This movie is fantastic plain and simple. Any horror and action fan would agree. The casting of Brad Dourif was perfect. I don't know who could have played a better evil doer and the character Mathias is one that Brad was destined to play. His voice is just chilling. The casting of newcomer Jordan Matthews was spot on. Not only does the guy have a menacing look, but the fight scenes are brilliant, bloody, and epic. The delivery is tantamount. If i could ever be in a movie or a lead in a film this would be it. I was initially put off the idea of the movie as i have heard an awful lot of comparisons to Twilight and have read a lot of hype about that specifically, but this is so distinctly different. The only comparison is the romance between the two leads, which isn't nearly as stressed, nor is it as interesting as the battles scenes. The last fight scene between Jacob and Mathias is sick and cool. The only problem is I wished it lasted longer. I want to see this on the big screen because I fear that I will be at a serious loss if it only comes down to watching the DVD....which I have now watched 3 times in succession, ever since my visit to my cousin's home in London. My own personal opinion is that a movie should suspend disbelief, capture the imagination which this does in spades. it is truly a film that you can lose a couple of hours watching and at the end feel like you have spent a worthwhile couple of hours. I would recommend this to anybody.
