The BBC has U-turned from its original position on MasterChef by pulling Christmas episodes following the Gregg Wallace allegations.
The corporation had initially said that all filmed eps would still air, despite the fact that Wallace has stepped away from the show as producer Banijay UK investigates allegations of inappropriate behavior. Today, it has told BBC News that the Christmas eps will not air.
This comes after more than a dozen women accused Wallace of inappropriate behaviour and sexually inappropriate comments, including ex-Newsnight host Kirsty Wark.
Following that BBC News investigation last week, the BBC’s initial position was that it would continue to roll cameras, satisfying concerns from the likes of broadcasting union Bectu that pausing the show would lead to a loss of work for freelancers in a difficult market.

The BBC is pushing on with MasterChef production despite the ream of Gregg Wallace allegations that emerged yesterday, as a conversation is kickstarted around “open secrets” in TV.
Wallace, a fixture on BBC TV screens for decades, has stepped away from presenting MasterChef after producer Banijay UK, which owns MasterChef maker Shine, launched an external review into his behavior.
The BBC published an initial report of 13 people saying Wallace had made inappropriate sexual comments – with former Newsnight host Kirsty Wark coming on the record to say he told “sexualised jokes” during filming on at least two occasions – and since then more people have come forward.
Last night, Rod Stewart took to Instagram accusing Wallace of “humiliating” his wife Penny Lancaster when she was on MasterChef. Others told the BBC Wallace down the years talked openly about his sex life, took his top off in front of a female worker and...

Gregg Wallace, co-host of the wildly popular BBC show MasterChef, has been asked to step down from the role while allegations of historical misconduct are investigated.
Production company Banijay U.K. said the 60-year-old is co-operating with the internal investigation after BBC News reported accusations that Wallace made inappropriate sexual comments to co-workers over a 17-year period came from 13 different people.
One of those includes broadcaster Kirsty Wark, a U.K. Celebrity MasterChef contestant in 2011. She said that on two occasions, the presenter made jokes of a “sexualized nature” in front of cast and crew.
Wallace’s lawyers have said the accusations that he behaves in this nature are entirely false. His rep did not immediately respond to comment from The Hollywood Reporter.
The TV host is a household name in Britain having appeared alongside fellow presenter John Torode in MasterChef, Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals on BBC One and BBC Two.

The first challenge, an Invention Test with a twist, puts the chefs’ creativity and resourcefulness to the test. In Benelux, where Banijay just bowed the new label SimpleZodiak, a merger of Simple Media and Zodiac Nederland, the company is developing a packed slate of shows under the new leadership of Peter Lubbers, who was tapped as CEO of Banijay Benelux, the new umbrella spanning the region and its production activities stemming from nine labels.
The Benelux slate includes the gameshow “The Road to a Million”; immersive reality show “Next E-Talent,” produced for the streaming service Videoland; “Doodstil,” a drama mini-series that’s a spin-off of the hit Dutch thriller “Penoza: The Final Chapter”; web series “Hunted VIP’s”; and the documentary series “Human Playground,” about sport, culture and tradition.

The BBC and production company Shine were forced to edit out a contestant on an episode of MasterChef: The Professionals due to what a spokeswoman described as “unforeseen circumstances.”
Season 13, episode seven of BBC One’s cookery show was preceded by the message: “This program has been edited and features 3 of the original 4 contestants who took part.”
The notice sparked speculation online about why the chef was removed from the show, but a spokeswoman said it was related to a private matter. Deadline understands that the issue was health-related.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances concerning one of our contestants, the programme was edited to remove their appearance,” the spokeswoman said. She declined to comment further.
Deadline revealed back in July that the MasterChef franchise was back in production for the BBC in the UK following the coronavirus production shut down. Filming took place at 3 Mills Studios.

Exclusive: Fox’s food competition format MasterChef was forced to shut down in March having filmed half of its 11th season.
The show, which is produced by Endemol Shine North America and One Potato Two Potato, is now eyeing an October return to filming.
Deadline understands that the current plan is for production to pick back up around mid-to-late October. This would hopefully allow star and executive producer Gordon Ramsay, one of the judges, to return to LA from his home in the UK. As to be expected with all shows, this schedule remains flexible depending on the impact of the virus over the next few months.
The show, which will feature 18 episodes, will be produced with health and safety protocols front and center. Crew will wear PPE equipment and there will be the, now standard, Covid-19 testing and social distancing.

Exclusive: MasterChef is officially back in production in the UK after Shine got cameras rolling on spin-off show MasterChef: The Professionals last week.
Filming is underway on Season 13 of the professionals’ franchise at 3 Mills Studios in London, with Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace resuming their hosting and judging duties — albeit with a socially distanced twist.
MasterChef: The Professionals is the first of the UK MasterChef brands to go into production in the pandemic era. Celebrity MasterChef is currently broadcasting on BBC One but wrapped just before lockdown in March.
3 Mills Studios has been MasterChef’s home in the UK for a number of years and it is understood that the large studio space used to house the show has been an advantage in getting production underway.
A MasterChef spokeswoman said: “We are ensuring that all Covid-19 filming protocols are being adhered to as set out in industry-wide filming guidelines published last week.

Presenters Gregg Wallace and John Torode get a military singsong going in the 'food bootcamp' clip.
The new series of the BBC One cooking contest will premiere later this year.
