I kept waiting for anything interesting or clever. It just felt like it was created by a group of high school kids. Plot lines were loaded with stereotypes and odd decisions. Dialog seemed forced... like they were in a hurry to get this monstrosity done as quickly as possible.
Now I have to fill a review with minimum characters to describe something that makes me angry for wasting the time? How about this... Don't watch this bad movie. It's was bad bad baddity bad. Full of badness. I could not unsee the bad which was thrust upon me. If bad were a marshmallow, this would be the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the first Ghostbusters movie. I didn't like it.
I gave it two stars because at least it provided some jobs for the actors and crew.

I watch plenty of bad movies, but by far, this is the worst I have ever seen. I am going to note the name of everyone connected with this "film" and make sure to NEVER watch any of their work again.
I feel bad for everyone that comes here and reads this review, because it means you probably experienced the disappointment that I just did.
There is nothing redeeming about this movie. Whatever they spent to make it, they should have just taken that cash into the street and burned it. The world would have been a better place.
Given their gross negligence and failure, the people involved with this production should be banned for life from the entertainment industry.
May God have mercy on their souls.

Rift was an utter catastrophe of cinematic proportions. The abysmal acting, disjointed script, and unraveling storyline left me in a state of bewilderment and frustration. Other reviewers suggest this was a pandemic-era production, but that's no excuse for the shambles that unfolded on screen. Nikolai's performance was the lone beacon of mediocrity in a sea of acting incompetence.
As the movie progressed, my confusion deepened. It became increasingly apparent that this project was a haphazard rush job, devoid of coherence or vision. The decision to release such a flawed piece of work is utterly perplexing. Why not delay its release by a year or two to address its glaring shortcomings and give it the attention it sorely needed?
Furthermore, the sight of FBI agents nonchalantly navigating in Mercedes G wagons was a jarring and nonsensical choice that only added to the absurdity of the film. It's moments like these that make you question the sanity of those behind the camera.
In conclusion, Rift is a tumultuous mess that should be avoided at all costs. Save yourself the torment.

This has to be the worst film I've seen since "The Room" and even that was more entertaining. The main characters did not have an ounce of chemistry between each other or the other actors and actresses for that matter..
The acting was bad, wooden, not believable, the storyline was weak and predictable, lacking any imagination or creativity. This must have been "a made for tv daytime movie", for a rainy day in the afternoon as a filler, as a last resort. So low budget that the cheques probably bounced.
The only positive was that it lasted about 1hr 10 minutes as to not prolong the agony too much.
Do not waste your time on this terrible production.

For a film shot and released during the height of COVID I can understand the time restraints and casting.
It's a popcorn film if you got a hr and some change to spare give it a watch. It's not an academy award winning but at least there was effort placed on production & lighting (the restaurant scene was dope ).
Nice to see some newcomers get a shot and cool to see a film not steeped in urban galore and gratuitous violence and sex.
Maybe with a bit more budget, no PANDEMIC, & some bigger names, Rift could have carried a little more weight.
I guess a lot of the reviewers haven't seen a tubi original.

The movie itself is okay. Obviously low budget. I'm puzzled about one thing though. Anyone who ever watched The Weather Channel when Vivian Brown was an on-air meteorologist would know her instantly. Such is the case with this movie. Every movie website I've looked at lists an actress named Stephanie Casebier as the actress portraying news anchor Mary Jacobs. No, it isn't. I looked up the actress, Stephanie Casebier, and she's looks nothing like the actress portraying that character. Stephanie Casebier is a Caucasian actress. The actress portraying news anchor Mary Jacobs is African American meteorologist Vivian Brown. I watched her for 29 years on The Weather Channel. I certainly know her when I see her.
