Minka Kelly is getting ready to raise a glass to the holiday season with her forthcoming romantic-comedy feature for Netflix.
The Euphoria actress is set to star in Champagne Problems from writer-director Mark Steven Johnson. Kelly will play a mergers and acquisitions executive who heads to France just ahead of Christmas to finalize a deal for a beloved champagne brand. However, the situation gets complicated when she begins a whirlwind romance with a Parisian stranger who just happens to be the son of the champagne company’s founder.
The film’s release information and additional cast details are set to be announced at a later date.
Johnson previously helmed the streamer’s 2022 rom-com feature Love in the Villa that starred Kat Graham and Tom Hopper. Prior to that, he directed the 2020 Netflix movie Love, Guaranteed featuring Rachael Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr.

“Funny enough Evan helped start my career well over a decade ago and we have remained good friends ever since,” Graham told Deadline. “I have consistently turned to him for guidance over the years as I navigated my journey in this industry, and he has never steered me wrong. This is a natural alignment. I am very grateful to join forces with a great man and solid friend like him.”
Graham broke out with her series regular role as witch Bonnie Bennett across all eight seasons of The CW’s supernatural teen drama The Vampire Diaries, which aired between 2009 and 2017. By the time the title card drops in “A Tourist’s Guide To Love” (ten minutes in — the Netflix rom-com equivalent of the 40-minute wait in “Drive My Car”), we know exactly what we’re in for: The heartbroken heroine at the film’s center is going to experience a life-altering perspective shift via romance when embarking on a work trip. Acting as a travelogue for Vietnam with an adorable romantic comedy happening in the foreground, this sweetly spirited story isn’t terribly dissimilar from the streamer’s other offerings like “Love in the Villa” or “Resort to Love,” sating any viewers suffering from stunted wanderlust. Funny, poignant and simultaneously progressive and regressive, it may not add up to five-star escapism, but it’s a jovial jaunt worth taking.
High-powered Los Angeles travel agent Amanda Riley (Rachael Leigh Cook) is used to going above and beyond for her clientele, but not necessarily for herself.

There's a sibling duo hiding within the "Ginny & Georgia" cast. As many fans of the Netflix series have just discovered, the actors who play Joe and Padma - Raymond and Rebecca Ablack, respectively - are brother and sister in real life. Their characters only share one scene in the first season, but once Padma joins Ginny (Antonia Gentry) as an employee at Joe's Blue Farm Café in season two, their resemblance becomes more and more obvious by the episode.
Viewers learn way more about Joe and Padma individually as their characters develop in the show's latest installment. Joe forms a friendship-turned-romantic-fling with Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich), who often visits Blue Farm to drink wine and escape thoughts of her sick husband. Despite the brief hookup, Joe's soft spot for Georgia (Brianne Howey) remains constant, and it seems the feeling was mutual at one point when he confronts...

Rumors of Netflix’s demise may have been greatly exaggerated. That’s clear when looking at the top 10 most-streamed movies of the past weekend, at least according to Whip Media’s U.S. movie ranker, which reflects data from the past weekend from TV Time, a TV and movie app that tracks viewer interest across 22 million global registered users.
The key takeaway: Six of the 10 most viewed movies that were available on streaming services in the United States last weekend were on Netflix. And the top performer of the week — bumping Disney+’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” from the No. 1 spot — was Netflix’s “Do Revenge,” the new teen comedy flick starring Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke and Austin Abrams.
If you’re a fan of Alfred Hitchcock, you might want to check “Do Revenge” out, too, since it was inspired by his 1951 classic “Strangers on a Train.” In this revenge story — albeit,...

Turns out “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount/19.99) won’t match the multiple-week undisputed #1 run of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” earlier this year: On one VOD chart’s top 10, “Thor: Love and Thunder” (Disney/19.99) takes the lead.
Using chart positions to determine relative revenues is an imperfect gauge of success and “Maverick” does remain on top at both iTunes and Google Play. What makes “Thor” stand out is, unlike “Maverick,” it can also be seen free streaming for subscribers at Disney+.
iTunes has “Thor” at #2, while Google Play puts it third. It is one of three recent releases to place on multiple charts, with Sony’s “Where the Crawdads Sing” on all three, with #3 its highest placement at iTunes. Universal’s “Beast” is on two and is #3 at Vudu.

