Madam Chief Minister review :
After releasing to a tepid response early this year, Madam Chief Minister premiered online on Netflix this week and is presently its top trending film. To be frank, I watched it with zero expectation but the movie pleasantly sprung a surprise and turned out to be a watchable fare.
Supposedly an unofficial biopic of Ex Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati though the film refrains from saying so, the film chronicles the meteoric rise of a Dalit commoner named Tara (Richa Chadda) who inadvertently gets in to politics and rises the ranks to become the first chief minister of the most populous state of India. How she tackles her opposition from other party as well as her own forms the crux of the just over two hours drama.
To be fair, Subhash Kapoor's story is much better than his execution and the film could've been far better if the director had avoided showing the usual caste clichès and brahmin bias. The technical aspects are also of low standard. Undoubtedly, Madam Chief Minister had solid potential on paper which hasn't fully translated on the screen.
Of the cast, Saurabh Shukla is assuredly effective. Manav Kaul doesn't get much scope but still leaves a mark. Akshay Oberoi is okey dokey in a negative role. So are the other supporting members.
The real show stealer is Richa Chadda who pitches in a fantastic performance as Tara. Madam Chief Minister is one more feather in her cap and she truly elevates the otherwise average fare to a cut above the commonplace. Kudos Lady!!

Richa Chadha's impressive performance is let down by the mediocre script.
The movie lacks impactful dialogues and compelling plot.

Richa Chadha plays a Dalit poltician from Uttar Pradesh in Subhash Kapoor's latest releae Madam Chief Minister. Subhash Kapoor is known for his kind of cinema and I have loved almost all his directorial works so far but that can't be said regarding Madam Chief Minister.
The movie tries very hard to establish a social point and manages somewhat to do so but fails most of the time. Despite of the fact lead actors tried their best to lift the movie up but its weak writing and weak direction that let down the whole movie.
Richa Chadha Manav Kaul and Saurabh Shukla are extremely good in their parts. Richa Chadha has given a really committed performance but the biggest letdown was the script.

It's funny How Richa Chadha wants to be the next Tapsee Pannu...propaganda driven movies don't work well in India...Portraying Mayawati without a GUCCI bag is a sin my dear...you show broom just to portray Dalits as inferiors while our PRESIDENT is a Dalit...dear Bollywood kindly stop this and make better movies about upliftment of poor section of our society.

We all know they are just frustrated singhi trolls... 2 rs people! They probably haven't seen this film at all. The movie is a good one time watch. Richa has done a sincere job. Though she really doesn't seem like the personality the character is inspired from, but apart from that it's a good watch.
A better script could have given a better result.

This movie exploits the same old plot which is irrelevant now. Hope some better and contemporary movies are made

Why such low rating on IMDb ?.... It's a quite reasonable movie with a strong message to the present scenario of Indian politics. But the ending was really not up to the mark. We should encourage such movies with positive reviews n ratings. Stop underestimate the power of feminism.

Very disappointing. Not worth the time at all. Perhaps a tighter script and a better actress could have done justice to the title.
Highly dramatic and nothing seems realistic. Also very poor dialogue delivery.

Not a good movie to watch for especially it is a dumb movie the acting is not good and the movie fails to impress subhash kapoor has not given good direction.
I understand the hatred and 1 stars. Its due the lack of depth and weak script. However it definitely entertaining and one time watch.
I feel Subhash Kapoor is over rated, he has done only couple of great work (LLB...). So dont keep hopes, dont apply logic, dont expect there is sense in this scene... example, in this movie becoming a CM, talking to CM, playing with ministers/MLAs. Are like piece of cake, just watch as entertainment, give it try, its worth it.

I'm not sure why this movie has so many negative ratings, it's nothing special (and it could have been) but the acting and the story are good and Richa Chadha was very watchable albeit in a slightly different role than we're used to seeing her in - we almost didn't watch the movie due to the low rating here but in our books this movie was definitely a one time watch.

The - is that
There is no proper story in this movie, door direction, only screenplay written was decent.
The + is that It shows you the deep reality of Indian politics and how it's an inner war itself within the country.

As far as movie concerns...a well made movie with many real incidents of uttar Pradesh politics..cult movie..some people's who are believe in caste system..never digest this brilliant movie..
Overall...nice acting by 2 actors specially has mentioned..Richa nd saurabh sir ...

Its a good movie. But not ten star level nor one star. India is world largest secular country. But still cast problem is not resolved. If there is god he should be for all and everyone should got access to gods house ( Temple). Some people don't accept lower cast peoples in temple. Some people don't like that dark side of politics should come to front. All these reason some rating come very poor. Richa Chadda done well.

I don't know how Subhashji can make such a poor film
Very poor storyline god knows which minister they were portraying ..No strong chief ministers scenes ,very low performance by all members the actors
Besides doing chief ministers work she is doing all other useless activities and she looked pathetic
It's not chief it's cheap

The movie seems to have been based on the life and style of Behanji. Even though the movie and the acting had lots of glitches but it was quite watchable and gripping. Storyline was weak. Richa Chaddha portrayed the character typical of how it works in UP. All in all a one time watch.

Becoming CM is like a piece of cake.. Just enter a party and you are elected as CM of state.. Worst movie of the year, no doubt.
