Two elements of the competition were changed this year:
- For the first time, episodes of the series were pre-recorded. The recording took place in March 2021.
- The studio audience replaced the home viewers in voting for their favourite couples and having their votes added to the judges' scores to determine the combined score that decided who was eliminated in each episode and the winner of the grand finale.
