First 'Gilmore Girls' and now 'Friends' will be streaming on Netflix.
First Gilmore Girls and now Friends will be streaming on Netflix. Who needs actual friends when there's so much binge watching to be had?!
Video: Is the Cast of Friends Still Friends?
Netflix broke the news via Twitter Wednesday that the beloved NBC sitcom would be available for streaming come Jan. 1, 2015. Happy New Year, indeed!
The tweet included a video of The Rembrandts singing an acoustic version of their now iconic Friends theme song, "I'll be There For You," on location at New York City's Central Perk Pop Up on Oct. 6. Olivia Palermo and her longtime partner, model Johannes Huebl, tied the knot in Bedford, NY, on Saturday. Olivia was her usual stylish self in a white Carolina Herrera ensemble and blue Manolo Blahnik heels for the civil ceremony, while her new husband wore a matching suit by Marc Anthony Hamburg. Olivia announced the happy news on her style blog, saying, "We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends. Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside." Johannes popped the question after six years of dating during a January vacation in St. Barts. Shortly after their engagement, the pair showed sweet Pda on the beach together, and Olivia shared her excitement via social media, saying, "Happy New Year to my fiancé! #cloud9 #dreaming #endlesslove." South Korean filmmaker, Joon-ho Bong, has never been afraid of mixing genres. In his latest and most challenging film to date, Snowpiercer, Bong mixes action, sci-fi and satire to create a delightfully twisted prison break story. Snowpiercer owes much of its effectiveness to an ingenious script that uses 3 discrete acts to effortlessly shift its tone and genre. The first act establishes the prison; delineating the rules, hierarchy and surreal conditions. The second act takes us through the prison; peeling away each layer of corruption with frenzied action and violence. Finally, the third act deconstructs the prison; exposing the true face of tyranny and the rationale behind it. It’s an audacious script that warrants deeper consideration.
The key to any good prison break movie is establishing the prison as its own character. Whether it’s the evil warden’s twisted idea of justice or the intricate kingdoms built by the inmates,...

The Warner Animation series of direct-to-disc features has apparently said farewell to the past as this week’s release of Justice League: War and May’s Son of Batman are both from the New 52 era. A pity given how many cool stories remain unadapted. Readers who picked up Justice League #1 in August 2011 were treated to a brand new take on the tried and true characters from DC Comics, but it was clearly early in their collective careers. It was the first time many were meeting one another and dealing with the threat of Darkseid from Apokolips.
A fresh start but far from a clean one but discussions of that title and the entire New 52 belong elsewhere. Right now, we’re examining the latest feature from director Jay Oliva to see how well it stands up on its own. He’s working from a script by Heath Corson, making his DC...

Editor's note: As 2014 begins, I've been reposting some of our 2013 highlights. Those who've already read each one can obviously skip them, or revisit if you'd like. For those who joined us later in the year, missing many of these posts from earlier in the year, they will probably be new items. Here's a piece originally published in July that's caused quite a stir, and is still drawing the occasional comment today. Happy New Year to you all! To get to the short explanation of this loaded assertion I have to narrowly define what I mean by “Black” movies. Black movies are those films with a majority Black cast that situate Whites, if any, in peripheral or non-influential...

For those who joined us later in the year, missing many of these posts from earlier in the year, they will probably be new items. Here's a piece originally published in September ahead of the release of 12 Years A Slave. With today's Oscar nominations announcement, I thought it was worthy of a repost. Happy New Year to you all! Happy New Year to you all! The success and signature appeal of Spike Lee's early films have Ernest Dickerson's cinematography to thank as much as Spike's own cinematic flourishes. I saw a recent tweet from a fellow Dp. It went something along the lines of “Filming in NYC. That's a lot of brick”. I understood the frustration. SimCity didn't have the best of launches, and despite a few patches and updates, many game critics still feel the title has fallen short of it's potential. Various reasons are listed for this, but one of the primary complaints gamers have had, deal with it's always online connection and inability to play unless connected. Well, Maxis is seeking to correct that problem and announced that an offline single-player mode is coming for the game. Come inside for the details!
Well this is kind of a surprise. After months of hearing from Maxis (the game's developer) that it was "literally impossible" to make the game offline due to conflicts with coding and the cloud server, the company has backtracked and announced an offline version of the game is coming. The announcement came via a blog post from Maxis' General manager Patrick Buechner who started by saying this:

