I'm not a Wagner enthusiast; most of his operas have no interest for me. This production is well sung and has sets and costumes appropriate for the story, unlike the awful Kaufmann-Harteros production that was set in some kind of concentration camp (?). Netrebko and Beczala play well together, and I'll forget about the overuse of oafish knights on stage. Evelyn Herlitzius gives us a chilling rendition of Ortrud, one of opera's really evil women.
