Cara Delevingne Says Concerning Paparazzi Images Led to Rehab Stay, Sobriety Journey: “I Was Not Ok”
Cara Delevingne sparked widespread concern after paparazzi images captured at a private airport in L.A. last September showed the model and actress looking disheveled and acting erratically upon returning from Burning Man. Now, in a revealing cover interview with Vogue, the 30-year-old said she’s grateful for those images because it sent her on a path to rehab and sobriety.
“I hadn’t slept. I was not Ok,” she told Vogue writer Chioma Nnadi. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, Ok, I don’t look well. You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for.”
For the interview, conducted in late January, Delevingne confessed that she was four months sober after a stint in rehab late last year. “I’ve had interventions of a sort, but I wasn’t ready.

During his third day on the stand, Johnny Depp faced a grueling cross-examination from lawyers for ex-wife Amber Heard in his 50 million defamation lawsuit against the actress.
Heard’s attorney Ben Rottenborn grilled Depp — wearing sunglasses and a dark gray suit — over a series of embarrassing text messages and audio clips that depicted heavy drug use by the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

The jurors in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial were shown several text messages on Thursday in which he used violent and obscene language, and discussed copious drug and alcohol use.
Depp took the stand for the third consecutive day in a courtroom in Fairfax, Va., as his trial against ex-wife Amber Heard continued. Depp claims that Heard lied when she accused him of hitting her, and is seeking 50 million in damages for the harm she caused to his career.
In his testimony on Tuesday and Wednesday, Depp denied that he had ever hit any woman. He also alleged that Heard had repeatedly attacked him, and had thrown a bottle at him, severing the tip of his middle finger. Depp testified that he would customarily flee to a bedroom or a bathroom to get away from Heard when she was violent.

As spy films need gadgets and Swiss bank accounts, and Irish mob movies require bad Boston accents and crooked cops, the genre of films about freelance news videographers share a unifying concept: “If it bleeds, it leads.”
That was the finding of a federal judge Monday when he decided to throw out a four-year-old lawsuit brought against Universal, Bold Films, and Open Road Films, the producers and distributors of “Nightcrawler” starring Jake Gyllenhaal. It received an Oscar-nomination for its screenplay.
From the 1992’s “The Public Eye,” to 2014’s “Nightcrawler,” there’s a collection of movies focused on so-called stringers, the people paid to record late-night police chases, freeway wrecks, and fires for the gawking eyes of TV-news viewers the next morning — and the films, as a necessity, share certain un-copyrightable elements, a legal doctrine known as scènes à faire.

The 2019 Golden Raspberry Awards were announced right before the stroke of midnight on Friday night, February 22. These 39th annual awards, “honoring” the worst achievements in film, were decided by more than 1,000 eligible voting members across all 50 states and two dozen foreign countries, while the Razzie Redeemer Award was chosen by registered users right here at Gold Derby. So who were the big winners — or losers, if you will? Watch the complete Razzies announcement video above, and scroll down to see the complete list of nominees and winners below.

There are troubled productions, and then there’s the mess that is “London Fields.” A film that landed at the very top our list of the worst films in 2018, “London Fields” started with the best of intentions. Making his directorial debut with actors like Jim Sturgess, Amber Heard, and Billy Bob Thornton, filmmaker Matthew Miguel Cullen attempted to craft a fantastical story about a clairvoyant femme fatale who comes face to face with a dark premonition of her impending death by murder.

With the Academy Award nominations being announced tomorrow, here’s something a little lighter as a momentary distraction. The Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies, have announced their annual nominees. This “worst of” nominations list attempts to shine a light on the films and performances that were the opposite of high quality in a given year. For 2018, they’re at it again, with a new political wrinkle. This isn’t something to pay much attention to, but on the eve of the Oscars nominations, something silly like this is a change of pace, at least. Consider it an appetizer of sorts before the main course in the morning. This year, the Razzies were led by Gotti, which was “honored” with six nominations. Also taking in a half dozen nods was The Happytime Murders. In the top category of Worst Picture, those two movies were joined by Holmes and Watson,...

The Razzies have announced their nominations “honoring” the worst films of the year, and as usual they’re plucking the low-hanging fruit. “Gotti” and “Holmes & Watson” have the dubious honor of leading all films with six nods each, including Worst Picture; “The Happytime Murders,” “Robin Hood,” and “Winchester” are also up for the top prize, with Donald Trump somehow landing a nomination as well.

If their dismal reviews wasn’t punishment enough, for the 39th year, the Razzie Awards seek to recognize the achievements of the worst movies of the year. And for 2019’s crop of nominees, John Travolta’s “Gotti” and Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s “Holmes & Watson” both received the “honor” of being nominated for Worst Picture of 2018.
Melissa McCarthy might be nominated for an Oscar on Tuesday morning, but on Monday morning, she scored a nomination for Worst Actress for both “The Happytime Murders” and “Life of the Party,” and the former also landed among the five Worst Picture nominees. The box office bomb “Robin Hood” and Helen Mirren’s “Winchester” rounded out the nominees.

