I’ve got to admit I’m a little bit disappointed that we don’t get to see as much of Neville in Bad Monkey as I’d hoped we would. The series did seem to paint him as a protagonist at the beginning, but as time has passed, it seems it’s actually the Dragon Queen who has a much bigger role. Oh, but don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining about that at all. By the end of episode 6, it seemed things were too good to be true for Yancy, since with 4 episodes remaining, he already had all that he needed to land the Striplings in prison, but apparently, that’s not the case. Yet, there’s even more to the picture, which is why we look forward to more episodes. Episode 7 is an interesting one because it focuses on the Dragon Queen’s rise and fall from grace.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 suffered a major viewership drop in its second week on Luminate’s weekly streaming originals chart.
Last week, the Amazon Prime Video series managed to nab second place with 764.7 million minutes watched in the first full week of availability of its first three episodes combined with the first day of availability of its fourth episode. But during the Sept. 6-12 viewing window — which included the first full week of Episode 4 and the first day of Episode 5 — it only hit 372.7 million minutes watched, landing in fourth place. While there was less new content to watch compared to the week before, when the first three episodes has just debuted, it still doesn’t bode well for a large IP title to drop by more than 50% after one week, when word-of-mouth appeal should still be high. It should be noted that Luminate only measures U.

‘Bad Monkey’ just premiered on Apple TV+ and it is already sparking conversation about the show being promising and it potentially being Vince Vaughn’s best performance to date. The novel Set in the Florida Keys, ‘Bad Monkey’ is based on a novel by America's finest satirical novelist, Carl Hiaasen, who made sure to target everything from environmental destruction to political corruption in this 400 page novel. The first episode seems to be following not only the plot line but also patterns from the book. Much like the novel, the series uses dark humor and absurd situations to critique numerous aspects of society. In this dark comedy crime series we follow Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn), a former Miami detective turned restaurant inspector, who finds himself caught in a rather bizarre case that weirdly includes a bad-tempered monkey. If all this while the two plot strands of Bad Monkey were two parallel rivers, they’ve now both converged into the sea so the turtles can follow the moon. If you watched anything about this show, you got that reference, but if you didn’t, I’ll get to it in just a bit. Anyway, in the last episode, Ro was forced into a box by his boss Sonny, who said that if he knew anything about Yancy’s whereabouts, he’d be in trouble for not telling the cops. In this episode, Ro decides to do him one better and bring Yancy to his doorstep, but again, I’ll get to that one in a bit too. It’s unfortunate that Yancy’s life is basically messed up because of silly little grudges when he’s actually quite the nice man, with a love for nature and little kids.

The surprising news was revealed in late August: Ted Lasso is likely returning for a fourth season.
We were shocked to learn contracts for three key actors had been picked up for a new season. Apple, however, has not yet made an official announcement.
The show put Apple TV+ on the map and even got some Americans to care about soccer for the first time. It finished its third season in May of 2023 with a final episode that looked and felt like a series finale.
Apple did not advertise or announce it as a final season or final episode. However, trade industry reporting stated that star Jason Sudeikis wanted to wrap up the series in three years.

Netflix has found the formula for audience attention amid the waning days of summer and back-to-school season, and it involves one part Halle Berry, one part Mark Wahlberg, and a lot of action.
The two Hollywood A-listers have given Netflix a major streaming hit, as their action comedy “The Union” is the most-watched program for the third consecutive week on the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report.
“Industry” comes in behind “The Union” this week, as the buzzy HBO and Max series climbs the chart from No. 6 last week.

Streaming services continue to rule the world of entertainment – and we’re not complaining! The more the merrier, am I right? But shouldn’t we also prioritize quality over quantity? I think so! It’s not surprising at all to find Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as the No. 1 most-watched series on streaming. Not only did it only recently premiere its second season, but it has had a massive following since it arrived. Mostly thanks to the movie franchise, sure, but it’s also a truly brilliant adventure.

Well, that was another riveting episode of “the only point of this title is to connect to the source material,” wasn’t it?
In all seriousness, the monkey is getting further away from being relevant.
However, it is worth noting that the primate who plays Driggs is quite the acting talent.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
Still, that’s no excuse for calling a show Bad Monkey when the titular character is only ever around to eat grapes and display how easily he can be picked up.
Then again, the absurdity of the show’s title matches the chill and casual vibes of the series.
But as fun as Bad Monkey is, that doesn’t excuse its somewhat uneven storytelling.
After A Chaotic Start, Bad Monkey Is Shaping Into A Story With Substance And Stamina.
Some shows can have a million different plates spinning in the air without any risk of falling.

