Ian and Emma have an argument over a jacket potato, visit her grumpy father, and cry at their son's grave before having dinner with their daughter and her pretentious boyfriend. Meanwhile, a gym employee thinks Ian is a creepy lecher.
Ian and Emma's anniversary starts badly when her father's oven breaks and Ian has a bad job interview. Then he finds out Emma's been keeping secrets. Their daughter is also having relationship problems with her manipulative boyfriend.
Emma stays overnight at a conference with her obnoxious boss while Ian spirals out of control due to his jealousy. Their daughter meets a nice waiter and decides to dump her boyfriend much to her parents' delight.
After leaving her boyfriend Ian and Emma's daughter moves in with them. Emma musters up the courage to confront her sleazy boss and her emotionally distant dad but will the family be able to open up to each other fully?
