It's that time of year again when we all start to enjoy revisiting some of our favourite Christmas movies, whether it's Die Hard (let's not get into that debate right now...), Elf, The Nightmare Before Christmas, or even Love Actually.
However, for superhero fans, there really aren't that many options. It's rare to see any comic book adaptation set during a specific point in time as, like the comics themselves, avoiding that ensures they have a timeless feel. However, there are a handful of examples we think finally deserve to be recognised as Christmas classics in their own right!
Some might be a little more obvious to you than others, but there are a few here that we think finally deserve to be recognised among the greats mentioned above. While we list them here in no particular order, rest assured they all have that much-needed holiday feel.

There was so much to love about the '90s "X-Men" animated series that creating a revival show in 2024 seemed like a risky maneuver. But Disney's legacy sequel series, "X-Men '97," debuted to great reviews, providing '90s kids everywhere with a straight shot of animated nostalgia. Of course, the 2024 version of the show was a lot cleaner than the Og series, which originally ran from 1992 to 1997 on Fox Kids. "X-Men" debuted during a time when hand-drawn animation done under a tight budget and often shipped overseas for coloring gave all our favorite cartoons a charmingly janky aesthetic. That same feel was missing from the revival show, but that was really the only thing that felt different.
To make sure this particular nostalgia-fest hit properly, Disney and Marvel ensured they did everything they could to make "X-Men '97" feel as close to the original series as possible. The show was...

Joss Whedon's large-scale action picture "Avengers: Age of Ultron" was released in theaters in the spring of 2015, and it featured a gaggle of Marvel superheroes teaming up to fight the eponymous evil super-robot. Ultron (voiced by James Spader) was an artificial intelligence accidentally created by Iron Man while he was constructing a global, spacebound security system intended to make superhero-ing easier. Upon achieving consciousness, Ultron spends about two minutes on the internet and instantly decided that humanity needed to be wiped out, shunting its own consciousness into a series of robot bodies and going about its wicked business. The Avengers, naturally, smash up all the Ultron bots.
Ultron is destroyed at the end of that film and has only shown up in additional Marvel Cinematic Universe entries in smaller roles since then, including the animated TV show "What If...?" However, Spader will reportedly reprise Ultron for the upcoming "WandaVision...

Marvel Studios' Marvel Animation panel just wrapped up at D23 and we’re disappointed to report that none of the footage shown to fans at the event has been shared online. It’s not all bad news, though, as we do have some big MCU updates for you.
An X-Men '97 season 2 sizzle reel kicked things off and confirmed the team will wear the black and yellow uniforms from Grant Morrison’s New X-Men run.
The preview then revealed plans for characters like Apocalypse, Bishop, Danger, Mariko, Polaris and Warlock to appear when the critically acclaimed revival returns to Disney+ in the not-too-distant future.
It was also confirmed that What If...? season 3 will be the show’s last. Oscar Isaac is set to reprise his role as Moon Knight, with Ironheart and White Vision now set to appear. One episode will see a team led by Captain America control Gundham-style mechs to battle Gamma Monsters.

Following X-Men '97's season 1 finale, What If...? season 3 is likely up next from Marvel Animation. Marvel Zombies updates have been few and far between, but Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum has shared new Eyes of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man details.
The latter was unveiled during the San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, while news of the Black Panther spin-off came our way last December.
We've previously heard that the animated series will follow brave warriors tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous Vibranium artefacts throughout Wakandan history. Thanks to ComicBook.com (via Toonado.com), we now have some specifics.
"Eyes of Wakanda is an MCU show," Winderbaum confirmed. "This is the history of Wakanda as told through the War Dogs, and it is some of the best animation we've ever done. Todd Harris is the creator of that one. That's just such a cool show."

Marvel Studios has drastically reduced its output since Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO, with the hope being to get back to quality over quantity. That's led to fewer TV shows on Disney+, but at least two more Marvel Animation titles will reportedly be released this year.
According to What's On Disney Plus (via Toonado.com), the streamer has sent out an updated 2024 slate which names Black Panther spin-off Eyes Of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (previously known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year) as being among the platform's 2024 offerings.
Other Marvel titles mentioned include Hit-Monkey season 2 (a Marvel Television leftover), Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Only Hit-Monkey has a confirmed launch date of July 15; the rest are currently undated.
It's interesting that Marvel Zombies isn't listed, as we'd expected that to hit in 2024 as well. It could be that no final decision has been made on the series,...

