Christopher Nolan has hailed ‘Dune: Part Two’ as a “remarkable piece of work”.The blockbuster - which is an adaptation of the second half of author Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi book of the same name - garnered plenty of critical praise when it released in March, and now Nolan, 54, has weighed in to the discussion, dubbing the movie as a “miraculous job of adaptation”.Appearing at a recent DGA (Director's Guild of America) panel for ‘Dune: Part two’ alongside the film’s creator Denis Villeneuve, the ‘Oppenheimer’ filmmaker said: “Taking the second half and making an incredible conclusion to the story […] What a remarkable piece of work.” ‘The Dark Knight’ director compared Villeneuve’s second ‘Dune’ instalment to that of ‘Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back’, which he said was his “favourite” in George Lucas’ sci-fi franchise.Nolan continued: “If, to me, ‘Dune’ was like ‘Star Wars...

Well, if you have been keeping tabs on all the recent rumors and were thinking that Troy Baker’s involvement in Naughty Dog’s new project could only mean The Last of Us Part 3, you might want to take a seat. According to the latest reports, it’s true that Baker will be working with the studio again, but not in the way many fans were hoping.
Fans are excited to see what Baker will take part in. | Image Credit: Naughty Dog
However, instead of playing Joel Miller in The Last of Us 3, Baker’s next role seems to be attached to a whole new project directed by Neil Druckmann. While fans might have been hoping for the return of their favorite survivor, this news could be a bit of a gut punch for those who still hope to see Joel in another chapter in The Last of Us saga.

Remember the last time you started an epic single-player game, only to have it sit in your backlog months later, that final mission forever untouched? Well, you’re not alone. In fact, according to former Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig, this might be a bigger problem than we realize.

The veteran developer behind the Uncharted series has some strong opinions about how modern games like Red Dead Redemption and God of War approach storytelling. And let’s just say, she’s not exactly thrilled about the fact that most of us never see how these epic tales end.
It’s a bit like buying a movie ticket and walking out halfway through, or picking up a book you’ll never finish. Except in this case, we’re talking about games that cost millions to make and...

The gaming industry has seen its fair share of high-profile departures, but few have sparked as much speculation and controversy as Amy Hennig’s exit from Naughty Dog in 2014. The creative force behind the Uncharted series left the studio under mysterious circumstances, taking with her nearly eight months of work on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

While Hennig has consistently maintained a diplomatic stance about her departure, citing only “creative differences,” her rare comments about her final days at the studio paint a picture of an increasingly demanding environment. In a revealing 2019 interview, she opened up about the toll that game development was taking on developers, though she carefully avoided pointing fingers.

Faith is a tricky subject and it gets even trickier when talked about in a public platform. Many actors have shied away from discussing religion publicly in order to not alienate any of their fan bases, but not Denzel Washington.
The Gladiator II star has been vocal about his faith and the impact religion had on his personal life and career for a long time now. Washington emphasized curating a strong bond with the heavenly being on several occasions but his recent statement might hurt some sentiments. The Malcolm X actor said that people in Hollywood did not like talking about religion and his views burned a lot of bridges. Atheists may not like to hear this, but according to the actor religious stars did not earn major accolades.

The Uncharted series is one of gaming’s most iconic franchises, and Amy Hennig has been at the helm of this success. For a franchise that would become similar to Tomb Raider at the time, the decision to make Nathan Drake the protagonist wasn’t random. It was a choice shaped by the industry’s dynamics and cultural influences.

We have apparently seen the end of the Indiana Jones franchise, as Harrison Ford has stated that The Dial Of Destiny is the last time he’ll don the fedora and whip. Well, it will be the action and adventure franchise’s end unless Disney decides to squeeze every last drop they can out of it, which is never out of the question. Film fans always need something else to fill in their viewing void, so what are the best adventure movies like Indiana Jones for fans of the Indiana Jones series to check out?

The gaming industry is no stranger to behind-the-scenes drama, but few controversies have sparked as much debate as the internal shake-ups at Naughty Dog during the transition between The Last of Us and Uncharted 4. In a global movie marketplace, films can be banned from select countries for split-second moments. Disney's live-action 2017 adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast," for example, was restricted from playing in both Kuwait and a city in Alabama due to a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot of two men dancing, while Pixar's "Lightyear" ended up banned in 14 countries due to a shot of two women sharing a brief, chaste queer kiss. Institutional homophobia unfortunately isn't new or surprising, but plenty of movies have also been banned for other reasons ranging from depictions of time travel (in the case of "Back to the Future") to "The Da Vinci Code" and its exploration of Christian apocrypha.
What's ban-worthy in one country may not even be noticeable in another, as is the case with the prop choice that led to the Tom Holland-starring "Uncharted" being banned in Vietnam and the Philippines. Ruben Fleischer's adaptation...

The project will be written and executive produced by Daniel Casey. Other executive producers include Karim Zreik under his Cedar Tree Productions banner’s overall deal, Ari Arad and EA’s Michael Gamble.
News of the TV series was first revealed back in 2021, but there had been no updates since then. There have also been various failed attempts to adapt the game into a feature film. Specific plot details for the upcoming series have not been disclosed.
The video game franchise depicts a distant future where humanity and several alien civilizations have colonized the galaxy using technology left behind by advanced precursor civilizations.
The first three games in the triology follow Commander Shepard, who attemps to save the Milky Way Galaxy from a race of ancient, hibernating machines known as the Reapers.

Renowned game director Amy Hennig is often celebrated for her pivotal work on the Uncharted series. But when reflecting on her career in 2019, Hennig revealed that her biggest regret was in a different title, one that predates her Uncharted fame. That game is Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
Despite its acclaim and influence on gaming, she wishes that the Soul Reaver series had been explored further. And her wishes may be soon fulfilled as Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 are set to get remasters in December 2024. If these are successful, we could potentially have more entries soon after.