If there's two things that are hot right now in the world of films and TV it's "eat the rich" stories and murder mysteries. The White Lotus, Saltburn, Only Murders In The Building, Bad Monkey, Blink Twice, Poker Face... the list goes on. Sounds good, right? That's where The Perfect Couple, the latest provocation from Susanne Bier, comes in. Set amidst a wedding weekend gone awry, this one's got big Big Little Lies energy — and not just because Kidman's the lead. Check out the trailer below to see what we mean:

Bad Monkey is that show that you can watch with your buddies and discuss theories about what may happen next every week because it’s just so gosh darn fun. I think I’ve had the most fun with episode 5 thus far, and I can imagine it’s just going to get better. From the Dragon Queen’s looks to the banter between Rosa and Yancy, there’s something in it for everybody. At the end of episode 4, Yancy is in a tough situation after Eve tells Nick to get rid of the massive guy. Single-armed Nick decided to smack the guy on the back of his head with a blunt object. Episode 5 starts right where episode 4 ended with Yancy on the floor and Nick hovering above him. This isn’t a Game of Thrones spinoff, so there’s no need to worry for Yancy’s life, but maybe a...

It’s not an illusion. Sazz is dead.
On Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 2, Charles comes to the grim realization that his best friend Sazz isn’t going to suddenly pop up alive and well.
However, that was sort of the feeling at first when Sazz did pop up: that it was all a joke, that the writers couldn’t possibly kill off Jane Lynch, and that someone else would take her place as this season’s murder victim.

Sazz did come back, but as a ghost, not only to help Charles through his grief but also to help him figure out who killed her and who has it in for him.
Losing a Friend
Grief is a funny thing that people handle differently.
But one common thread, especially right after someone you love dies, is to try...

Great news: The Heartstopper Season 3 cast includes most of the characters we’ve grown to love.
There are a few exceptions, of course: Sarah (Olivia Colman) will not be back because of scheduling conflicts, and Ben’s (Sebastian Croft) storyline came to an end.
With the feel-good LGBTQ+ series’ third season getting ready to debut on Netflix on October 3, 2024, there’s no time like the present to refresh your memory about who’s who and what they’re up to.
(Netflix/Screenshot, Netflix/Teddy Cavendish)
Charlie Spring Joe Locke
Unsurprisingly, Charlie will again be part of the Heartstopper Season 3 cast, as the series is centered around him and his relationship with Nick.
There are other characters and couples, but there would be no show without Charlie.

Jesse Lee Soffer joining FBI: International will likely change the direction of the series in significant ways.
International is different from the other shows in the FBI franchise, as it features a team of internationally based agents who work with Interpol to catch European criminals who are harming US citizens (or America itself!).
The show revolves around the elite Fly Team, which has had the same leader for three years.

Now that Soffer is stepping in to play new leader Wes Mitchell, the show will go in a different direction.

Zach Braff and John Ortiz join the cast of Bad Monkey in a flashback-centric Episode 4.
Bad Monkey revolves around the story of a former police detective named Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn) who unexpectedly dives deep into a world filled with corruption after being reassigned to become a restaurant inspector.

In NBC’s new fall series Brilliant Minds, Zachary Quinto, best known as Star Trek’s stoic Dr. Spock, is getting a bit more emotional as Dr. Oliver Wolf, an unconventional neurologist based on the real-life British groundbreaker, Dr. Oliver Sacks. “Oliver Sacks dedicated his life to de-stigmatizing mental illness,” notes exec producer Michael Grassi (Riverdale). “And I think this show is taking things that might be invisible or scary and people having really interesting conversations and debates and arguments and talking about things that feel urgent.” In the opener, Wolf acclimates to his new gig as Attending Physician at the Bronx General Hospital, where he has been brought in by longtime friend Dr. Carol Pierce (All American: Homecoming‘s Tamberla Perry) to work with a team of interns in the facility’s general neurology department. After a ridiculously successful first season, fans of Elsbeth are ready for the police procedural to return with more murder mayhem and hijinks.
With a Rotten Tomatoes score of ninety-four percent, the review aggregator’s consensus on the show is that “Carrie Preston’s standout character from The Good Wife makes for a great detective in this amiable and clever spinoff.”
The series has proven that The Good Wife universe has plenty of room to expand into more shows and genres. Elsbeth starkly contrasted the heavy intensity of The Good Wife and The Good Fight.
(Michael Parmelee/CBS)
It has a fun and lighter tone than its sister shows, but that doesn’t mean the creators aren’t above dropping an easter egg or two.
In fact, all of the episodic murderers for Season 1 were actors who had previously portrayed different characters in either The Good Wife or The Good Fight.