Marvel's "What If..." has employed a mix of reprisals and recasts from the movies. Captain Peggy Carter may have the super soldier serum, and Strange Supreme went down a darker path, but they're still played by Hayley Atwell and Benedict Cumberbatch like the originals. Tragically, T'Challa-as-Star-Lord also went down as Chadwick Boseman's final performance.
On the other hand: Mick Wingert fills in for Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Lake Bell plays Black Widow instead of Scarlett Johansson, and season 1 big bad Infinity Ultron was voiced by Ross Marquand, not James Spader.
"What If..." season 2 brings in two characters not seen in season 1, Hela (the villain of "Thor: Ragnarok") and Wenwu (the villain of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"), and pairs them up in episode 7: "What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings?" The episode splits the difference on recasting: Wenwu is voiced by Feodor Chin,...

Season 2, Episode 3 of What If..? saw Happy Hogan take on an entirely new form for the MCU — and while it is not quite new to Marvel Comics fans, it has not appeared for multiple decades.
What If...? has introduced plenty of new versions of familiar characters, from Captain Carter to Star-Lord T'Challa.
But for Happy Hogan, What If...? brought to the screen one identity of his that has not been seen for many decades - The Freak.

In Jon Favreau's 2008 film "Iron Man," the title hero (Robert Downey Jr.) was assisted in his high-tech superhero lab by an artificially intelligent butler-like presence named J.A.R.V.I.S. Iron Man's digital butler not only wrangled the hero's complicated engineering projects, but also controlled the even-higher-tech devices in his lab. When Iron Man went out on patrol, J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice could be heard inside his helmet. J.A.R.V.I.S. was voiced by Paul Bettany. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to grow, so too did Iron Man's computerized friend. Eventually, J.A.R.V.I.S. was shunted into an indestructible android body and renamed Vision (also Bettany).
When Vision became sentient and autonomous, that meant Tony Stark had to program a new computer helper, and invented F.R.I.D.A.Y. (voiced by Kerry Condon...

There's been much talk of late about how the Marvel Cinematic Universe is on the decline, that superhero movies have become oversaturated, and that the general public has been fed at least one multiverse too many.
There's truth to that statement if box office numbers are any indication. And I'd argue that some of that decline is in the over-bloated plotlines that fans got tired of keeping straight. But there's an upside to the multiverse phenomenon: Setting stories in different worlds with different rules opens the door to fresh storytelling. Even more so, telling a tale in one of these alternative realities unshackles the writer from being beholden to the machinations of the overarching sagas the MCU likes to tell.
That's been the appeal of Marvel's animated series, "What If...?" The show takes the multiverse premise and is given the freedom to create fantastical situations that would never occur on...

Bill Maher has a suggestion for the Republican Party: change their symbol from the elephant to… the troll. “Because that’s all they are now, trolls — people who get off on provoking other people who are trying to have an adult conversation,” the “Real Time” host said Friday night. There is a whole lot of mean spirited people out there and not just on social media. Maher was quick to point out that the White House, in fact, seems to have childish fights when we have so many big problems that should be getting the focus. Also Read: Bill Maher...

Neil Gaiman’s much-loved novel American Gods has finally made it to the screen, with a lush adaptation from Bryan Fuller...
Having never read Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, I was assigned by my Den Of Geek overlords with a curious task: to attend the European Premiere of the incoming TV adaptation and judge it purely on the merits of what was put on screen, paying no heed (since I really couldn’t) to what it did and didn’t borrow from the much-beloved book.

