Anika C. McFall was the final girl of director Alex Pucci's Camp Slaughter. Wow! A strong black female in the leading role. Anika C. McFall brought strength, personality, and a dimensionality to this role. She wasn't just your typical final girl who ran around and screamed. She was so much more. The slashers of yesteryear like Sean S. Cunningham's Friday the 13th or The Burning didn't have the courage or conviction to do that. Camp Slaughter also featured a young Matt Dallas from the TV series Kyle Xy. We had the chance to ask Anika a few questions about her role in this film and what she's been up to. Here is what she had to say.
So who is Anika C. McFall and what are you all about?
I'm a hybrid! Part edgy vixen, part girl-next-door! I am a Gemini so there's always that ever changing, ever evolving mystique,...

Billy Zane will product as well as direct "Photismos" (in Greek means illumination). The film is a co-production with Greek partners, from a script he wrote on the island of Paros. According to Variety, Zane said the project would reflect his Greek heritage. Filming is said to start in Paros some time early next year. The story tells of the relationship between a man and his uncle and apparently touches on "philosophy, theology, Pythagoras' theories, geometry….and Frisbees," said Zane. Budget is around $2 million and Zane is currently in talks with producers in Greece. Zane, whose biggest role was in James Cameron's "Titanic," has steady work with latest credits including "The Confidant," Enemies Among Us" and TV-wise for "The Deep End."...

The careers of most Hollywood actors can be plotted along a bell curve: anonymity, attention, success, stardom, struggle, decline, anonymity. Most of the recognizable stars who've appeared in movies featured thus far in this straight-to-dvd column have been at the tail end of the bell curve. This week's a little different. We've got a movie starring a guy right on the cusp of a breakout: Boris Kodjoe, one of the leads of J.J. Abrams' new series, "Undercovers." That's fortunate timing indeed for the makers of "The Confidant," released to DVD just in time to take advantage of his increased exposure. And if the show takes off at all, he won't be making too many more movies like it. At least not until he gets to the other side of the bell curve.

A movie premiere just isn't a movie premiere without Bai Ling... At this week's red carpet for The Black Waters of Echo's Pond I chatted with the ubiquitous actress about her two upcoming thrillers, The Gauntlet and The Confidant. Read what she had to say after the jump. "Gauntlet was shot in China," she told me, "It's about six people who are lost, trapped underground, but they have to survive. There's danger and they have lost their memory and they have to fight. They become friends, but in the end they find out only one person has survived, so the test was to kill each other. It's about human potential, human danger, what we are...
