Due to the tight production budget ($34 million) the majority of the film was shot in the UK to qualify for UK tax relief.
Roadshow Films, the Australian distributor, didn't care about the film and thought it was going to flop, and gave it a low key release. While their other big release that they heavily promoted, Ferrari (2023), flopped everywhere, The Beekeeper took off and grossed almost $9 million, forcing Roadshow to increase its screen count and add more theaters after angry emails and bad social media feedback.
Principal photography began in September 2022 in the United Kingdom. In October, Jason Statham shot scenes at Tyringham Hall in Tyringham. In preparation for the film, which is depicted in the opening scenes, Statham learned several common methods of beekeeping and interacted with real bees. Filming wrapped that December.
