There really is a NASA spacecraft (Voyager One) that was sent out into space with a Golden Record filled with Earth's music, with the hope to one day reach intelligent life from another planet. The Voyager 1, as well as its twin, the Voyager 2, are still viable and sending back communications to NASA. They are in interstellar space now, beyond this galaxy.
