I love Halsey career. I love her music. The production of this film it's amazing. The costumes , cinematography and casting outstanding. The concept it's there. But that's not enough. It's not enough combine beautiful images. And that's a shame because it could be such a great music film.

This video featured great vocals, beautiful imagery; both hallmarks of a great music video. But it missed the mark for me on a couple of levels. First, if you are going to tell a story, make it something fresh (at least a fresh twist). We don't need retellings of history and all the trappings pf misogyny without hope. Women have felt this tale, lived this tale, throughout time. When you create a nee story within this theme, present some element of empowerment. This give the illusion of that, but it is just delusion.
Maybe they wanted a dark tale. But they could have spun it away from the cliche.

The costumes, makeup and imagery held me captivated thru the film. But the story (was there supposed to be one?) was barely there.
I get that you are supposed to let the gorgeous display and great music carry the show and it does to some effect, but I needed a bit more clarity to the story flow if we are calling this a movie. If meant as just a video experience, I'd have rated higher. But this is IMDB after all.

The film has a special fantasy story that is told in a mysterious atmosphere rather than scary and makes the viewer curious about what is going to happen inside the film. The very good atmosphere of the film makes the viewer constantly feel the feeling of horror and fear within himself. In addition, there is a feminist thinking within the film that associates the viewer with mothers who are oppressed and the viewer sympathizes with them.

This film was made for Halsey fans. As a fan myself, we go into the film loving everything about Halsey, who she is, her lyrics, her vision. Of course we are going to rate it a 10. Why would you not rate one of your favorite artists as a 10? I connect with her music on so many levels, and it has helped to heal so many people. This film embodies all of the themes she sings about. It is a masterpiece. If you're not a fan of her music/writing/vision, you probably won't like it. I love everything about it.
Regardless of the reviews, if you like Halsey, you will like this film!!!

But the concept wasn't executed as well as I think it could've been. I'm a huge Halsey fan so I am very familiar with her entire creative vibe, which I love. I just wish some things would have been a little clearer and not leaned so much into symbolic interpretation. The base story they wanted to tell was there in the music and the visuals, and the wardrobe totally blew me away. But it just didn't feel cohesive enough for storytelling on a screen. Can't wait to see what else she creates! I feel like in the IICHLIWP era is definitely Halsey peaking.

Initially I was turned off because this looked like a GOT ripoff. Then the soundtrack started. The music doesn't even fit the period this is supposed to be. WTF? Apparently the "Halsey" in the title is a singer from somewhere and this is just an extended music video. Does anyone understand or like this? That's a sincere question.

Love this direction toward films to show case artists new music. I think it helps the viewer become excited and immerse in the music and the overall narrative of the album. I have always been a Halsey Stan, but this was dark/horror like masterpiece. Loved the costume, makeup, and letting the music show you rather than you tell you the plot. Hauntingly beautiful.
For a few moment I just flash back to the ancient Glory and blossoming era .Thank you sir 4 making this wonderful movie.
I'm from India. True to say I really like the climax of this wonderful movie .
Heart touching song of Harsley, truly adorable Sir all the best for your next extra ordinary movie To me,the king 🤴 got what he deserved as well as all except queen 👸 .

Everything in the album is gold, from rhythm to lyrics. The way halsey talks about the wrong things that are normalize in or society is way to disturbingly amazing. Indeed, a work of art.

I'm sorry, this was quite boring!!! And not entertaining! Love her voice but This was not the best!
This is a great experience - the music and the costumes are gloriously divine. The casting and production are seamless and beautiful. My only complaint is I could have used MORE and the additive of more dialogue though the story being moved by imagery and symbolism were riveting. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

In this movie the music works very well, but the little development of the story makes it a bit confusing.
The film does not fully develop the story or the conflicts, many things are left to the interpretation of the public, but what works phenomenally is the use of music, it is fascinating how each song fits perfectly with the moments of the story and with the way to perceive the scenes. Some characters are confusing, as is the way the conflicts were created. The performances are decent, the production design is good, the costume design is very compelling, and the makeup and hairstyle are good.
It is a film that can be perceived in different ways, I think it is not bad, but it did not dazzle me either, especially because of its not so developed history, but it can be magnificent for those who manage to interpret it in a broader and more concrete way.

