Joel McHale has denied claims that he is going to star in 'Jurassic World Rebirth'. The 'Community' star, 52, was rumoured to have joined the upcoming blockbuster but insists that the stories about his casting in the movie are nothing but hearsay. When Collider asked the actor whether he was in 'Rebirth', he said: "If you know something that would be great. Because I don’t know anything. I know nothing! I don’t know; no one’s asked me." 'The Bear' actor – who has children Edward, 19, and Isaac, 16, with his wife Sarah Williams – joked his youngest son had teased him about the rumours when stories about McHale's casting began to circulate online. He laughed: "My 16-year-old was making fun of me. He was like, 'Hey Dad, I heard you’re gonna be in 'Jurassic World'. Boy, how wrong are they,...

Fifteen years ago, the single most streets-ahead sitcom in American television history made its NBC debut — if only the movie wasn’t still frustratingly streets behind.
Despite teetering on the edge of collapse and cancellation for most of its original run, Dan Harmon’s meta-comedy masterpiece Community still has one of the most reliable and enduring fanbases of any comedy series on the internet, even nine years after the last episode hit streaming. Ever since Abed first uttered the words “six seasons and a movie” in the Season Two episode “Paradigms of Human Memory” when talking about the then-recently cancelled and not-nearly-as-loved NBC action-drama The Cape, the resilient Community fandom has continued to hold out hope that their own series will actualize such a perfect send-off, and with the Peacock-produced Community movie set to start production any decade now, that dream has never felt more real.

The hit comedy sitcom, Community, first aired in 2009 and ran for six seasons until 2015. It left an indelible mark on the world of television. The show’s quirky humor, lovable misfits, and heartfelt moments helped create a loyal fan base that has been clamoring for more.
The call of #sixseasonsandamovie that started as an inside joke snowballed into a fan cry, demanding a follow-up movie. Though announced in 2022, several factors caused a delay in further updates of the movie and it all seemed bleak. Until recently Donal Glover spoke with Deadline, about the status of the movie. It seems like comedy fans might get their new magnum opus in the new Community movie.
The movie everyone waited for: Is the wait truly over?

It turns out “Suits: L.A.” had 12 million reasons to relocate from Vancouver, where it shot its pilot, to actual Los Angeles. Ok, 12,000,001 if you count the title.
On Tuesday, the California Film Commission revealed the 19 new projects it has awarded a total of $51.6 million in tax credits to as enticement to shoot in the Golden State. Only one was a TV series: “Suits: LA” has been granted about $12 million in tax incentives through the Soundstage Filming Tax Credit Program to move to Los Angeles.
The latest list includes three big-budget feature films and 15 independent films. Of note are the long-rumored (and now confirmed!) Janis Joplin biopic starring and produced by Shailene Woodley. That one got $2.5 million. Another $2.5 million will go to the Artists Equity film “Killing Gawker” — the one for which Ben Affleck is reportedly casting himself as Hulk Hogan. Affleck and Matt Damon founded the label in 2022. The “Community...

Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, the show About Nothing was loved by everyone and it made the careers of Jerry Seinfeld who played himself, Julia Louis-Dreyfus who played Elaine Benes, and Jason Alexander who played the universally loved George. The series mostly followed four people hanging out and going on weird and absurdly comedic adventures. Only a few sitcoms have left their mark on television, and one of those is Arrested Development. Ever since the show’s debut in 2003, it has gradually evolved into a cult classic. The razor-sharp wit, quirky characters, and weird shenanigans are all the elements that brought recognition to the show. The series only found its footing in the later years, although it received a lot of critical acclaim during its original run.

It's been nearly two years since Peacock got the Community fandom’s hopes up, greenlighting the long-awaited feature-length film sequel of the cult NBC sitcom. But, filming still hasn't started, and while the double Hollywood union strikes in 2023 may have been partly to blame, Community has only ever been cursed by turmoil.
Community creator Dan Harmon was ousted after Season Three due to his “erratic behavior” and “oddball leadership style,” only to be reinstated before Season Five. Then, Community was canceled by NBC due to poor ratings after the fifth season, and picked up by Yahoo! Screen for the sixth and final chapter. And, throughout all that turmoil, core cast members came and went — including Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown and John Oliver.

To lift a title from kids’ novelist Wilson Rawls, this has become the Summer of the Monkeys.
Before we get to HBO’s Chimp Crazy and Netflix’s Secret Lives of Orangutans, devotees of the simian arts will be treated to Apple TV+’s Bad Monkey, a Carl Hiaasen adaptation from the streamer’s comedy patron saint, Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Shrinking).
Contrary to the show and novel’s name, the eponymous monkey is not, in fact, bad. Played by veteran animal thespian Crystal — you know her from Community, The Fabelmans and more — she is, in fact, quite good, reliable for reactive cutaways or wild, furry hijinks. She (actually, Crystal is playing a character who seems to identify as male, but we are not going down the path of monkey pronouns here) doesn’t always feel particularly connected to the plot of Bad Monkey, but it’s charming and fun just to have her around.

