5000 Space Aliens secured all its financing by way of a crowdfunding campaign conducted back in 2020, while the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing. Producer Lucas A. Ferrara has noted, in several media interviews, that he first encountered Scott Bateman, the animator of this feature length film, in August 2020, via Kickstarter, and "that was the start of a beautiful, movie-making relationship."
