This documentation of hypothetical disasters is a must. Not a give it a try for entertainment purposes. It's a serious warning about underestimated threats. While Billy Nye presents these scenarios engagingly and entertainingly, this does not diminish the seriousness of the dangers he explores.
Take just one example: the global blackout caused by a super solar flare. This threat is
realistic and frightenly dangerous, underlining the urgent need for humanity to take precautions now. If you've seen the film Leave the World Behind (2023), you'll have some idea of the problems that even a failed satellite system could cause. A complete global blackout and the destruction of all semiconductor technology would be catastrophic on an even larger scale. Imagine the destruction of all unprotected semiconductors on Earth and the consequences.
Such an event could throw the human race back into the Stone Age, causing a complete breakdown of all infrastructure and many of other problems. A societal collapse that would follow, with anarchy taking over. Calling the police would be impossible. In such a world, something as simple as a bottle of water could become a reason to kill.
Rebuilding our world to its current state could take centuries.
This documentary is not just a recommendation, it's essential viewing.
