Warms your heart and also makes you feel a little bit guilty
Cannot say that the movie is flawless, but certainly watchable. As always, Amitabh and Neena Gupta are amazing and other actors have done their part well. A typical family drama with emotional angle+ few comedy scenes especially with unexpected performance of Sunil Grover. Few scenes will bring tears to your eyes if you usually get emotional during movies (I do!). The movie will definitely remind you of Irrfan's dialogue from Life of Pi : "I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye." And I don't understand such a low rating. Definitely you can give it a try.
heartwarming family drama.
A lovely movie that shows the struggles of a father and all his kids as they grapple with the sudden, shocking death of their beloved wife and mother. People are never ready to face the agony of losing a loved one, especially the heart of the family, the matriarch. This is a journey of evolving raw grief to content acceptance, rigid mechanical ritualism to easygoing camaraderie. Amitabh gives a master class on the agony of a man who loses the love of his life, trying very hard to come to terms with the full impact. It's heartening to see that even in dark grief, strained family bonds can be repaired and people can come together. A really heartwarming family drama.

Emotional and great msg about life
First I thought I was in a wrong movie, the movie was not going anywhere but then movie picked up and how,
Amit ji was amazing "everyone needs to turn right" that dialogue took me away.
Three brothers are amazing in their respective roles.
Rashmika was not fit rest every thing was amazing.
Vikas able to create good movie.
First half was not that much impactful but second half is full of emotion .
The best part of the movie is 3 ladies "Chandigarh bablie" their role and acting is fabulous.
Sunil was fine as well
Neena ji was amazing.
Go watch the movie now with your family maa aur papa.

Even Amitabh Bachchan's fine performance cannot save this ill-conceived tragi-comedy
Tragi-comedies are a very tricky genre to execute well on screen. While there have been numerous cases of success in Hollywood like "Amélie (2011)", "The Darjeeling Limited (2007)" and "Death At A Funeral (2010)", the genre is still in its nascent stage in Bollywood and India in general with only a few hits to its name, that too primarily after their OTT releases-like "Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi (2019)" and "Pagglait (2021)". So it was surprising that director Vikas Bahl, the visionary behind "Queen (2014)" and "Super 30 (2019)" chose the mainstream theatre release format for this genre-blender and it seems like this bravery was ill-conceived.
Amitabh Bachchan stars as "Harish Bhalla", the patriarch of the Bhalla household, who is just coming to terms with the sudden death of his loving wife "Gayatri", played by the effervescent Neena Gupta. Tasked with informing their busy and distant children of the tragic news, how he navigates the ensuing funeral and the idiosyncrasies of the family as they come together after a long time form the rest of the narrative. Rashmika Mandanna plays "Tara", Harish's only daughter and designated black sheep, after her consistent scorn towards his religious conservatism, made worse by her choice to go against his wishes and date a Muslim.
Despite its intriguing premise and a group of fine actors, a disjointed screenplay that moves along like a sequence of unrelated scenes without any real cohesion makes "Goodbye" a tedious watch. The director that gave us such natural comedy in "Queen" struggles to mount situations that deliver genuine humour, with most of the gags coming across as forced and contrived. Rashmika struggles with her Hindi accent as expected, this being her first Hindi original movie, but makes the best of an underwritten role, especially in the emotional sequences.
We are noboby to judge an Amitabh Bachchan performance and the veteran tries his best to salvage a meandering script. A scene where he gives a final goodbye to his beloved wife is a sure tearjerker but such sequences are few and far between in an otherwise, largely lackluster project which oscillates between drama and comedy inorganically, failing to deliver in both genres with equal aplomb. "Goodbye" is one film where I couldn't wait for the film to end and say "Goodbye" to an abysmal theatre experience. Not recommended!

Watchable once because of Amitabh
Goodbye is a movie f the void in a family when the person who keeps they together suddenly expires. How the family gradually comes to terms with it and slowly bonds with each other, many of whom are not in talking terms with each other.
Amitabh is at the centre and is the soul of the movie. He gives another excellent performance.
This is Rashmika's hindi debut and she does well.
Sunil grover also does well in a short role.
There are lot of comments on rituals and interaction between people who are part of funeral. Some make you smile but many are over the top.
The film also drags as it becomes repetitive, probably editing would have made it better.
Similiar content was presented better in movies like Paglait & Ram Prasad ki Tehrvi.