An eyewitness’ ability to accurately recall key details of an event can be adversely affected by anxiety. If said event was stressful to watch, testimony can become unreliable. Hail Hydra?
On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 16, Daisy and Simmons entered the Framework to find and save their friends. This marked the end of the Lmd story arc and the beginning of a new one – Agents of Hydra.
Just as I thought there was no way Lmd could top Ghost Rider, only to almost immediately be proven wrong, it already looks like Agents of Hydra is going to be a wonderfully wild way to end what has been Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s best season. (Let's just hope it isn't the last.)
"What If..." was chock full of emotionally draining moments, plenty of disturbing irony, and some surprisingly prescient references to topics currently of heated political debate in the United States

We all thought we saw Mace Windu die in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith when his arm was cut off and he was thrown out of a window high above the city on the planet Coruscant during an altercation with Anakin Skywalker and Darth Sidious. But maybe he didn't die, maybe Windu lives! Samuel L. Jackson believes that it would take a lot more than just cutting off an arm and throwing him out the to kill the Jedi Master.
During a Q&A on Twitter, the actor explained that "Jedi can fall from extremely high heights." He expanded on that during an interview with EW on SiriusXM, saying:
"Of course he is! Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there's a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?"
He's right! There's really no reason why Windu wouldn't be alive. Jackson goes on to say...

The time machine has taken many forms over the centuries: Dr. Who, Bill and Ted all ventured through the fourth dimension in a phone booth; Doc Brown used a Delorean; Homer Simpson a toaster; and an illegal Russian energy drink was all it took to send a certain hot tub hopping through the spacetime continuum. When Broad City stars Ilana Glazer and Paul W. Downs, and writer/director Lucia Aniello, decided to put a stoner spin on the genre, they centered their time travel pipe dream around the only logical choice: A bong.

I think it's safe to say that Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was everyone's least favorite aspect of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Sometime between spring and summer my work wardrobe seemed to lose its luster. My once pretty '50s-style floral dresses appeared faded (and not in the purposefully retro sense) and if I showed up to the office in skinny jeans and a Breton tee on one more Monday, I feared I might get kicked out of the fashion department. Being the Style photo editor, I spend most of my days gazing (longingly) at celebs on the red carpet and big city streets. So naturally the pieces I really want are way out of my budget. And I don't even mean the Peter Pilotto, Roksanda Ilincic and Monique Lhuillier get-ups. I'd gladly add a Cushnie et Ochs, Thakoon or Matthew Williamson number to my closet. Then, I had a thought: What if......

What if... We can dream, and thanks to computers, we can make those dreams real. Sort of. I was tipped off yesterday on a video going around YouTube that remixes and edits the latest Spectre trailer so that James Bond is played by Roger Moore, not Daniel Craig. It's not as bad as you think, and it actually uses some very creative editing to pull off the feeling that this could actually be real. As a huge Bond fan myself, I was skeptical about this and whether it would be jittery or smooth, and it actually works well together. The shots he found of Moore fit rather perfectly. Makes me more excited for Spectre. "Q - have I ever let you down?" Below is the new trailer for Roger Moore Back as Bond! What if... Pixar's Inside Out is coming up in just a few weeks, and it's likely this teaser is attached to that release. This is the same teaser that Disney has been showing, setting up the basic backstory for the movie. What if the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs didn't actually hit Earth, and they went on to live for years, what would be different? Well, people would be pets, dinosaurs would be the dominate species. There's a hint at that story in the footage at the end. Fire it up! Fans of the Buffy/Angel franchises got a double helping of crossover episodes in late November 1999. With Angel skulking in the shadows in Sunnydale for Pangs, Buffy repaid the compliment by going to La to yell at her former squeeze. If the lacklustre Pangs kept the two apart, then I Will Remember You sees them finally achieve their goal of being a regular, loved-up couple.
At least for 20-ish minutes, any road. This is Angel, don't forget. The man doesn't brood without good reason, given that he's a walking bad luck magnet. I Will Remember You sums up Angel's somewhat hapless existence in that he has to give up the one thing that he's ever wanted in order to be the champion for good. For the more weepy of Angel fans, be warned: you may flood your own lounge by crying rivers in the last five minutes of this episode.

My first contribution for "What If?" week here at HitFix asked a very simple question. That's an easy one because it's an either/or proposition, and honestly, it's something I've thought about so many times in the last 20 years that it seemed like the most immediate and obvious topic to cover. There's another question that I've been turning over for a while now, and it's a little more complicated. Part of...
