This episode's title is a reference to the political slogan "the silent majority," popularized by President Richard Nixon in 1969. The phrase referred to middle class voters whom Nixon claimed supported his policies, but didn't seek or get much attention from the press.

Apathy And Student Government

Pete talks to the class about the importance of registering to vote in the next student body president election.

A very good Season 2 episode. Class clown Harvey Butcher is back and he decides to run as a joke. The more qualified candidate David Kane is shocked when the kids all rally around Harvey. David is played by Andrew Parks, who played many roles in 1970s TV, memorable as a psycho on an episode of "Barnaby Jones".