Superb
A movie full of emotion and suspense. After a long time watched such nice film from bollywood. It will definitely make you cry sometimes.
Nice to see how beautifully it make us think to difference between faith in our culture/rituals and blind faith.
If comes to some learning from movie, then let we also ready for our right turn and live a life that make everyone happy. No one knows when death will come, let celebrate each moment before that. In the compitition of become so much well advanced, should not forget to spent some quality time with our loved ones, especially parents. And we always feel gratitude and thankful for everything they had done for us.
Awesome work by whole cast.

Emotions work beautifully!
The film may have hundreds of problems, and a boatload of flaws but through apt execution, it evolved to be something that was able to hold its ground pretty well.
Amongst a bunch of speculative rationales for why it may have succeeded, I genuinely feel their utilization of human emotions got the job done here, or you can say it is because of the meaningful confabulations deftly laid out in a back-and-forth fashion or the actors who have had to partake in those didactic chatters or perhaps a mixture of both that ultimately led this narrative to a heartwarming closure.
This is a film that will remind you of your close ones, more meaningful to those who had lost someone they dearly cared about. This tale will make you remember the memories you shared, all those joyous moments you spent together, and even those arguments and fights you got yourselves into, both good and bad things populate their respective spaces in your unstained vase of recollections.
Keep it safe, don't ever let it go, it's too precious.

A good GOODBYE!
The movie is heart warming with a beautiful message. Its a smooth but emotional ride with a lot of teary eyed moments beacause its something no one can accept so easily.
The music is the complete master of this film. The bgm and the songs are simply brilliant. It adds to the mood of the film and 'Jai Kaal Maha Kaal' song became my favourite. Amit Trivedi gets the maximum credit. Its too good.
The cast were brilliant. All acted their parts well. But Amitabh Bachan was great. They made me feel emotional too.
Finally a emotional ride and go for it if you really love a melodrama with a beautiful message that brings smile on your lips.

9 star been removed for rashmika mandanna acting
Amazing script . For those who question logic in our tradition followed from ages. Big B has been amazing. We don't have to talk about his acting. But perfect example why the directors shouldn't go behind a cute face for acting. There are a lot of natural stars but a director chose a cute face over talent long back and now its haunting. Poor acting by rashmika. A good actress would have made the movie a great to watch and would add real feelings to the dialogue delivery and the scenes been played. So its just been about rashmika mandanna here. Coming to the movie a must watch for every indian..

Emotional roller coaster
The movie is really a masterpiece, perfect dialogues and the honest acting , the story and the engagement during all the scenes might be the recipe of the complete emotional comedy movie.
I loved the fact that we cannot go without having tears.
How the sudden incident happened and how they all manage with all of emotions, now they only have the person's memories.
I have cried alot and also thinking that we all have to go through with the same situation in any days.
Apart of all its a complete package of emotions and love. This movie create a strong bond between families.
Wonderful and touching storyline.

Looks like a mirror of Bangali movie "bela seshe" &" bela suru"
The plot was good and emotional. But if you have already watched the Bangali movie "bela seshe or bela suru" then it is not going to be a new type of movie to you. Otherwise everything is perfect and movies like this should be made to attach our family bonding. Sometimes we may not be able to understand someones influence in our life untill he/she is gone. Getting realising something late is not a bad thing but onec the person was gone you can not undo what you have done to him/her. It might be good or bad. Those things might be small one but those memories will live inside you forver in your life. In short I can say, always give importance the people who are around you.
Happy watching.
Happy watching.

Disappointed
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Neena Gupta there's nothing good about the movie. At the beginning you start to feel the pain because of the initial scenes of Amitabh Bachchan but as soon as Rashmika comes in the frame, you can sense her discomfort with hindi language and her not being able to feel the true emotions of the scenes. The background score is off.
Coming to Direction, it just feels clueless in terms of what the story of film wants to say. The humor in funeral scenes are not at all funny and feels weird because of the cluelessness of the motive to give a message.
A true opportunity waisted!

