Silvio Santos and his family have publicly disapproved this series. Santos stated, "It's neither good nor bad. It's kind of a joke. It looked so poor, they could've pulled a lot better. I don't recall its cast, but it was very poorly done." According to creator André Barcinski, Santos "has always taken full control of his story so seeing it as being told by someone else, that probably makes him uncomfortable somehow".
Paulo Nigro portrays Gugu Liberato on his long running show Domingo Legal (1993) in this series. In real life, Nigro appeared on that show as part of the Chiquititas Brasil (1997) young cast, and also as himself in later years as a guest.
Silvio Santos disliked this series but (on stage) gave Rodrigo Faro his blessing to portray him in the upcoming Silvio (2024). The movie revisits his daughter Patricia Abravanel's kidnapping in 2001.
The PCC hoax depicted in this series almost led to Domingo Legal (1993) being canceled in 2003, and escalated to a rumored ending of the SBT network as a whole. Gugu Liberato insisted that he was unaware of the hoax, but apologized live on Hebe (1966) to all the TV personalities mentioned in the "interview". On stage, Hebe Camargo emotionally advised him to stop "sufferring for ratings".
