It is July. For me this means gearing up for my annual marathon movie event, the Asian Film Festival of Dallas. The organizers have been tossing hints at titles out via facebook and Twitter, but yesterday they finally let the cats out of the bag. 

This year Affd is screening 30+ features as well as their usual shorts programs. I'm pretty sure this may be their biggest festival ever in terms of variety. The schedule looks great, with some really awesome titles and some surprises (which are almost always my favorite part!). Affd has a newly redesigned website that makes it easy to explore the titles, watch trailers, make your own schedule, and learn about the events. Facebook friends and Twitter followers are always the first to know about cool events and news, so be sure to check them out there as well as the official site for all the latest!

Nevada (Us), Feb 22 – Twelve Indian or India related films will form part of ‘28th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival’ (Sfiaaff) to be held from March 11 to 21.

It will include: Today’s Special (David Kaplan), Love Aaj Kal (Imtiaz Ali), Cooking With Stella (Dilip Mehta), Diana (Aleem Khan), Scene 32 (Shambhavi Kaul), Talentime (Yasmin Ahmad), and Flying (Kirthi Nath). In addition, following Indian or India related shorts will participate: Narmeen (Dipti Gogna), Clap Clap (Tanuj Chopra),.

Kuala Lumpur, The song "O re piya" from Madhuri Dixit starrer "Aaja Nachle" features prominently in Malaysian filmmaker Yasmin Ahmad's latest film "Talentime". "O re piya" was rendered by renowned Pakistani classical singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.Starring Mahesh Jugal Kishore, Mohammed Syafie Naswip, Pamela Chong, Azean Irdawaty and Jaclyn Victor, the film's theme too is similar to "Aaja Nachle". "It's about family and a talent competition in a rundown school. Syafie plays a teenager whose mother (Irdawaty) has a brain tumour. It moves in tandem with Mahesh's story. Mahesh's sister is played by Jac. And then there's Chong's interracial family," Ahmad was quoted as saying by New Straits Times Thursday.The film, which is set for March 26 ...