A Good Emotional Ride
The film falls flat in its comic timing though the comedy should have been dark or slightly dark like most funeral comic family dramas do.. There is nothing wrong in the writing apart from certain scenes being overtly on-the-face comedy (the beginning scenes) that is obviously forced on the characters to enact. The writing is slow in the first half and the to & fro to the past and present is definitely not working. The dialogues are again very silly, neither realistic nor cinematic or maybe it's the dialogue delivery because once Sunil enters the frame the dialogues are interesting even after he leaves the frame. There are illogical scenes too (car phone speaker scene).
The casting of Rashmika Mandanna is what brings the bigger part of the film down. She can't speak hindi well. Her pronunciations are yuck. Whenever she speaks either she tries hard on concentrating on her pronunciations or on her acting because none of them works. I think its the language that is holding her back from acting. There is no free flow of emotions.
The film's best moments are by Sunil Grover's Panditji character. Not that I am a Sunil fan but the character is like the savior in the midst of bad acting. Amitabh Bachchan is as usual good but his character is written half heartedly. He has done justice to his role though.
Neena hardly has any dialogue and yet she is a ray of sunshine. The lady who plays the care taker has very little to do but her simple looks and expressions are so much better than Rashmika's acting.
In short, letting the badly written first half, Rashmika's presence & pronunciations, the film in general has a good flow and is worth a watch.

Goodbye
Goodbye is a story of a family dealing with the loss of their loved one who was an anchor of their life, and the turbulence this loss causes among the rest of the members.
High on emotion, the first half deals with the family's struggle to come to terms with the death of their loved one and an appropriate way to cremate them in a ritual that will ensure peace for the departed. The second half deals with their journey to scatter the ashes and trying to cope without the person who was solely responsible to glue this dysfunctional family together.
The movie has a depressing tone throughout, which you would expect from a movie that revolves around death for it its entire runtime. I felt that the movie dragged out a lot. They should have wrapped it up in 2hrs, as compared to its actual runtime. Some sequences feel too forced without triggering any emotion. Although there is decent humour in some parts, most of it feels out of place, and awkward and hardly makes you chuckle. Neena Gupta shines in every sequence she features in, however, small they are. I feel she was underused considering the entire movie circles around her character who was loved by everyone. Amitabh Bachchan does not require an intro or validation. However, I found him a bit awkward during the most crucial sequence where he has to say his final goodbyes to his wife and the pillar of his life. His acting and dialogue delivery were not up to the mark considering that this particular scene involves a lot of emotion and was certain to trigger people's reactions. It feels too bland. You will see yourself tilting in your seat towards the nearest speaker to make out what he is trying to say.
The biggest letdown is Rashmika Mandanna. She just cannot act! Her dialogue delivery lacks punch, she carries a heavy accent that sounds misplaced, and her overall acting is quite irritating. The rest of the cast are decent in their places.
Overall, a film riding on emotion should have had a better impact and a more natural screenplay and acting. Alas, a missed opportunity.

Sad plot can also give you some peace in the end
Well beforehand I knew the plot of this movie but I still wanted to watch it. After watching this and crying during the whole movie I realised my decision was absolutely correct.
I never knew that some silly movie can made me cry this much.
It is based on the saddest truth of life that some day or other our mom gonna leave us alone. It portrays us the whole time. It some us how irresponsible we are how busy we get in our life that some times we are not able to get back to our dearest mom. It tells us that this is normal there is nothing wrong with it . It never meant we don't love them we don't miss them. It tells us that by accepting small rituals does not make us fool but it just makes us humble I seriously had no idea how after crying for so long only in last 10 mins the storyteller prepares us to be strong.
I am no one to judge the actors, script writers or the director but still I wanna say no one can do better than them.
My love to the whole team. A must watch. Don't push it away as it is going to hurt u ; it definitely will but trust me if u watch till end it's peaceful.