2013 has undoubtedly been an eventful year with a plethora of movies, brilliant performances, songs and so much more! We all had our bets on some of the biggest successes of the year, but there were quite a few releases that didn’t exactly have a very appealing trailer, electrifying buzz pre-release or glamorous promotional activities but managed to stand out and surprise us with their level of entertainment and substance. We have short listed 10 such movies here and thereby have the Top 10 surprise packages of 2013. Read on!
10. Chashme Baddoor:
Remakes are not everyone’s cup of tea, and we have seen some terrible remakes recently. Chashme Baddoor at some level can be an exception though. The film is slightly unique in the comedy genre with a certain amount of originality in it, making it an entertainer by one of the legends of comedy in Indian cinema, Mr. David Dhawan.

It's that time of year again. Time to start fresh and make a "new you." Maybe you vow to hit the gym more, or keep your dorm room clean, or watch more horror this year. To celebrate the time of the year when people refocus their lives and attempt to change themselves we've put together a list of our favorite horror movie good guys gone bad. These characters embraced change… and ended up becoming horrible monsters or raving lunatics. These aren't characters who spent the whole movie scheming behind the protagonists backs; these are characters who undergo a deep and often sudden change, who are drastically different at the end of the film. They may not have resolved to lose weight or do their taxes early, but these horror turncoats have made a resolution... to kill their friends and loved ones!

Madonna has found herself a new boyfriend in 26-year-old Timor Steffens – a dancer from the Netherlands – a month after splitting from Brahim Zaibat.

Madonna, 55, spent New Year’s in Switzerland, and attended Valentino Garavani’s private party in Gstaad, where she spent some quality time with Steffens, according to Radar Online.

“I mean, he’s basically a replacement for her ex. He looks just like Brahim,” the source continued, adding, “Madonna didn’t give a f--k that people were whispering! She was really showing him off, drinking and dancing with him all over the place.

Okay, it’s time to sick Gary Busey on some people. Yesterday, I reported on a few items from a recent mailbag on Batman-On-Film. In the report, I made it clear that none of this was to be taken as fact. I even included the author’s own disclaimer at the top of the mailbag. Then, when it got down to this item regarding Wonder Woman’s origin in Batman vs Superman I specifically prefaced it with “He also speculates that she, and the island of Amazons from which she comes, will be descendants of the Kryptonians that landed on earth centuries ago to survey the planet.”
But then what happened? Everyone and their mother Lost Their Minds. There was a mass deletion in people’s brains of what the definition of “speculation” is, and people started reporting on it and discussing it as if they’d just heard Zack Snyder say it himself.

Editor's note: As 2013 ends, and 2014 begins, I'll be reposting some of our highlights published during the last year. Those who've already read each one can obviously skip them, or revisit if you'd like. For those who joined us later in the year, missing many of these posts from earlier in the year, they will probably be new items. Here's the 18th of many to come, originally posted in late mid-April 2013. Happy New Year to you all! Tell me what’s wrong with this sentence: Anthony Mackie is currently, and consistently, one of the best supporting actors around. Answer: the word “supporting.” In anticipation of next week’s wide-release, “Pain & Gain,” (which I’m really hoping is...

I was reminded of it earlier today, while...

