Really wanted to like this but its to fake, the gang jackets look new no wear n tear the dialogue is hap hazard and unrealistic.
Wants to be "Once were Warrior's" but is a sad "Savage" clone.

Not gonna make a mark anytime soon. 'Vegas' is a wannabe take on a over crowded genre.

The idea of this appealed, but political correctness and an insistence to promote Maori culture seem to get in the way of the credibility of the story line. It seems to glorify Maori culture and violence, when gang members are nothing but thugs. Yes, maybe some fo them are family men too, but in general they are just part of a boys club. I am sure there was a way to include Maori culture in a more positive light. But ultimately, stink acting bro, stink script writing.
This overacted, stupid program was just ridiculous. I tried to watch it - TVNZ pushed it so hard with so much advertising, but the acting and the plotline were laughable at best. A massive fail all around. If I could give this a negative score I would. It's definitely not worth wasting your time to watch this rubbish.

It's up there for me! This show really caught me off guard. I love the style, and honestly, who ever said the acting is crap must have crooked eyes and deaf ears. The acting in this is awesome.
I know a few of the people in this show, and they made me forget how I see them in real life. That's a job well done in my books!
The editing is great! Soundscape is awesome and the story is really building up. I'm only in EP.3 but I am really liking it! Proud of this team for bringing it together and am looking forward to seeing how the rest unfolds.
Big wero to those viewers here in New Zealand. Help support the industry and work coming out of our country and stop hating. It's always Kiwis who are quick to burn down the whare that took so long to build here in NZ.
More brown people on screen, and more opportunities for our Maori rangatahi is a good thing. The themes of this show may not sit right with a lot of Maori but consider what it does for the younger ones in the show. The ability to get more work in front of the camera and land bigger things in the future so they can tell their own stories! Our stories.
This is for now, and I'm sure their is a much bigger message underlining in the show. Whakaronga mai.

I was actually quite surprised, I'm almost enjoying as much as SOA. And that's saying ALOT, because I was one of the original viewers. Way before the t-shirts and other paraphernalia came out (trashy, not flashy)!
I have 1 more episode left, & I'm definitely a fan. Yeah, it's a tad cheesy here & there but those Taz's is like us Cunuck's eh? Ya gotta like that!!

So far so good, to me Nz shows are boring but this is good, it's something different and it also has a great story line.
Just wish there were more of a background of the story they just jump in with lots of action , but no background to the problems . .Characters work well together for the most part . Don't get all the hate on the reviews , to much reality tv ? Hope this series sticks around for a while and we get to know more about the characters .
I wanted to like this, the storyline sounded good, but it's just bad, poor script and bad acting.

I wanted to like this, the script, acting, lack of chemistry between the actors is just bad. Rena Owen and Katie Wolfe, both great actors, couldn't save it.

There's so much to love here. Great cinematography, directing, fresh performances and writing that dares to be bold and big and yes, if you're going to integrate Shakespearian tragedy, at times melodramatic but that's refreshing because this story is King Lear meets MacBeth with some Julius Caesar ( I think that's coming?) overlaid with obvious aroha for a story about a protagonist seeking change and redemption; a gang leader trying to make change for the good in his own mismanaged way. In gangland (Pakeha, Maori, Italian, Russian, Chinese) that's never going to be an easy road to hoe. Hence we have a dramatic premise. This is a universal story given some unique culture specifics that work well - put it this way - does the world need another Italian mafia story? Not in my world but with this one I'm hooked.
PS - to mschuster-550104 - You're an actor, you don't get all the parts, get over it. Dumb move but at least you're honest I guess. Think twice next time e hoa.

The tensions of blood families that are estranged versus crime/professional families that work together day to day are ratcheted up each episode so far. It's great to see Kiwis on screen being Kiwis.
