The film participated in the Festival of East European Cinema in Cottbus, Germany, from November 10-14 2009, in the "Cinema from the Black Sea Region" category. From October 19-26 2009, The Goat participated in the Week of Bulgarian Cinema in Moscow, Veliky Novgorod and St. Petersburg.
The film took part in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival in Minnesota, USA, from April 15-30, 2010. It received an average viewer rating of 4.36 out of 5 and ranked eighth out of the 94 films shown.
Received four nominations by the Bulgarian Film Academy - for best film, best director - Georgi Djulgerov, best leading actress - Angela Rodel, and best cinematography - Radoslav Spassov.