Apple TV+ really is an underrated streamer. I feel like the platform has a lot to offer, but sometimes it's difficult to compete with the bigger companies like Netflix and Max. They kind of dominate the playing field. But, that doesn't mean you're not going to find great content on Apple TV+ like Shrinking.
And that's why you're here, right? You've watched the comedy-drama, liked it, and now would like something else to fill your time as we await Shrinking season 2. Well, it won't be long now! The second season premieres Oct. 16. But, it is still a while which means you have plenty of time to start watching something new! Here's 5 good Apple TV+ shows like Shrinking to check out now.

It’s all about Eve on the latest episode of Miami Vice, I mean Bad Monkey.
An excellent storytelling tool is when a series, film, or whatever pokes fun at its plot.
It’s an effective way to relate to the audience and turn a lackluster part into something better than it previously was.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
The main thing to remember, though, is that the viewers should be aware of the poking, whereas with Bad Monkey, it isn’t clear if the show takes itself seriously or not.
For a series that feels like nothing is ever really happening, the writers have managed to create a thrilling and funny series that strolls through the plot like a morning walk down the beach.

Just last week I said Pachinko was the best new thing on AppleTV+; don’t come at me because I haven’t seen Presumed Innocent, but I think Bad Monkey is a close second there; it simply depends on what kind of TV you truly enjoy. Personally, I love both, as well as the Japanese sci-fi, Sunny, so if you were wondering what to do with that subscription, now’s the perfect time to put it to use. Bad Monkey is a thriller about a police officer who is kicked down to health inspector status after making a rather bold decision to send a man rolling into the sea in his golf cart. The adaptation is hilarious and delivers both comedy as well as thrill. In episode 4, we get a full breakdown of exactly what happened in the timeline that led to the current circumstances. If you were wondering why...

This week’s Bad Monkey takes a trip down memory lane to show us where Eve’s husband Nick’s life of crime may have started.
TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek at the episode (streaming this Wednesday on Apple TV+), with a flashback to Eve (Meredith Hagner) confronting Nick (Rob Delaney) and shady doctor Israel O’Peele (Zach Braff) about their medical supply company — and why she’s never actually seen a shipment of supplies come in. “This whole f–king thing’s a scam,” she declares, accusing the doc of writing fake prescriptions for patients that don’t exist.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Bad Monkey Season 1, Episodes 1-3.] Bad Monkey may still be unfolding its current season on Apple TV+, but we’re already beginning to wonder if the Vince Vaughn-led dramedy from Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence will carry on for a second season. While that may be a question that puts the cart before the horse, Bad Monkey‘s source material hints at the possibility of a continuation. Based on Carl Hiaasen’s bestselling novel of the same name, the cult favorite has been adapted for the screen this season, but Andrew Yancy (Vaughn) appears in another novel of Hiaasen’s titled Razor Girl. Apple TV+ Bad Monkey tells the story of Andrew Yancy who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department to work as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. When he stumbles upon a case that begins with a severed arm being pulled from the ocean,...

I have always said that Apple TV+ is tiny, but mighty when it comes to its programming. Even though it doesn’t have a menu of show (or movie) options as large as other streamers, such as Netflix or Hulu, it’s quality over quantity for us here at Show Snob. That said, Apple TV+ is not a service you want to sleep on.
If you don’t currently have an Apple TV+ subscription, you’re missing out on great quality TV! I’m talking clever writing, engaging stories, and brilliant talent. But make no mistake, no platform is perfect, Apple TV+ does have a show we would rather skip.
Shows like Presumed Innocent and Bad Monkey need to be on your to-watch list if they aren’t already. But the series Palm Royale, for example? You can go ahead and hit skip on that! Need more suggestions? We’ve got your back!

Now that’s what I’m talking about, Arconiacs! Less fluff, more Mabel, Charles, and Oliver.
Our favorite murder-solving trio returned to their roots on Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 1, both figuratively and literally. And it was a blast!
Believe me, I was expecting the worst.
(Disney/Eric McCandless)
But I was pleasantly surprised that the feel of the Season 4 premiere recalled Only Murders in the Building Season 1.
In Season 1, camaraderie and murder-solving were the priorities for our three sleuths before all the fluff in subsequent seasons got in the way.
Oh, there were plenty of guest stars in this episode, including Meryl Streep, but they took a backseat to the main course, which is exactly where they belong.
Back to Their Roots

Taylor Sheridan has built a television empire with his Yellowstone universe. Now, he’s adding to it with a modern-day spinoff, The Madison.
Sheridan already blessed us with two Yellowstone prequels to satisfy our Western-series cravings: 1883 and 1923.

With the future of the original series Yellowstone up in the air because of Kevin Costner’s departure, The Madison will be able to keep the Yellowstone universe going even without John Dutton, sadly.
It would have been cool to see Kevin Costner pop up in The Madison, but it’s not to be. But anything is possible in Hollywood these days, so you never know.
But The Madison will be anything but lacking in star power. Here’s what we know so far!

