Now that the wheels are turning on The Purge 5 and we’re less than one year from it storming cinemas, news pertaining to the next installment in one of Blumhouse Productions’ most notorious horror franchises should gradually start pouring in. In fact, we just recently learned that Everardo Gout will be directing the picture.
Now that we have that out of the way, the fanbase can only continue pondering two things: where this flick falls on the overall timeline and who’ll round out the cast. When it comes to the former, your guess is as good as mine, as this could be set after either The First Purge or Election Year.
Well, if things are going the way we think, someone could very well give Frank Grillo competition in terms of sheer badassery – and it’s actually Sylvester Stallone. The reason we’re bringing this up is that key...

★★★☆☆Nominated for the Caméra d'Or prize at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, Everardo Valerio Gout's multi-layered Mexican crime drama Days of Grace (Días de gracia) makes its way onto DVD in the UK this week after a prolonged spell in distribution purgatory. Stylishly shot on location in Mexico City over the course of three subsequent FIFA World Cups, the film follows a central triumvirate of morally obtuse individuals, each desperately trying to survive on the mean streets of this hostile concrete jungle. Gout's feature debut may owe several debts to the hugely successful Brazilian Elite Squad series, but also carries the necessary bite to match its rabid bark.

"Mexico City. 2002, 2006, 2010. A cop. A hostage. A wife. Corruption, violence, vengeance. Three destinies, during 30 days, during three Soccer World Cups. Three ways to fight in order to survive." This is the synopsis of "Days Of Grace." Starring Eva Longoria, Carlos Bardem (Javier's brother), Miguel Rodarte and Paulina Gaitan, while writer/Director Everardo Gout's first feature doesn't have a U.S. release date yet (it screened out of competition at Cannes last year), it does have a rather interesting soundtrack worth noting and maybe that'll give it extra attention.
Out digitally April 3rd via Lakeshore Records, the soundtrack includes Massive Attack's Robert "3D" Del Naja featuring the one and only sultry-voiced Scarlett Johannsson, (presumably a remix of her "Summertime" George Gerswhin song that she performed on the Unexpected Dreams – Songs From the Stars compilation).

Hours after Variety broke the story that the film was indeed going to be ready for Cannes, the highly coveted The Skin I Live In has been confirmed as part of the 2011 edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Pedro Almodóvar's has been a V.I.P of the festival for the longest time and being that this is his most risky project and enters new territory with its change of genre -- it was almost impossible not to imagine this anywhere else but Cannes. We expect this to play towards the end of the festival - we're sure that he is putting the final touches on the film. The Spanish filmmaker recently shared in his good news declaring: “I'm going to Cannes with the ambition to perform a good role in this worldwide rendez-vous, the most important of the cinema d'auteur, but I am not thinking about prizes. I...
