Audience members at the taping of the May 22 edition of Wheel of Fortune were openly disappointed on behalf of finalist Paul Dodson who lost out big-time when faced with a devilishly difficult puzzle. They outright booed when Dodson was unable to complete the puzzle and the answer was revealed to be a near impossible-to-guess word under the category “What Are You Doing?” At that stage of the game a $1 million jackpot was up for grabs. With the usual accompanied R, S, T, L, N, and E, the puzzle board read: “_ _ _ _ _ L _ N _.” Dodson guessed the letters C, H, P, and A, none of which appeared on the board. The final answer was revealed to be “Quibbling” to which the audience first gasped at then proceeded to boo. Dodson, beside host Pat Sajak, encouraged audiences to boo louder, using his arms to ...

Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Back to Black begins in Camden Town, in north London, where a teenage Amy Winehouse (Marisa Abela) flourishes in a family full of musicians. The most important influence on her is her nan, Cynthia (Lesley Manville), from whom she inherits her vintage style and love of jazz. We first see Amy taking to the stage in a local bar to perform “Stronger Than Me,” a song mocking her then-boyfriend for his lack of machismo with regrettable lines like “Feel like a lady, and you my ladyboy” and “Are you gay?”
It’s a triumphant night, with Amy crooning happily while the crowd laps it up. While it’s hardly a scandal that an 18-year-old wrote some dumb lines about a guy she was sick of, it’s more than a little regressive for a 2024 movie to show them off in such a positive way. Regardless, the song...

This article contains Priscilla spoilers.
Director Sofia Coppola scrubs at tarnished memories for the biopic Priscilla. It’s a bold choice since Elvis Presley disciples prefer admiring unvarnished relics in a still-flourishing golden hue. The film’s primary source and title character, Priscilla Presley, has offered no apologies for her time with the mythological musician, just the facts as she remembers them. These recollections do not diminish her love of the man who came to define her existence, but they cloud his legacy to this day.
“Why are you coming for my dad and my family?” Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie Presley wrote Coppola after reading an early draft of the screenplay, as per Variety. “My father only comes across as a predator and manipulative,” the provocative emails insinuated. “As his daughter, I don’t read this and see any of my father in this character. “I watch a rom-com every day, even if it’s just for five minutes,” says New York Times best-selling author, poet and artist Cleo Wade.
For Wade, rom-coms are just one of the many ways she connects herself with the love that she espouses in her work. Throughout her career, Wade has focused on innovative ways to connect — be it her lauded Instagram account or her “Are You Ok” booths, where she has deep conversations with strangers in public parks. “I’m always thinking of how I can create a friend or a companion for the people who can read my work as they go through their lives,” she says.
Wade’s new book, Remember Love: Words for Tender Times, encourages readers to find the love and stillness within themselves in a world filled with chatter. “I did hope when I was writing it that it could give people a...

Zee-Sony Merger Back On Track
The merger of Zee Entertain Enterprises and Sony’s Indian arm looks to be back on track after an order banning Punit Goenka from managing the new entity was lifted yesterday. The merger of Zee and Culver Max Entertainment was given the go-ahead in August, but the merger has run into several problems. The India Securities and Exchange Board had barred Goenka and his father, Zee founder Subhash Chandra, from the boardrooms of listed companies for a year over allegations of insider trading. However, the Securities Appellate Tribunal has overturned that decision, paving the way for the $10B merger to go ahead and for Goenka to resume his role as MD and CEO of Zee. Sony and Zee have been planning the union for over two years now.