Time for "The Bachelor," you guys! Happy New Year to us, right?
Juan Pablo's opening montage lasts approximately five seconds before he's shirtless, but at least he's not soaping up in the shower like Sean Lowe. Remember that? It was weird.
There's some pretty sexy footage of Jp playing soccer, which he did professionally for seven years. But it all gets cuter when there's footage of him goofing around with his daughter Camila, who is named Camila Valentina because she was born on Valentine's Day. She's so cute you could eat her right up.
Plus, Camila and Juan Pablo's parents are going to live in Los Angeles with him while the first few weeks of the "Bachelor" tape, which is terrific. He keeps calling her "my chiquituri," and are they the most adorable parent/child pair to appear on this show? Very possibly.

Batman-On-Film's source 'Dr.Detroit' gave them this small information regarding a chase scene to be filmed in the summer. "Happy New Year! I have a minor update regarding location shooting BvS. I was told that location shooting of vehicle chase scenes (read: Batmobile scenes) will not take place until the Summer. I am under the impression that other location shooting, including exteriors -- in addition to studio shooting -- could begin as soon as next month, but that has not been confirmed. I'll continue to keep my ears to the ground." Production on the sequel is expecting to start next month and we should be getting some set photos and maybe a look at the new Bat-suit. What do you guys think? Just leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

This week, Porsha purchased a house she probably can’t afford, NeNe and Phaedra yelled platitudes at some children, and Cynthia’s sister gave her the world’s worst surprise this side of herpes. Happy New Year! Kenya put on shoes made out of curtain tassels to meet with Lawrence and further prove that her only valuable contribution to the show is to explain what is happening with every other cast member. Kenya is basically a walking voiceover. She pronounced Savannah Sah-vah-naaaah, talked smack about literally every other cast member, and revealed that she sleeps on a silk pillowcase like she was royalty and not, in fact, like all the rest of us black women going down to Sally’s Beauty Supply so our shit will stay tight for a few more days. She also said Preach! a lot when Lawrence was helping her talk smack about Phaedra. That’s it.

Well, 2014 is six days old, and though I’m not too maudlin about it, I’m glad 2013 is over. It wasn’t my worst year ever – that was pretty much 2006, though 2009 does come close, for reasons that I’m not going into here because some things do have to stay off this page – but 2013 was the year I lost my father. No, he isn’t dead, but he is gone for good, and this is how I know.
We (Glenn, Alix, Jeff, and Meyer Manuel) were visiting my parents on New Year’s Day. I had brought my father up to an apartment from the nursing home division; my parents live in a continuous care adult community. We were having either a late lunch or an early dinner, and one thing about my dad, he hasn’t lost his appetite. He eats everything put in front of him, even eggs,...

Happy New Year! It was certainly happy for Disney, at any rate. Frozen showed heavy longevity this weekend, taking the top spot in the box office despite being in its seventh week in theaters. The animated feature added more than $20 million to its almost $300 million domestic total. That was enough to outpace newcomer Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones which took second place with $18 million, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug which slipped to third after three weekends at number one. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, the fifth entry in the franchise, had the worst wide-opening in the series, falling well behind the $52 million and $29 million debuts of Paranormal 3 and Paranormal 4 respectively. While the steady decline points clearly to waning audience interest, the fact that this latest movie made $18 million in three days against a very modest $5 million production budget shows there's still some profit to be milked from the...

New York, Jan 5: A relatively rare two-headed calf was born in the village of Sefrou in Morocco on Dec. 30, 2013.
The unusual cow, which has brought an influx of visitors to the rural village, has been named Sana Saida that means "Happy New Year" in Arabic, the New York Daily News reported.

Whoa! Happy new year to you, Lea Michele! The singer-actress finished off her week-long vacation in Mexico on Jan. 3 by posting an extremely sexy shot of herself in a thong bikini.
Hey, who wants tan lines, right? Clearly not Lea Michele. After a couple of busy weeks promoting her new music, the Glee star decamped to Mexico for a vacation, and apparently spent the week taking in the beautiful warm weather in nothing but a skimpy thong bikini.
