day events.

Education is everything and how valuable it is ..is portrayed in the film. So many of our teachers in our past did not make much money as we do today but they were much happy..! Watching us grow and learn. We can not get the peace and job satisfaction with 6 figure salary today that's irony isn't it. How capitalists and police people still make our lives miserable are relevant even today. Simple and effective story and narration. The hero role could not be played by anyone else but other than Dhanush. There is no mass masala in the movie no unnecessary forcefully induced obscenity or comedy scenes. Yes there is some boring drama in some scenes but to make a average person understand the importance of revolution and education the director chose to use some dramatic scenes, but education alone can not make better humans.. so so called bureaucrat's politicians ...IAS and IPS will not make our lives miserable which should also be made a point in the movies like this. Honestly educated criminal is dangerous than uneducated gunda....don't know when in India we will see this kind of real awakening..!!

Vaathi is such a great movie with an amazing message. Yes, parts of the movie can be a little dramatic. But it's all okay since it is firm on a brilliant message of giving education to backward and poor people of our community. Dhanush as the blameless teacher has really scored well throughout the movie. And the rest of the cast including Tanikela Bharani, Samuthirakani, Saikumar, Samyukta, etc., have done great. And it was a treat to see the great Bharatiraja do a cameo as well.
Today in India we see a lot of movies focusing on negative shade characters, drunkards, thieves, dons, etc., but nobody is really bothered about creating a movie focused on educated people who are actually contributing something to the society. This movie is a simple step towards changing this mindset. Hopefully, we will move away from violence in movies to more social causes and make positivity cool.

Personally I watch good movies of dhanush.
I went to vaathi movie today night as I saw good imdb score as well as review for this movie.
1. Starting scene itself a poor one.(Three boys moving to andhra scene) 2. Dhanush intro - fight with the gang who have beaten his students (old rotten build up scene) 3. No dialogues have felt emotional and meaningful to me.
4. When Dhanush gives advice, every student gets motivation or what and they go to school.(Not good) First half itself is boring.
5. Pumpset scene - after watching that scene I had the urge to go out of theatre but I calmed myself to see the full movie believing the story will go good. But nothing happened like that.
6. Poor set of dialogues and poor story development.
7. I don't feel like I am watching a movie in theatre.
It's running seperately and my mind is thinking like why they are taking scenes and movies like these still.
8. I like good messages even when the movie is bad. But in this movie I haven't seen a good message given to the audience. They provide only the info which is already known by people. So I don't feel any messages are worth from this movie.
Finally I say that don't watch this movie in theatres cause this will waste your time and money only.