Keep your tissue paper in hand
I watched this movie for Big B and Rashmika Mandana. Though movie runs very slowly, written poorly and screenplay even the worst , I totally loved their performances. Music was the soul of this movie and Mahakal and Chanave songs are special one.
I cried literally in multiple scenes...Sunil Grover's performance was the best part of the movie. Six stars rated for BigB, RM, Stupid (pet dog) and Nakul (small cameo for 5 min.) . This movie connected many dots about life and urban family in a funny way but this movie's soul was disconnected . Movie could have been made much better .
This movie will be remembered for MAHAKAL song.... Good Bye :)

After a long time I am seeing a unique story based Bollywood film which is full of suspense and Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika mandana acting is superb. This film will create a history in Indian cinema. After a long time I am seeing acting of Amitabh Bachchan which is outstanding. Many times I have seen that only dubbed movie release in Bollywood but made a superb movie. In Goodbye movie classical music we can listen and music is fit according to situations and condition which is best. Audience are happy to see this movie and supporting very well which is good. According to me I'll give 10/10 rating.

Decent one time watch
Two north Indians give birth to a South Indian accent Rashmika? Neenah Gupta and Sunil acting is too much to miss, Amitabh gets chNce to show his acting skills beautifully, the movie shows step by step procedure on what happens after death, Hum saath saath hain, was an unrealistic movie, this movie was more realistic, the movie made me emotional, I truly loved it, all actors played there role beautifully except Rashmikas over acting and South accent in hindi born to North Indian couples, the way Sunil shows how a religious man never gets angry is good, Rashmika is angry throughout the movie for no reasons, all the time,
Not comedy just a funeral.
The message was supposed to be good but it was not potrayed in the best way. The entire first half felt like we were attending an actual funeral and nothing else. It feels like we paid to watch a funeral which we could have seen free of cost at a smashan. The genre say comedy but there's isnt any comedy at all which is quite deceiving. Ws went to watch this movie only because the genre say comedy but i could see more than half of the theatre in tears and sorrow I mean after all who would be laughing at a funeral. The message that they were trying to give was kind of lost. And over all quite a boring movie i'd say rather go attend a funeral than wasting money and watching this movie. If someone asks me where i had been today say i had been to a funeral would make more sense than saying i had gone for a movie. Very disappointed!

Beautiful combination of emotions and comedy
What a funny and emotional film.
After a very long time, Bollywood has produced such a stunning film.
Death is the final but most important reality of life, and this film recounts the entire tale about it.
The movie masterfully depicts the feelings of the entire family when the most significant member of the family departs in the interim.
Different family members' emotional ups and downs are expertly depicted.
All of the actors gave their all in their performances, but Amitabh Sir & Meena Madam's chemistry easily outshines that of any brand-new coupling.
Rashmika Mandana does excellent acting.
After a long wait, Bollywood has finally produced a quality family film.
I adored it so.
Please watch it with your family.

One time watch for Mr. Bachan
The only disappointment is the movie. RASHMIKA. Rashmika's acting is so fake. Her Hindi accent sound bad. Didnt the casting team find any body else. Mr. Bachan is good as always. Rest of the cast has done well. Good movie overall.

Boring and tasteless
IMDB is having some serious high reviews for this, to my surprise again.
Family drama based movie, with below average performances, except for the sheer class performance as always by Big B, but i guess he is above and beyond any review, any ratings now after so much successful life career. He was the only one who was carrying the movie on his shoulder, but the story, though could be interesting, but was presented in below ordinary way, killing the feel of family being together over a tragedy.
Sunil Grover should have stick to Kapil Sharma show, where he was actually showing his art, these roles are not doing any good to him.
Nothing special, nothing extra, just plain and tasteless.

An emotional family drama!
Goodbye works both as a family drama and satire. It is one of the rare films that talk about death. The film initially has a light satirical approach but turns to an emotional watch towards the later half. The film boasts of some good performances and music. There is still no other actor like Amitabh Bachchan. This is yet another masterclass from the legend. Rashmika Mandanna gives a good performance in her first hindi film but her accent sticks out like a sore thumb. Neena Gupta is evergreen. Sunil Grover is delightful even in a brief role. Music by Amit Trivedi stands out. All songs are good and go well along with the story. Director Vikas Bahl will make you cry with some heart touching scenes. Watch this one with your family.