One thing you never want to do on The Ark is poke the bear.
Especially if that bear has implants to augment its strength into the perfect killing machine.
If there has been one wild card amidst Season 2, it has been Kelly and her unpredictable “Post-Human” status. Audiences were introduced to Kelly and her homicidal tendencies in The Ark Season 1, and in Season 2, we’re learning that at the root of Kelly’s violent tendencies are her implants.

She was more than willing to sacrifice her life on multiple occasions to keep herself from hurting anyone else.

Tulsa King Season 2 is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be happier to see Sylvester Stallone return to our small screen.
Season one blew us away, sort of like Stallone’s character, Dwight Manfredi, did to all of his enemies after arriving in Tulsa.
Dwight is a smart dude — and a dangerous one when he wants to be — and Tulsa King Season 2 looks to be as exciting (and amusing) as the first season.
(Brian Douglas/Paramount+)
Many of our favorite characters will return with a few new fun additions as well. So, Dwight and his crew will definitely have their hands full.
In season two, Dwight and his crew continue to build up and defend their growing empire in Tulsa, but just as they get their bearings, they realize that they’re not the only ones who want to stake their claim.

I don’t know about you, but I did not see this coming! Bad Monkey is once again the most-watched series on streaming. Don’t get me wrong, Bad Monkey is a great series, I’m truly a fan! If you’re not watching the Vince Vaughn drama on Apple TV+, you’re missing out! This has been a great year to be an Apple TV+ subscriber.
Presumed Innocent, another Apple TV+ series, is also on the top 10, and has been for numerous weeks!

“American Murder: Laci Peterson” was the most-watched streaming original series in the U.S. Aug. 16-22, which marked its first full week of availability, per Luminate. That’s up from fifth place with 255.3 million minutes watched the week before, though the docuseries was only available for two days during that window.
Interestingly, the title at the bottom of the TV chart covered the same subject. Peacock’s “Face to Face With Scott Peterson” debuted in 10th place with 147.5 million minutes watched in its first three days of streaming.
"Emily in Paris" returned to Netflix for its fourth season, which landed it a second place debut with 843.6 million minutes watched in its first full week of availability. Let it be said that every offbeat crime series should begin with the discovery of a severed limb. Vince Vaughn has proven time and again his ability to transition from the snark that defined many an early role into a career that’s allowed him to stretch his less-humorous chops via dour turns on the worst-received season of “True Detective” to some aggression in “Brawl in Cell Block 99.” “Bad Monkey,” the latest from Apple TV+ prodigy Bill Lawrence and based on a book by Carl Hiaasen, sees Vaughn ease back into a character no one else but he could inhabit, surrounded by a show unsure of what it’s trying to accomplish.

And, let me be clear. I am a fan of Apple TV+. I appreciate how many TV shows with huge stars the streamer is cranking out these days, but it’s just so odd that almost no one is talking about these great shows!

No, you’re not on acid or tripping hard on shrooms! Blame the break in reality on the latest episode of Sunny!
For whatever reason, I had convinced myself things couldn’t possibly get weirder on this fantastic series. I was oh so wrong in so many ways.
If there is one thing fans of the show have realized, it is that you should always expect the unexpected regarding Sunny.

This series has weaved a well-balanced plot involving pure camp humor with thrilling moments of suspense and danger.
And while it’s been playing with the patience of its viewers, we finally have some answers!
Thank God, because Sunny has been exhausting in the best possible way.

Welcome back to another riveting episode of “funny looking tall man attracts beautiful women with his questionable humor.” Otherwise known as Bad Monkey.
I’m not suggesting the series is one formulaic cliche after another. I’m actively typing it at the top of my lungs.
That said, Bad Monkey is a genuinely funny show with a lot going for it beyond Vince Vaughn.

As the story develops alongside another, this series is taking its time before the two intertwine.
While it was a questionable decision initially, it’s becoming clear why that was the best route. The series can fully flesh out the major characters before things get crazy.
Although, I don’t know how much time Vince Vaughn needs to develop a character based on Vince Vaughn.

I’ve got to admit I was quite skeptical to watch Bad Monkey at first because I’m not the biggest fan of comedy, and not even the mystery aspect of this show interested me. But two episodes in, and I was already decidedly dedicated to finding out what happened to Nick Stripling. Episodes 1 and 2 set us up with the main characters of Bad Monkey and how all their lives are intertwined. Episode 3 begins with Neville and Yancy meeting for the first time at Neville’s sister’s restaurant. Yancy’s there as a food inspector, and Neville’s there to keep his sister company. Yancy learns that the restaurant is perfectly clean except for the monkey gobbling down some grapes. Now this could be a massive issue, but Neville convinces Yancy to come back in a week and check for no monkey. At the same time, Yancy and Rosa...