Glaive’s debut studio album, I Care So Much That I Don’t Care at All, is bound to make listeners feel a sense of unpleasant voyeurism, filled as it is with grim musings from the 18-year-old about suicide, fentanyl, and general teenage alienation, all slickly packaged for alternative-pop radio. On “Barbie Doll,” he at least appears aware of this development in his discography, admitting that he fears he’s becoming “a commodity.”
Glaive’s mumble rap-inspired voice is limited in range and quality, but the rough edges help capture his feelings of despondency and angst. On “Titziana,” he bitterly lashes out at an ex who betrayed him: “Fuck all the times you left me out to dry/I never got the chance to ask you why,” while “Are You Bipolar One or Two” describes the anxiety he’s experienced during his rise to fame. Finally, 50 years since the publication of the well-loved and iconic coming-of-age novel, a movie adaptation of Judy Blume’s popular book Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is set to hit the theaters.
The film, set in 1970, begins with 11-year-old Margaret Simon (Abby Ryder Fortson) returning to her New York home from summer camp only to discover boxes in the living room and her bedroom. Sylvia (Kathy Bates), Margaret’s grandmother, abruptly informs her that they’ll be moving to New Jersey because Margaret’s father received a big promotion. Margaret is taken aback and distressed by the news.
“Please don’t let New Jersey be too horrible,” prays Margaret to God as her parents pack up the car and head out to the suburbs.

Teen movies are one of the most beloved genres, from John Hughes' Molly Ringwald trilogy to the quest for virginity loss with the help of a warm, apple pie. But there's another part of adolescence that often gets lost on the big screen — especially for women. There are very few stories about the tween years: an uncomfortable and confusing time when you're unsure if you should still sleep with stuffed animals or start stuffing your bra. It involves the uncertainty of puberty, peer pressure, and oppressive school rules. I have so many memories from this formative time period burned into my brain; like the time a boy said I was gross or how desperately I wanted to look like the silky-haired popular girls.
Because of this gap in tween representation on screen, "girls are expected to go straight from 'Doc McStuffins' to 'Euphoria,'" Rachel Shukert shrewdly observed in Vulture.

Judy Blume’s beloved 1970 classic young adult novel finally makes it to the big screen in a sweet film of the same name, Are You There God? It’S Me, Margaret. The biggest question with this charming film version is what took it so long? Maybe it was waiting for writer/director Kelly Fremon Craig, who has crafted a marvelous film adaptation, that balances the novel’s honesty with a lightness and entertaining touch appropriate for the character’s age. An excellent cast, and perfect music from the era, complete the picture.

In the more than 50 years that it took for Judy Blume’s beloved young adult novel Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret to reach movie screens, the world has become a much different place. And yet, books are still being banned from schools and libraries, and the level of openness and honesty that society allows itself when it comes to the changes that girls face on the precipice of puberty is still very much on shaky ground.
Blume’s 1970 classic, which has been challenged by censorious cultural gatekeepers due to its impenitent depictions of first menstruation and mutable religious identity, remains, to its devoted audience, less a touchstone than a veritable lifeline. And if the book itself is no longer as prime a target for censorship today, Blume herself recently mused that, if anything, today’s challenges to books and the conflicts that surround them are more insidious...

Has there ever really been a show like "Barry"? On paper, "Barry" is a half-hour comedy about a hitman who gets bit by the acting bug. Sounds fun, right? Wrong. Well, sort of. Despite its comedic setup, it's probably not even fair to call "Barry" a comedy anymore. Alec Berg and Bill Hader's series started off somewhat light (or as light as a show with frequent murders could be) before descending into a remarkable, almost suffocating darkness. As "Barry" enters its fourth and final season, things have grown increasingly bleak. And if the bleakness doesn't get you, the feverish levels of anxiety will do the trick.
And yet, despite all this, "Barry" is funny. But it's also so much more than the comedy it began as. It's a show about horribly flawed individuals navigating an increasingly dangerous world. When this final season goes for comedy, it's very funny. But...

Don’t mess with soap opera stars, especially Eric Braeden.
The daytime TV legend, who’s starred as Victor Newman on “The Young and the Restless” since 1980, didn’t hold back while reacting to Eva Longoria’s recent “derogatory remarks” about the industry during her appearance on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?”
“Eva Longoria: you just made derogatory remarks about daytime actors!” Braeden, 81, tweeted on Sunday. “You simply weren’t good enough to survive the pressures of this medium! You were very lucky to get on that ‘housewife’ show! You did one show in 8-12 days, with mediocre but salacious dialogue!”