A number of medals have already been handed out at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but the ultimate gold medal might have to go to Gojira for their sensational performance during the opening ceremony on Friday (July 26th). Drummer Mario Duplantier has now reflected on the global gig, calling it “a big step for the metal community.”
The French metal band absolutely wowed the world with their breathtaking performance from platforms extending outside the windows of the Conciergerie building, a former prison and courthouse that sits along the River Seine. The band performed an extreme metal version of the French Revolution-era song “Ah, Ça Ira!,” and were soon joined by opera singer Marina Viotti, who floated down the river in a wooden ship.

Short answer: No, Peacock does not offer a free trial currently. However, with plans starting at $7.99 per month it’s still one of the best bargains in streaming. Sign Up $7.99+ / month peacocktv.com
“Free is the right price,” or so the old cliche goes. Streaming free trials are a great way to get to know a platform’s library, but customers are likely pretty familiar with Peacock’s catalog already. The NBCUniversal streaming service is home to old favorites from primetime NBC like “The Office,” “Community,” “Scrubs,” and many more, as well as originals like “Five Nights at Freddy's” and “Those About to Die,” and Universal movies spanning the spectrum from “Monkey Man” to “Kung Fu Panda 4.”

As the situation comedy disappears from broadcast television, we might be losing more than simply 23 minutes of laughs surrounded by Progressive commercials. Over the past 50 years, the sitcom has been a surefire cannon from which to launch unknown comic actors onto the A-list.
Here are 7 sitcoms that turned anonymous comedians into the biggest stars in the world…
1 Mork & Mindy
Robin Williams was a 1970s club comic with a growing reputation as an improvisational genius. A guest turn on Happy Days — producer Garry Marshall’s kid was into Star Wars so Marshall ordered writers to invent a funny alien — launched a spin-off series that turned Williams into a star practically overnight. Also up for the Happy Days alien cameo? A young Richard Lewis.
2 Bosom Buddies
Want a idiotic premise for a sitcom? How about two guys who decide to pose as women so they can get a permanent room in an affordable women-only hotel.

Forget summer blockbusters. On July 1, ABC’s six-season hit series Lost became available for streaming on Netflix and the show’s availability on not one, but two major streaming services (the other being Hulu) has skyrocketed the story of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 back into the spotlight. From original fans of the series, which ran from 2004 to 2010, to new Dharma Initiative recruits, all eyes are on the lush island where characters like Jack, Kate, and Sawyer found themselves fighting to survive and keep their own dark secrets hidden.
Lost’s renaissance is sure to leave a new generation of viewers asking questions about the mythology of the island, the story of its strange inhabitants, and what the heck happened in the final episode. And, don’t even get us started on explaining the series’ epilogue, which new viewers won’t find on Netflix or Hulu. There’s also bound...

In the last couple decades, it's been as safe to assume that big-budget blockbusters arrive almost every week as it is to assume that many of the people directing those films aren't very big names. The days of directors like Steven Spielberg or Tony Scott or Michael Bay regularly directing blockbusters have mostly gone by the wayside. More often than not, studios have passed their big-deal intellectual property titles to filmmakers who aren't household names, perhaps hoping that they'll hew to the company line instead of injecting their own personal flair into the proceedings.
This week marks the arrival of one such film, the Universal Pictures/Warner Bros. Pictures film "Twisters," which serves as a long-awaited sequel (kind of) to the 1996 blockbuster "Twister." It also serves as the first film for director Lee Isaac Chung since his Oscar-winning 2020 indie family drama "Minari." Chung's past feature work doesn't suggest he'd...

Newhart, Bob Newhart’s second CBS sitcom, ran for eight seasons and 184 episodes from 1982-1990, neatly surpassing the run of his first CBS sitcom, The Bob Newhart Show, which ran from six seasons and 142 episodes from 1972-1978. But the second show always lived in the shadow of the first. The Bob Newhart Show was viewed as a key piece of a new Golden Age of TV comedy in the Seventies — a whipsmart ensemble sitcom perfectly tailored to the sane man in an insane world sensibility of its eponymous star, who...