But what happens when that birth is fraught with doubt, skepticism, and the looming specter of failure? Enter Amy Hennig, the visionary behind the Uncharted series, who found herself in exactly that position during the early days of Nathan Drake’s adventures.

As we look back on the franchise that redefined action-adventure gaming, it’s hard to imagine a time when Uncharted wasn’t a household name. Yet, as Hennig once revealed in a candid interview, the road to success was anything but smooth.

When people look back on the Uncharted series for all that it accomplished, they tend to mention its storytelling and unforgettable characters, something that kept improving with each entry in the series.

Amazon MGM Studios’ big $200M Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans Santa Claus caper movie, Red One, landed on tracking recently and it’s eyeing a $36M opening in U.S./Canada with a chance for upside. The Jake Kasdan directed reteam with Johnson post their Jumanji movies opens on Nov. 15.
Red One was originally green lit for streaming, however, Amazon MGM Studios pivoted to theatrical after the movie tested well. Essentially when it comes to an Amazon MGM Studios deciding to go theatrical on a movie that was originally conceived for streaming, it boils down to whether the studio can cover their domestic P&a costs at the box office. Hence, there’s that confidence with Red One. Warner Bros. has overseas on the Seven Bucks production reteam per their offshore deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
Positive signs are that Red One is not just trending with guys, but Johnson’s female followers as well.

Amy Hennig is at the helm of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a new WWII-era game starring Black Panther and Captain America. The gaming industry icon is known for creating the acclaimed Uncharted series and should bring a familiar blend of cinematic storytelling and character-driven action to this project.

In the fast-paced world of video game development, it’s easy to forget that the classics we hold dear might not have seen the light of day in today’s market. Case in point: Uncharted, the beloved action-adventure series that put Naughty Dog on the map.
But according to Amy Hennig, the mastermind behind the franchise, pitching a game like Uncharted today would be a tough sell.

Tom Holland teased during an interview on “Good Morning America” that he said yes to starring in Christopher Nolan’s next movie without any knowledge of what the project actually is about. Variety confirmed earlier this month that Holland will headline Nolan’s new film alongside Matt Damon. It will mark the Oscar-winning director’s follow-up to “Oppenheimer.”
“All I can say is that I’m incredibly excited,” Holland said about acting for Nolan. “And obviously honored, but that’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know.”
When the “Good Morning America” hosts asked if Nolan was a director Holland would say yes to “sight unseen,” the actor responded: “100% without a shadow of a doubt.”
“When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime,” Holland added. “It was reminiscent of getting the call about Spider-Man 10 years ago. It’s an amazing thing for me.

Naughty Dog is known for its linear, story-driven games like The Last of Us and Uncharted. But the studio is reportedly planning a bold change in its next game. According to recent sources, the studio’s upcoming project will embrace more “player freedom,” a concept previously unexplored in Naughty Dog’s repertoire.

This change is intriguing, as studio co-president Neil Druckmann has previously expressed admiration for titles like Elden Ring. Naughty Dog’s next game might be one that allows players to explore and uncover stories at their own pace. Whether it’s good is yet to be seen but Naughty Dog has the track record for it.
Naughty Dog Might Be Cooking Up a Miyazaki-like Masterpiece
In a recent MinnMax podcast episode, Ben Hanson, founder of MinnMax, shared some crumbs from an insider who worked on the upcoming Naughty Dog project.

Christopher Nolan has added some more mega star power to his next feature. Tom Holland is in talks to star in the feature alongside Matt Damon, IndieWire has learned.
No details on the plot have been revealed just yet or even a title, but there have been rumors that the film is a father-son tale that is also not set in the present day — so it’s possible Nolan has found his father-son pairing, at least.
Universal had no comment.
For what will be his 13th feature, Nolan is returning to Universal Pictures after the near-billion dollar success of the Best Picture-winning “Oppenheimer.” The studio is reportedly eyeing a release date for July 17, 2026, in IMAX, with the hope is that the film will begin shooting in early 2025.

What many don’t realize is that twenty one years ago, in 2003, we got a hidden gem that unofficially is the best Uncharted movie so far and it is called, The Rundown! Video game adaptations often get a skeptical eye, and unfortunately, the official Uncharted film didn’t do much to change that perception.
Dwayne Johnson in The Rundown | Credits: Universal Pictures
This left a lot of people going back to rediscover The Rundown, the unofficial adaptation that actually did justice to the game, and it came out even before the game itself!
Dwayne Johnson Gave Us the Best Uncharted Movie in 2003!
So, how similar is The Rundown to Uncharted? Let’s break it down! The Uncharted video games definitely take a page from the Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider playbook. With its gut-punching action, strong and complex characters, and witty one-liners, one can easily argue that The Rundown likely inspired Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

After starring in six MCU movies, Tom Holland is currently gearing up to shoot Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Avengers: Secret Wars. The wall-crawler's next solo outing is also expected to be the start of a new trilogy.

Sony and Amazon have reportedly ordered a creative reset of their planned adaptation of God Of War, the PlayStation hack’n’slash videogame series.

Tom Holland had tasted fame at an unprecedented level at a very early age. For the British star, Hollywood was his playground sandbox and movies were his medium of first expression. In the years since his Marvel fame, Holland found the price was asking too much of his sanity, peace, and mental health. His function as a celebrity in modern society was getting increasingly demanding, from signing autographs and taking pictures to bearing the brunt of dissenting fans and tabloids who could not comprehend his need to log out of social media.
