Well, in comparison to the 2017 animated movie "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie ", then this 2020 movie "Captain Underpants: Mega Blissmas" wasn't just delivering.
I sat down to watch "Captain Underpants: Mega Blissmas" with my son, as he wanted to watch it. Granted, I didn't have much of any expectations to this 2020 animated movie, as it falls short of what I usually spend my time on watching. But still, I sat down to watch it with my son.
The storyline told in "Captain Underpants: Mega Blissmas" just seemed erratic and random, as if there wasn't a proper red line throughout the course of the entire storyline. This made for a less then mediocre movie experience as we sat through this 45 minute animated movie.
The animation style in "Captain Underpants: Mega Blissmas" was adequate, though the made use of a lot of different styles throughout the course of the movie, some with more success than others I might say.
Granted, I don't really know the characters, nor the universe in which this takes place, so perhaps a lot of things were lost on me. And perhaps I would have found more enjoyment in "Captain Underpants: Mega Blissmas" if I was fully into the characters and the universe.
My rating of this 2020 animated movie lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars. This is hardly an animated movie that I will be returning to watch a second time, nor is it a particular noteworthy addition to the Christmas classics.