I've studied a lot of theology, and I know plenty well about pagan rituals and symbology. This film was riddled with it. For my sake, I stopped watching it at the halfway mark.
This was a sad mess. I'd like to give my credit to the costume designers and makeup artists. Everyone looked stunning! Even the demons/witches.
As someone who was raised in faith, watching this film was difficult. I hope more people are able to spot the evils in this. Halsey made it very clear who's side she's on. Pity.

When compared to other "album-accompanying-films", this one is one of, if not, the best.
"There's not much story", many tout in their reviews. This is incorrect. The story is very clear, concise, and to the point, hence the 53 minute runtime.
Anyone who didn't understand this was a period drama of a queen accused simply wasn't paying enough attention. The story is very laid out even in the "vague" moments.
"Too much up for interpretation" For the album itself? Eh I could see that. Lyrical content is always up for interpretation. The film itself? Again, not much up for interpretation when it's very clear and concise (if one is actually paying attention). I don't understand people who say things like this.
Hell, I'm autistic, many things are confusing to me/bother me when up to too much interpretation. But the story here is very clear, even when it waivers in its "point", so everyone saying "it's confusing" are confusing, in turn, to me.
Also, as the title suggests, when this opens, it's clearly labeled a "FILM EXPERIENCE", so yet again everyone here saying "not much of a film", it isn't supposed to be a direct film. It s a film EXPERIENCE set with Halsey's music. It's that simple.
If you're not a fan of Halsey, Nine Inch Nails, or album-movie tie in's, this isn't really for you anyway. *shrug*.
To the people complaining they are "disappointed", you have no one to blame but yourselves. Hype is made from one's mind. Go into something with the wrong expectations you're obviously not going to like it.
And to circle back to the "interpretation" thing from early, why is "too up for interpretation" necessarily a bad thing? Do we REALLY need everything spelled out for us left and right? No. No we do not. Things are often more powerful when left up to one's own interpretation.
Recommended 100% for Halsey fans since that is truly who this is for anyway.
Hopefully this gets her some new fans as the album and film are phenomenal and deserving of praise.

I really love Halsey. She is my favorite artist after Queen and the album is literally gold, it is very high quality and definitely the best Halsey album after Badlands, but unfortunately I cannot say that the movie is as good as the album. It's not bad (Halsey has never done anything that could be called "bad" anyway, and I don't think she will do it in the future either), but I can't say it's good either. The setting, costumes, story and acting are very good, but I think it needs to be detailed with a little more effort. I hope Halsey comes up with much better movies in the future. (Don't forget listen full album of If I Can't Have Love,I Want Power)

Excellent short film, from the scenery to the music, it all synchronizes together and creates a spectacular experience. In a time where music videos are no longer played (MTV, etc) artist can learn from Halsey! This is the future of artist videos!
A cinematic masterpiece The scenery! The makeup! The costumes! Halsey gave and gave, as she should! Halsey's mind is brilliant!
The pacing was jarringly fast though, but I guess it was to avoid boredom.
I didn't give the album a chance, but now I can surely say that I'll be listening to the songs more.

Can't seem to get enough this is the first album iv ever listened to where i like all the songs in it. It sooo amazing i love it!!! Im in love with it.
If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power is not just an perfect leadup by Halsey for her new album of the same name, but the film is an work of cinematic magic. For someone who has little experience in the field of directing and creating films, Halsey delights and stuns audiences with an memorable storyline celebrating pregnancy and childbirth, but combining her new original music to create the film IICHLIWP.
Whether you have been a lifelong fan of Halsey, or you are just getting into Halsey, you will enjoy this film from beginning to the end because it is just that magical.

The film is absolutely marvelous and a joy to watch and analyze. However, the symbolism proves to be a bit confusing on first few watches, but it still remains one of the best films of 2021 so far. Thank you, Halsey.

I really like what she did for her first film/movie experience but... I do find myself being a little bored at times. I love the concept she went for being a queen through marriage and the aftermath. I also like how she ended the film but it just needs needs a little more added to the story. Really love the music she choose for this and hope she decides to make another one.

In order to like the film you have to like halsey or the aesthetic of the movie. I feel like it shouldnt be on streaming services as not "anybody" should be able to watch it and judge badly because it doesnt suite their style and flop the reviews with their opinions. Again dont judge it if you didnt like bc that means that it wasnt made for you.
