Kroq has revealed the lineup for the 2024 edition of Almost Acoustic Christmas, a one-day festival taking place at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on December 14th. The Smashing Pumpkins, Beck, 311, and Sublime are set to play.

Producing for Chenin Entertaiment are Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready. Executive producers include surviving Sublime members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson, in addition to Troy Nowell and Jakob Nowell on behalf of Bradley Nowell’s estate.

Francis Lawrence, who was initially attached to direct before stepping aside due to a scheduling conflict, will also executive produce.

Chicago’s Riot Fest is reversing course, choosing to move back to its long-time home at Douglass Park just months after announcing plans to relocate to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, and only weeks before this year’s festivities are set to get underway.

Riot Fest initially announced its move to Bridgeview after festival organizers were unable to reach an agreement with the Chicago Park District. Power Trip played their first full show with new singer Seth Gilmore on Thursday night (June 6th) at the Glass House in Pomona, California. The gig served as a warm-up for the band’s appearance at the one-day No Values punk festival in Pomona on Saturday (June 8th).

A massive new festival called No Values has been announced, featuring a killer lineup of The Original Misfits, Iggy Pop, Turnstile, Social Distortion, Sublime and Power Trip reunions, and many more. The one-day event is set for June 8th at the Pomona Fairplex in California, and is being staged by Coachella promoter Goldenvoice.

Jakob bears an eerie sonic and physical resemblance to his dad, who was also 28 when he died of an overdose in 1996, cutting his band’s career short on the brink of superstardom. This April, at Coachella, Jakob will make his official debut as the new lead singer and guitarist of Sublime, alongside his dad’s original bandmates, drummer Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson.

Sublime will headline the first-ever Brightside Music Festival, taking place Saturday, April 27th, at Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando, Florida. Other acts on the bill include 311, Goldfinger, Story of the Year, Face to Face, Save Ferris, Unwritten Law, Zebrahead, and more to be announced.

The festival gig will mark one of the first few performances for the reunited Sublime, featuring original members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson alongside singer-guitarist Jakob Nowell (son of late frontman Bradley Nowell). A jury made up of members of Gehitu, the Basque Association of Gays, Lesbians, Transexuals and Bisexuals, has short-listed five Latin American films for the XI Sebastiane Latino Award, to be presented during the 71st San Sebastian Festival. The selected titles are Almamula, Cross Dreamers, El filo de las tijeras, El silencio de los hombres and Transfariana.

The award goes to the Latin American feature film that best defends the demands and values of the Lgbtiqa+ community. In 2023 two women and three men directors represent this defence the length and breadth of the continent with four productions from Argentina and one from Colombia.

HBO's "Westworld" had the misfortune to end just as ChatGPT was making itself known and the world was becoming aware of how far real-life AI has come. It's tempting to read into that, not to mention co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan's parting comments about "our AI overlords." Like, maybe the AI canceled "Westworld" for getting too close to the truth.

What's clear is that actor Jeffrey Wright's journey as AI programmer Bernard Lowe has reached its end on "Westworld." Wright no longer has to worry about getting bored with his character, since some all-powerful AI HBO has officially canceled the show after four seasons, giving him and other main cast members a nice severance package in the form of millions. However, there was a time when Wright doubted whether Bernard would be able to sustain his interest as an actor.

A sequel to the 2005 supernatural Keanu Reeves film “Constantine” is in the works at Warner Bros., and both Reeves and director Francis Lawrence are expected to return, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Akiva Goldsman is writing the screenplay and will also produce the new film alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella serving as producers.

Lawernce’s directorial debut, which made 230 million worldwide, starred Reeves as an exorcist and demonologist brought in to help prove that the death of a detective’s sibling was not a suicide but something more sinister. The original also starred Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, Shia Labeouf and Tilda Swinton, and it was based on a comic book series called “Hellblazer” by Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis.

Martelli’s drama premiered in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight selection earlier this year and recently picked up the best first feature film award at Jerusalem. In a world which is constantly telling girls how to behave and who to be, Alli Haapasalo’s Sundance hit comes as a breath of fresh air. Later screened at Inside Out, it’s the story of three young women navigating the challenges of early adulthood, and it manages to combine a focus on sex and sexuality with an innate wholesomeness which makes it effortlessly endearing. These are lives lived naturally, setting aside the pressures and prejudices of the wider world, in a space where men are peripheral. They’re still fraught with problems, but, like Mariano Biasin’s Sublime, another of this year’s festival favourites, they provide a glimpse into a world of freedom.
