My wife was pregnant during Covid last year and this movie really portrayed that struggle. It's authentic and brave to film a movie like this while pregnant and going through the pandemic. Definitely relatable and worth watching.

A bit more than what a grumpy old man couldve expected out of a corona inspired diy homemade film project, where the core issue is to be alone and to become pregnant when the world shuts down around you, jobs evaporating like water on a cooking plate, and things you take for granted becomes a deadly task to reach when whaling around in uncertainty.
Its a feelful story told trough facetime and cellphone audio, and goes into a more introspective documentary style the last 3rd part of the story. The amazing thing though is that this is a real pregnancy and a realborn creature of the human race . So if you dont feel the issues of it all in the enbd, then you are some kind of phatic with a negative digt in front.
Its not a marvellous film by all means, but it tells a pretty realistic story, so if youve got time to spend, and feel a bit pregnant yourself then have a go.

I can't even imagine the anxiety of being pregnant during COVID. I really admire these courageous filmmakers for fighting off their fears -- and turning on their cameras. They found a compelling story with moments of crisis and joy... and even some humor in the situation. I thought it was amazing to see the pregnancy recorded over time, a real woman's expanding body with nothing to hide. This was an interesting blend of fiction and nonfiction, the filmmakers bearing witness to a dark time in our lives -- definitely worth watching!

This film is the first that I've seen to weave the realities of 2020 into an authentic, touching and meaningful story. The story itself is one that would have been just as engaging even if not for its setting amidst a world-wide pandemic, because it shows the very real struggles of a successful, confident woman whose personal relationships don't neatly align with her biological and emotional readiness to be a mother - a reality for so many women. But the added complexity of facing that challenge in a world that feels it is shifting on its axis, not because of an imaginary sci-fi phenomenon or contrived disastrous circumstance that is dramatized with various CGI and special effects, but a reality the whole world is actually facing NOW and whose ultimate outcome remains unknown, makes it even more relevant and fascinating to watch. As much as the world is changing around us, some things like the worthwhile sacrifices of motherhood are impenetrable. The raw emotions portrayed flawlessly by the main character may blur the lines a bit between the feel of a documentary vs. A fictional story, but that only made watching it more even enjoyable for this viewer.

The heart, love and story of the film sold me in the trailer! Then I watched the bts film on HBO! Then I watched the film! It made me FEEL all the emotions that I want when I watch a film. I can't tell you how much this movie made me love seeing someone's journey during covid. And mostly during their own emotional journey of motherhood! Kudos to Dan and Selina for making this, in my opinion highly recommended film!

Loved every minute. Kept me captivated an loved every minute being an older woman understanding the joys of motherhood and all that goes with it. The movie I felt had no agenda. Looking forward to seeing it again and to the masochistic remarks I see. Boo to you.

This film touched me on so many levels. I loved the story and the vulnerability of the lead actor as she goes through her pregnancy journey. Truly thought this film was one of a kind and I am so excited to share it with everyone.

A stunning and raw portrayal of pregnancy in 2020. The story is beautiful, heartwarming, and relatable (even for someone without children). I so admire the bravery in continuing to film this story throughout a pandemic and capturing this moment in time for expecting mothers - and the end product is an honest and poetic representation of love. Do yourself a favor and watch this film - you will not be disappointed.

What an unbelievable concept for a movie and what a beautifully made film. A case of art and life coming together as one. This story of a woman deciding to have a child on her own during the crazy year that was 2020 is a marvel.
Beautifully filmed, exquisitely acted the movie incorporates the leads real life pregnancy into the story which makes it even more entertaining. The raw emotion that Selina Ringel displays as Eva brings the story to life. You are with her all the way; you feel her anxiety as a pregnant woman during Covid knowing she was going through this in character and in real life at the same time.
This movie gave me a "Boyhood" like feel. Dan Levy Dagerman and Selina Ringel (Director & Producers) have created a one-of-a-kind movie that has heart, soul and I dare you not to feel the love you know that went into making this film.
A fresher idea has not come around in a very long time. Please take the time to fall in love with "Single Mother by Choice" on HBOmax.

It tells the harrowing story of a brave woman choosing to have a baby by herself, and then covid hits. Especially for people who went through more during covid then the average person (I did) this will speak to you. Loved it, it felt real.
Selina did such a beautiful job with this film. Definitely recommend watching this film!!! You will be so glad you did :) It's a real movie that shows authenticity and what's it's like going through so much growth during a pandemic.
