Must have been tapped before pandemic. I just hope this don't get canceled or any thing a lot of great actors easy to follow it ain't all over the place just realistic acting love the show
It's something about these "low budget" hood cinema entries that I am so drawn to. You can almost say that I am a "hood cinema" savant, as I have been a fan since the late 🤔, early 90s with films like "Straight Outta Brooklyn" or "Strapped". It's something about the bringing that idea to life and seeing if it'll work. 90% of the time it doesn't work but at least you tried. First what a lot of "reviewers" need to realize is that there's a difference between compelling entertainment and just being entertained. As far as the category goes McGraw is one of the best, it's simple hood entertainment, the plot was understandable and straight forward, especially if you understand that world(you don't have to come from it to understand or rock with it,like rap music). I initially discovered "The Detroit cinema" content with the film 2Eleven, then Plug Love, onto Five-0 to Buffed Up etc( I believe these are by the same people/person Derek Scott), growing up as a fan of crime dramas like the Wire, the Corner, up to the Power universe, it's like a lower budget version of those shows and that's pretty cool. Also being from the Midwest (GI stand up) Chicago and Detroit are like cousins to Gary so I may hold a slight bias lol, but contrary to that statement the majority of these films and shows are not good at all in any way. McGraw is the exception!!
Only reason im not giving it a 10 is because of the low budget aspect but outside of that this is a great and well put together show! Hopefully? Like Top Boy? Someone see's the potential and invests into this show for better production and shops it to a larger market! If you like top boy,the wire,or power? This is worth the watch. The character development could use more attention but the storyline and realism of the show is pretty authentic and believable, and it's a really good depiction of how it really is in the slums of detroit! Murda Pain is also a very believable actor and fits into the lead role perfectly.

Depicting the raw and hard reality of life in Detroit is a compelling story line. With a lot of potential. Sadly, it falls flat and feels like every other life in the hood series and movie.
Yea, screwing around, drugs, neck chains, money, guns,...ya know dog, I got your ass, we good. Blah
Aside from the low budget production quality, poor acting, and terrible directing, the script is nothing new or engaging.
Why so many rate this so high explains a lot about the targeted audience.

If u haven't tuned in and started watching you are seriously missing out. I love the realistic grittiness of the series. Super exited and anxious for a second season.
This show is unintentionally funny on a regular basis, but also walks a line where it's quality of writing, acting, camera and lighting work, soundtrack etc are often pretty well done relative to the resources available to the crew. If you expect it to be immaculate you won't have fun, but if you can take it with a grain of salt this show is incredibly entertaining.
If you like rap music and/or are from the detroit metro area, you might hear a lot of familiar songs being featured as well. I especially like vezzo and 42 dugg, although they don't make actual appearances in the show.
Having enjoyed series like snowfall on FX, i found mcgraw ave to be a lower budget version of some of the same concepts and aesthetics. If you are able to tolerate the small doses of corny/cheesy content on snowfall, you will love mcgraw ave.

Powerful, Captivating, gripping and first rate are a few adjectives that are evoked when viewing this material. This film series will be thoroughly consumed and enjoyed by any sensible and logical person of all walks of life regardless of ethnicity or race. If you appreciate thought
provoking substantiative films above films that merely excite you or are stylishly made. The you will instantly become obsessed with this film series. Truly it is one of the greatest film series ever made if not the greatest ever comprised. If you enjoy real over fake, you Will thoroughly enjoy this. This film touches on themes that most people can relate to. And theirin lies the beauty of it. My only regrets about this film series is that it is too short.

... this would be just another garbage ghetto gangsta flick. I grew up in Detroit before McGraw became notorious when it was actually Murder City when the Sconis, FAs, BKs, Flynns, and YBI ruled the streets despite what the intro says it is now. Detroit hasn't been the U. S. murder capital for years (see Memphis, New Orleans, and St. Louis) even though it's still as dangerous in spots as ever. But the series has me hooked because the acting and scenarios are simply incredible and as real as I remember back in the day. I'm looking forward to season 3 to see "whatupdoh" and Murda is the type of bruhtha who you'd love to be on your team but would hate and fear if he's against you. Know him well (smile). Brings back real memories for me. Some bad, some sad, some glad to make it through it all.

Detroits best show ever!! I can't wait until the next season! Much love to Tonya Brown. I love the story, the realistic content and all the local views. I will support these guys forever!
Murda you doing your thang my brother. I watch part 2 also and waiting on part 3. I love what y'all doing for the culture. Im doing the same thing for my city down south Louisiana. I love how y'all tell the true stories of the streets and what come with it. Salute and keep working . Love your body of work. You guys inspire us filmmakers to keep chasing that passion and creating films. Everyone involved did an amazing job. I was mad on some parts but that's only because the actor did what they was supposed to do which cause confusion with the viewers. McGraw Ave is a definite hit and it shows the real gritty and life of streets and the possibilities of getting caught in a situation where you have to make a calculated choice.
Whoever hating on this masterpiece is CRAZY!! The storyline and acting is really dope...... Keep it coming please bring Season 3........ I would love to see what's going to happen next..... So many things going on it's so exciting... this reminds me of the old hood movies like boys in the hood and new jack city. It's raw like that... it's definitely going to be a classic big they keep going I would love to buy the whole set if I had too lol!!! But nah forreals you guys are doing an excellent job keep it coming and make more of these different type of series.. they making me type a lot of words I ran out lol.