Love at First Kiss (Eres Tú) is a romantic comedy directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa starring Álvaro Cervantes and Silvia Alonso.
Love at First Kiss is a romantic comedy with all the flaws and virtues of the genre and all its familiar, tender and charmingly repetitive stereotypes.
This time it has all the humor of literature and its jokes about writers with self-destructive tendencies who are somewhat alcoholic and that, back to the stereotypes, we find very funny.
May you enjoy it in all its predefined charm.
Movie Review Love at First Kiss
Charming, tender, romantic and funny, what is a romantic comedy with its virtues is very easy to see, and its flaws are forgotten as soon as it ends.
An entertaining joke-dispensing machine about couples and sentimental relationships that, coincidentally and due to the genre’s craft and humour, ends with that magic of giving hope to human beings who,...

March is a time for madness, whether it comes from basketball, Mercury retrograde, or a person’s home streaming habits. Netflix joins in on the chaos by updating its library with all three “Hangover” movies, a whole lot of workout content, “Magic Mike Xxl,” and much, much more.
On March 9, the streamer will premiere Part 2 of “You” Season 2, starring Penn Badgley, Charlotte Ritchie, and Ed Speleers. The five remaining episodes find Joe (Badgley) trapped in a volatile dance with London mayoral candidate and serial killer Rhys (Speleers), trying to prevent more murders but also not go down for the many he’s committed in the process. The trailer shows Joe and Kate (Ritchie) growing closer, more brushes with Kate’s wealthy socialite friends, and the return of Victoria Pedretti as Joe’s wife Love — or maybe the ghost of his wife, and of sins past.

Most Are You the One? viewers agree that season 9 has been tedious, repetitive, and overall not entertaining to watch. After waiting more than three years for a new season, fans are understandably disappointed with the current competition. But where exactly has Paramount+ gone wrong with Are You the One?
Will Gagnon and Courtney Rowe | Gerardo Valido/MTV Entertainment The ‘Are You the One?’ Season 9 challenges don’t give the cast a chance to build connections
First things first — the challenges in Are You the One? Season 9 are uninspired and terrible. Every competition in the show’s first six episodes has just revolved around matching contestants’ faces to something they have said. It’s boring to watch for the audience, but it also hurts the players because it doesn’t help build connections in the house.
In past seasons, the challenges often required the singles to pair up and compete together.

New Delhi, Feb 7 (Ians) Dating app Tinder on Tuesday rolled out several new features, including chat in Incognito Mode, Block Profile, Long Press Reporting and more.
Incognito Mode is a step up from fully hiding your profile. Members can still ‘Like’ and ‘Nope’ in the app, but only those whom they’ve Liked will see them in their recommendations.
The company also unveiled updates to ‘Does This Bother You?’ and ‘Are You Sure?’ features, giving its members especially in the 18-25 age group more control on how they interact with others.
“Every touchpoint in Tinder has been built with safety in mind, and we’ve heard from members that they aren’t always aware of what safety features currently exist, how to use them, or how to approach staying safe when they take a conversation off the app,” said Rory Kozoll, SVP of Product Integrity at Tinder.

Spanish director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, who swept the board at March’s Málaga Film Festival, has wrapped shooting on her sophomore feature, “Eres Tú,” a Netflix’ romantic comedy produced by Antonio Asensio and Paloma Molina at Zeta Studios – the Madrid-based company behind phenomenon “Elite.” Miriam Rodríguez executive produces.
After distributing Almodovar and signing up J.A. Bayona for real-life disaster drama “Society of the Snow,” Ruiz de Azúa’s attachment to “Eres tú” marks another association with a prestige director by Netflix in Spain.
Netflix Spain already accounts for three of the five most watched non-English Netflix movies ever: “The Platform,” “Below Zero” and “Through My Window.” It is, however, progressively diversifying its slate of series, movies, documentaries and TV shows by incorporating different creators profiles to create potential crowd-pleasers.
“Eres tú” follows Javier who, when 16 and kissing a girl for the first time, discovers that he had a gift of romantic clairvoyance.
