Ran across the film just scrolling for something to watch. The trailer had some serious 80's vibes but caught my attention. Man I wasn't disappointment. This film is a fun rollercoaster of events following Natasha and Vern. Their chemistry just draws you in. The first scene had me hooked. I had to know what this Father Rodger was after. The journey Natasha and Vern go on is so fun to watch. The filmmakers did a great job of making something that's rather serious have beats of just funny oh cr*p moments. Vern is absolutely hilarious and Natasha is cold calculating but just trying to keep her and her family safe. You feel a little guilty rooting for them as they are kinda bad people but in the end they are just trying to survive and boy do you want them to survive! Great find and I can't wait to see what else these filmmakers do.

As I write this review this movie gets a 6.7 rating. It doesn't deserve it. Sure, it's an OK watch but it's not a 6.7.
It's a B movie through and through. The acting is fairy mediocre and the exposition is rather slow.
Also the plot is rather elusive for quite a long time into the film. It tries, in a way, to be a Quentin Tarantino movie, but the director doesn't have a quarter of the talent.
Some of the ancillary characters are downright dumb. As the movie plods on it becomes rather boring to be honest.
In sum, it was just too slow and poorly directed for my taste. You might disagree, but I warned ya.

It's mind-boggling to me when someone writes a review of a movie and automatically assigns the film a low score based on the production budget size. I have watched my fair share of big Hollywood flicks that were terrible and several low-budget films that knocked my socks off.
For me, Carp-e-Diem is a perfect movie. Is it a 10? In my eyes, it is. Maybe in someone else's eyes, it's a six or 7.
I look at a movie and grade it based on its entertainment value. Was the film enjoyable? Was the film entertaining? Was the acting convincing? In my opinion, Carp-e-Diem checked off those boxes.
In my view, this film does not deserve a rating of 4, and I am tired of people beating up on titles just because the corporate movie giants don't release them.
You have been warned!