It’s Labor Day weekend, more than three months after “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount) rose to #1 in theaters over Memorial Day weekend, and it’s #1 again thanks to no competition and the September 5 boost of 3 tickets for National Cinema Day.
As for those who didn’t go to theaters, plenty of them selected “Maverick” at 19.99 to download and view at home. It spent the second of what will be likely many weeks atop all VOD charts.
Five of this weekend’s box office top 10 titles are also available on VOD. Also arriving this week are box-office leaders “Beast” (Universal) and “Thor: Love and Thunder” (Disney). “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (Sony), now available as as a lower-cost title, didn’t pop up.

With any good rom-com comes some good rom-com tropes: enemies to lovers, there’s only one bed, a misinterpreted proposal seen from a distance, etc. “Love in the Villa” has them all — plus a food fight. But that food fight definitely got a little out of hand on set, according to the movie’s stars Kat Graham and Tom Hopper.
The movie, released on Netflix on Thursday, follows Julie (Graham) and Charlie (Hopper) as they take a trip to Verona. Of course, that trip doesn’t happen together. Charlie is there for work, while Julie is supposed to be there with her boyfriend. Alas, that boyfriend dumps her just before the trip, but still, she decides to go on her own. And that was something Graham loved about the character.
“She needed that villa,” Graham explained to TheWrap. “It wasn’t just some vacation that she was just going to enjoy some me-time.

The first of the streaming service’s high-profile films, set to arrive in the tail-end of the year, will be Andrew Dominik’s Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde, starring Ana de Armas.
Elsewhere, there is a bunch of non-Netflix films set to be added over the course of the month, as well as the return of everyone’s favourite Karate Kid spin-off TV series.
This list has been compiled by The Independent, with additional assistance from the team at What’s on Netflix – and you can find the full compilation of everything being removed this month here.

The Vampire Diaries’s Kat Graham and Umbrella Academy’s Tom Hopper star in a passable, if not particularly sizzling, rom-com set in Verona
The Netflix confection Love in the Villa invokes two well-established traditions. There’s the general rom-com formula – two characters at odds, a meet-cute, a deception/reveal, an epiphany, a repeated inside joke, someone running somewhere in a time crunch. And then there’s the manufactured flavors of Netflix comfort food: recognizable B-to-c-list talent, cheesy locale, banal Twitter-inflected jokes, distinctively cheap-looking production, passable but not particularly invigorating chemistry. Written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, Love in the Villa combines both into another ephemeral confection off the streaming assembly line – inoffensive and baseline pleasurable yet immediately forgettable.
The hook here is that the central couple, played by The Vampire Diaries’s Kat Graham and Umbrella Academy’s Tom Hopper, meet in picturesque Verona – as corny a...

It’s a little ironic that the fair-minded maiden in “Love in the Villa” yearns for an authentic, romantic Italian vacation since her fairy tale has been cobbled together by Netflix’s practically patented algorithm. Take one part down-on-her-luck female protagonist, add in a handsome-but-cantankerous gentleman either from or in an enchanting European setting, and mix with a generous splash of high jinks that force them to fall head over heels. Yet the blessed surprise awaiting even the most cynical of audiences of writer-director Mark Steven Johnson’s romantic comedy is that within the manufactured product lies a heartening appeal to its sensible delight.

Kat Graham (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Tom Hopper (“Game of Thrones”) fall in love in the new Netflix rom-com “Love in the Villa.” Set in Verona, the film is like a travelogue of sorts with the actors acting as our tour guides. I spoke to both Graham and Hopper to talk about love, wine,

Netflix has announced its full fall movie slate, including release dates for a number of films that will be opening in select theaters before they’re on the streaming service.
That includes Oscar-winning “Birdman” and “The Revenant” director Alejandro G. Highly anticipated titles like “Blonde,” starring Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, and Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” are coming to the streaming service as they make their way around the festival circuit. Just as long-awaited are sequels “Enola Holmes 2...

Upwards of 85 new films will launch (or have already arrived) on Netflix this year. A few movies made their grand debuts in January, and quite a few more are set to launch at the beginning of this month, but the streaming service is touting its 2022 slate with new movies every week and a robust lineup of actors and filmmakers.
Standout tiles include Shawn Levy’s time-traveling tale, “The Adam Project,” with a cast led by Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldaña, as well as a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion,” starring Dakota Johnson and Henry Golding. Regina King will embody trailblazing politician Shirley Chisholm in a biopic titled “Shirley.” Stop-motion and horror maestros Henry Selick and Jordan Peele are teaming up for the animated pic “Wendell & Wild.” “The Gray Man” stars both Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in a CIA/spy/global manhunt film alongside Ana de Armas.