You’ve read about the best movies of 2018 — IndieWire’s staff list is topped by “Roma,” followed by “First Reformed,” “The Favourite,” “Cold War,” and “Shoplifters” — but what about the worst? As they do every year, the fine folks at Metacritic have crunched the numbers and come out with a list of the most poorly received films to come out in the last 12 months.
Dinesh D’Souza’s “Death of a Nation” has the dubious distinction of coming in at #1, but it isn’t just the worst film of 2018 — it’s the worst film in the site’s history: “Out of the 11,819 films for which we have Metascores,” the list reads, “‘Nation’ ranks as #11,819.”
The full list:
“Death of a Nation” (Metascore: 1) “London Fields” (Metascore: 16) “The Vanishing of Sidney Hall” (Metascore: 18) “Reprisal” (Metascore: 19) “Life Itself” (Metascore: 21) “The Clapper” (Metascore: 21) “211” (Metascore: 21) “Dark Crimes” (Metascore: 21) “Gotti” (Metascore: 24) “Stratton” (Metascore: 26) “Hell Fest” (Metascore:...

Every critic’s worst movie is another’s best, but Variety critics Peter Debruge and Owen Gleiberman had to draw the line somewhere. Whether it was the year’s top film at the box office, or a right-wing documentary that’s even worse than the filmmaker’s previous outrages, it was a good year to hate-watch.
Peter Debruge’s Five Worst Movies:
“Avengers: Infinity War”
Spoiler alert: The power-mad crazeballs behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe are out of control. First they blew up an entire planet (at the end of “Thor: Ragnarok”) and laughed if off, and then came Thanos’ snap, which (I said “spoiler alert” already — get off my case!) killed off half of all life in the galaxy. When that happened, I wanted to scream, “You can’t do that!” and not because I care about these characters (most of whom are quasi-invincible imbeciles anyway — although I was...

2018 was a great year for the box office with plenty of record-breaking hits, but even a good year has its bombs. Here are ten of the most notable bombs this year, including one from the biggest blockbuster franchise of all-time.
“Solo: A Star Wars Story”– Budget: $250 million, Global gross: $392 million
Disney broke box office records left and right this year, but it also had the most high-profile bomb of the year with this “Star Wars” anthology film that told the origins of Han Solo. With lukewarm reviews and stories of a rocky, budget-inflated production hitting the press for months before release, “Solo” became the first “Star Wars” film ever to fail to gross $400 million worldwide. With “Episode IX” still a year away, Disney execs have said that they’re taking another look at how they handle future films in this hallowed series.

Mathew Cullen isn’t haven’t a great week. And honestly, if everything were to go as originally planned, this would be a time of celebration for the director. Instead, after a delay of more than three years, Cullen’s feature film debut “London Fields” posted one of the worst box office debuts in history and has a terrible 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. And in a new interview, surprisingly, Cullen not only agrees with those reviews but also explains why he chose to be the scapegoat for the film’s failure.

“London Fields” opened in 613 North American theaters on October 26, over three years after it first premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and it struggled to find an audience. The film, based on Martin Amis’ 1989 novel of the same name, grossed only $116,470 during its opening weekend, which results in a dismal $190 per-theater-average. The numbers make “London Fields” the second worst box office opening for a wide release (a film opening on over 600 screens).
Amis reacted to the film’s historic bad box office in an interview with The Guardian. When asked about the movie’s poor reception, Amis said he was not surprised. “The film is rather confusing as it opens,” he said, “and it could’ve done with a lot more clarity in its first half or so. That’s all I can say. I mean, I never thought it would be a popular film.”

"This is the story of a murder. It hasn't happened yet. But it will." So began the unreliable narrator in Martin Amis' celebrated 1989 novel London Fields. A death foretold, the passage also aptly describes the Oct. 26 release of the film version, which in its opening weekend earned just $169,000, a near-record worst for a wide release.
"I've read the reviews. I agree with them," says director Mathew Cullen, speaking for the first time about the film, which received a rare 0 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. He and other insiders also revealed to ...

Not even a star-studded cast could save “London Fields” from pushing daisies at the box office.
The long-delayed mystery drama — starring Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, Johnny Depp, and Cara Delevingne — brought in a dismal $116,470 when it opened in 613 North American theaters. That means each venue sold just $190 worth of tickets. In other words, it was the second worst debut in recent history for a wide release (classified as any movie playing on over 600 screens) behind just “Proud American,” which launched with $96,076 in 2008, according to Box Office Mojo.
“London Fields” certainly had a tumultuous journey to the big screen, one that was plagued with a number of legal issues. Mathew Cullen directed the film, which was based on the 1989 dystopian novel of the same name by Martin Amis. It follows a terminally ill author suffering from writer’s block. The movie was originally set to premiere at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival,...