Donald Glover has already deemed the opportunity to be a “Saturday Night Live” cast member a bullet he “dodged,” but now the multi-hyphenate creator is detailing just how much “SNL” impacted “30 Rock.”
The NBC sitcom was created by “SNL” alum Tina Fey and satirized working on a sketch series at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where “SNL” is filmed. But according to Glover, there were more parallels behind-the-scenes than just the meta mocking.
“Even though I had such a great time at ’30 Rock,’ one thing at ’30 Rock’ that I didn’t want as much of, because I feel like it was kind of a thing from ‘SNL,’ was fear,” Glover said during a recent appearance on “Hot Ones” from First We Feast. “Writers’ rooms are a scary place. I was like, ‘Yeah, I just didn’t want any fear in my room.'”

If Peak TV has flown the coop, nobody told Peacock.
Every major streaming service released less content during April-June 2024 than they did during the same period in 2023 except for Peacock, according to a HarrisX study performed for the media analysts at MoffettNathanson. The NBCUniversal streaming service released eight new, original seasons of TV in Q2 of 2024 — the same as it did in the second quarter last year.
Over the past three months, Netflix released 92 original seasons, down from 97 in the same period last year. Amazon released 34 seasons, down from 37; Hulu put out 14 seasons, down from 16; Max and Paramount+ both released 19 original seasons, down from 23 and 22, respectively.
The big decline came from Disney+, which put out 16 original seasons in Q2 2024, down from 30. You’re sleeping, beauties.
Anyway, the Peacock consistency seems to be working. The streamer enjoyed the quarter’s best penetration of U.S. households, growing 220 basis points to 21 percent.

Joe and Anthony Russo are assembling a team — once again.
The Russo Bros. are in early talks to return to Marvel Studios to direct not just one, but the next two Avengers movies, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The hiring ends a months-long, high-stakes search by the studio for filmmakers to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies. Multiple names were in contention, including Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, who was offered the gig. Sources say the talks are in the early stages.
The move also marks a homecoming for the Russos, who jumped from the world of TV comedy on shows like Arrested Development and Community to blockbuster movies a decade ago, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). In total, they directed four of Marvel’s biggest and best regarded movies, going on to helm Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Yes, I see that title and I immediately picture “ole’ blue eyes”, a trench coat draped over a shoulder, crooning that catchy 1954 Bart Howard classic. And that’s just what the producers want to evoke, to get you in a nostalgic mood for a frothy romance set against the backdrop of the “space race”. Mission accomplished, but could a “rom-com” really work against the somber historical backdrop we’ve seen in heavy, serious films like First Man, A Million Miles Away, Hidden Figures, Apollo 13, and the HBO miniseries, “From the Earth to the Moon”.Now, that’s the trick, much like the possible results facing NASA, Will it blast off or crash land? But it’s “star power” rather than rocket fuel that propels Fly Me To The Moon.

Every now and then we hear something about the long-gestating Community movie. Most of it is positive and shows some sort of progress in the development, but we’re still always left wondering if it will truly happen considering how long word has been circling the quad. Now, Jeff Winger himself, Joel McHale has a quasi-update…and a plea to stop harassing one particular member of the cast. No, not Chevy Chase – he’s fair game.
Speaking with GQ, Joel McHale asked Community fans to stop hassling Donald Glover over the status of the movie. This time around, he’s taking the blame for it having not started filming. “If it’s anybody’s fault, it’s my schedule on this one. It’s not his at all. He was available. No, no, no, no…I will say, and please print this. That was definitely not true. It was not Donald’s schedule.

Despite the fact that it was beloved by critics, adored by its fans and featured the greatest mustache in the history of television, Parks and Recreation was in constant jeopardy of being taken off of the air.
NBC treated the show so shabbily that during the sixth season, it was put on hiatus for months, and replaced with episodes of The Voice, an SNL clip show and a live version of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood. As Vulture noted at the time, this was likely because NBC wanted to boost viewership of Sean Saves the World, a Sean Hayes-led sitcom that lasted for just 13 episodes and is remembered by precisely no one.
Well, it turns out that Parks and Rec was even more endangered than many of us thought.

However, not all celebrity cameos are memorable in a good way. Some end up being so bad that they haunt viewers for years. Here are 8 shows that would be better off without celebrity guests than the ones they brought in.

Ever since its release, this remake of the beloved original title has been under intense pressure as players and critics were quick to consider it a flop. However, the recent announcement about the best-selling games in the first half of 2024 (Japan only) cleared all the doubts about a few games.

His daughter Maggie announced his death on Instagram, writing “I am heartbroken to share that my father passed away at home on June 27th, after a valiant fight against a long illness. He was known for excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find that joke funny. He was never not funny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and—the sign of a truly exceptional person—by many, many dogs. I loved him tremendously.”
