Evanescence have released a new video for their single “Use My Voice,” directed by Eric Howell. The clip serves as a metaphor for recent activism movements, depicting singer Amy Lee alone in the darkness before she finds solidarity with her bandmates and a diverse group of people as the light breaks through. Howell, who first met Lee in 2015 when she contributed the end theme for his film Voice from the Stone, wanted the video to act as “a hopeful metaphor of moving from darkness into a more illuminated future by being heard.

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig will head Last Christmas, a holiday rom-com starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding.

The box office success of 2018 comedy Crazy Rich Asians opened a plethora of opportunities for co-star Henry Golding, who made his onscreen debut in the film. However, the cinematic path of Golding now crosses paths with a certain Mother of Dragons, Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke.

Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding will headline a holiday-themed rom-com movie called Last Christmas. With a tribute title to the 1984 holiday ballad by Wham!, the film is directed by Paul Feig, who works off a script by Emma Thompson, the Oscar-winning actress, who’s written screenplays such as Bridget Jones’s Baby and her starring stints in the Nanny McPhee films. Thompson will also have a role in the film.

Films with more than one submission include “Beauty and the Beast,” “Call Me By Your Name,” “Cars 3,” “Elizabeth Blue” and “Pulimurugan.” It’s worth noting that “The Greatest Showman,” a musical featuring original songs from last year’s winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, only submitted one song, “This Is Me.”

Before she attempts to reclaim the iron throne this July, “Game of Thrones” headliner Emilia Clarke will be dealing with the supernatural in the new thriller “Voice From the Stone.” Set in 1950s Tuscany, “Voice From the Stone” tells the haunting story of a nurse (Clarke) who helps a boy deal with the trauma of his mother’s sudden death. As she works with the troubled child, she becomes ensnared by a malevolent force inside the family’s castle. In this exclusive clip provided to TheWrap, Clarke speaks with the boy and tells him, “You have her gift.” Watch the clip above.

The films will skip cinemas and instead launch on digital platforms.

Paris-based Marco Polo Production has acquired Jason Flemyng’s vampire black comedy Eat Local for its 2017 slate of films aimed at French digital and broadcast distribution.

Other new acquisitions include Gerard Butler-starrer A Family Man (aka The Headhunter’s Calling); the upcoming biopic Speed Kills starring John Travolta as murdered speed-boat maverick Donald Aronow, and Tuscany-set gothic mystery Voice From The Stone [pictured], starring Emilia Clarke.

The company invests around $4m each year in the acquisitions of 15 to 20 mainly action films and genre pictures often with name cast attached.

Flemyng’s directorial debut, reuniting the actor with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels cast members Dexter Fletcher and Nick Moran and also starring Charlie Cox and Freema Agyeman, is sold by London-based sales outfit Gfm evolution.

Emilia Clarke’s rapid rise to the global stage has been remarkable. In just four years, she has been launched from roles in minor productions, to worldwide fame as Game of Thrones heroine Daenerys Targaryen. Her success has gone hand-in-hand with the HBO series’ enormous success.

In 2010 – just one year after graduating from Drama Centre London – the 28-year-old was cast as the star of Game of Thrones before the first season had begun filming. Now as the show approaches its fifth series, Clarke’s career is continuing to blossom, with several major roles lined up.

13 Films has licensed Germany and all German-speaking rights in all media to Constantin Film for Extortion starring Frank Grillo and Ving Rhames.

Phil Volken is scheduled to commence production on his directorial debut in Puerto Rico this month and produces with Alina Shraybman.

Extortion centres on a doctor and his family who fall foul of local fishermen in the Bahamas after a joyride leaves them stranded on an island.

Rounding out the cast are Jake McLaughlin, Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi from Captain Phillips and Nicky Whalen.

Sales veteran and President of 13 Films Tannaz Anisi launched her Los Angeles based distribution and finance company just a year ago at The American Film Market. Her expertise, honest work ethic, and keen sensibilities are widely respected in the industry and have helped her to start 13 Films with strong financial backing.

One year later, Tannaz shares the latest progress on this exciting venture:

I launched 13 Films a year ago, so this Afm marks my one year anniversary. It’s very exciting to see how far the company has come since its inception, as we continue to grow and build a full slate of films.

Given my background as a foreign sales agent, the timing was right to start my own company and I was able to secure strong investors to back my vision.

My aim is to seek cast-driven, commercial films with theatrical potential across all genres. Our eclectic state includes romantic comedies, action films, thrillers and family films.

We’re looking for about eight to ten films a year in pre-sales, peppered with a few finished films.

What is your background in sales?

For the last seven years, I was a freelance sales consultant and had the opportunity to work for some of the leading companies in the business - Voltage Pictures and Sierra/Affinity, to name a few.

Over the years, I developed great relationships and relished being able to work on high profile projects. However, I felt I was ready to make the transition from freelance consultant to having my own company and being able to immerse myself in my own projects.

Once I secured the financial investment, it was time to move forward with full force and determination.

How did you first get involved in the business?

I’ve been in the industry for about 18 years.

My very first job in the industry was working in production actually. I worked for PentAmerica Pictures, which was a partnership between Vittorio Cecchi Gori and Silvio Berlusconi.

Way back when I got the chance to work as an assistant at Afm, I fell in love with foreign sales from the very first moment. Since then, I was determined to succeed in the field and started from the ground up. I sought out the right opportunities to learn and absorb as much possible to reach the level where I’m at today.

My sales background started in television sales – I was fortunate enough to work for some of the bigger independent companies such as Win, Kushner-Locke and 20th Century Fox before moving into film.

What inspires you in your work?

What I love most is the face-to-face interaction with people from all over the world.

It’s truly fascinating and what drives me to continue doing this every day. The world is such a melting pot of different cultures, and being able to constantly meet and do business with buyers from across the globe is very rewarding. There’s never a dull moment.

We just announced our big, new project - "Voice From The Stone", which is a supernatural thriller starring Emilia Clarke from “Game of Thrones.”

It’s a haunting script produced by Dean Zanuck who also produced "The Road to Perdition". The film is currently shooting in Italy which is very exciting.

I have two other new projects too – an action film called "Extortion", which is a very fun project with Frank Grillo attached and set to start shooting by the end of November.

Another key title for us is the comedy "Loitering With Intent", which was well received at the Tribeca Film Festival this year and stars Sam Rockwell and Marisa Tomei. We showed the film for the first time to buyers here at Afm, and were thrilled with the response. It will be released theatrically in the Us by The Orchard, a Sony Pictures company.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has signed on to lead a 1950s-set psychological thriller titled Voice From The Stone, which will be an adaptation of Silvio Raffo’s award-winning novel, La Voce Della Pietra. The film will follow a nurse, presumably the role that Clarke will take on, who helps a young boy after his mother suddenly passes away. However, she soon becomes “ensnared by a malevolent force inside the family’s castle.”

Directing will be Eric D. Howell (making his debut) and on scripting duties is Andrew Shaw. Currently, the film is set to go in front of cameras this November in Italy. Teresa Palmer is in negotiations to join Alcon Entertainment’s re-creation of the 1991 action-thriller. Lionsgate International handles international sales. Separately, Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones will star in Voice From The Stone.
