Sequences in the pilot featuring the plane crash with the four protagonist were cut from the TV promos after Brazilian country singer Marília Mendonça - and other three people - perished in a similar accident. Creator Mauro Wilson commented that "life pens terrible scripts".
Both Giovanna Antonelli and Micheli Machado debuted on television as stage assistants and dancers to Angélica in her children shows. Antonelli as part of Clube da Criança (1983) and Machado in subsequent productions, until Angélica abandoned that format in the late 1990s.
Mauro Wilson was inspired by his own annual Christmas specials Os Amadores (2005) to create this series.
Originally titled "Death Can Wait".
Fernanda Montenegro andPatricia Pillar were considered to portray Death, but creator Mauro Wilson wanted a trans actor for the role, and thus was Nany People cast.
