Four CEOs are set to return to SAG-AFTRA headquarters on Tuesday with a new offer that they hope will break the stalemate in the 102-day actors strike.
Among them will be Disney’s Bob Iger, who called SAG-AFTRA’s top negotiator, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, on Saturday to invite the actors back to the bargaining table.
The CEOs — who also include David Zaslav of Warner Bros. Discovery, Ted Sarandos of Netflix and Donna Langley of NBCUniversal — are eager to get a deal as soon as possible, in hopes of salvaging next summer’s box office and some portion of the 2023-24 TV season.
On Monday, Paramount announced that it was postponing the next “Mission: Impossible” installment from June 2024 to May 2025. More delays could follow if the strike is not resolved soon.
Iger’s call lifted the spirits of SAG-AFTRA leadership, who saw it as confirmation that the union holds the leverage to win a transformational deal.

We might be entering the dog days of summer but Hulu isn’t slowing down. The streamer’s list of new releases for August 2023 is a pretty impressive collection of content.
The biggest Hulu original this month is season 3 of true crime comedy Only Murders in the Building on Aug. 8. This time around Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are joining the already-stacked cast that features Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This season’s central murder appears to take place at a theater (outside the building) but I think we’ll let it slide.
That’s far from the only worthwhile original in August as Aug. 2 sees the premiere of the third and final season of superb comedy Reservation Dogs. That will be followed by South Korean sci-fi series Moving on Aug. 9, Solar Opposites season 4 on Aug. 14, and A Murder at the End of the World on Aug. 29. Of course,...

Lindsay Lohan first came into the public eye when she was a child - and she's been a famous name for many reasons ever since. High: 1998The world first met Lohan back in 1998 with the release of The Parent Trap, which was a smash hit and shot Lohan to child stardom. But five years later, she had her first big success as a teenager: Freaky Friday, starring alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. High: 2004But it was Mean Girls that really raised Lohan's star status.

Here is episode 8 of the ongoing comedy series "The Art of Theatrical Ushery," by filmmaker Christopher Banks. The series, which deals with the daily trials and tribulations of being a movie usher Ronnell (played by Banks) in a multiplex movie theater, is a re-edited and re-tooled version of a feature that Banks created. However, the now reformatted web series, he feels, is much closer to his original intentions; Or as he says: “Every minute, every second (is designed) to make you laugh.” So now here is the 8th episode, entitled "Labor Pains" in which Ronnell, due to circumstances beyond his control, is forced to find another line of work...

For a very specific demographic, the ultimate news was just announced: Lindsay Lohan will appear on Watch What Happens Live! The episode will air next Thursday, April 17, EW has confirmed.
“This one is a long time coming. We love Lindsay and plan to celebrate the s@%# out of her!” host/executive producer Andy Cohen told E!.
Fans of the show know this has the potential to be quite the memorable episode. Not only is the live program proudly booze-soaked (a tradition they will obviously (right?) forgo for the evening), but the program’s cheeky charm thrives on Cohen asking the guests just-this-side-of-inappropriate questions.

It’s perhaps the worst kept secret in TV that Homer is a terrible father, but in the latest episode of The Simpsons, Homer finally learns what it means to be a good father, at least for this week.
In this week’s episode, Homer spins a tissue of lies that allows him to play cards with the guys at Karl’s house while telling Marge that he has to work late. On his way home, Homer encounters Karl’s neighbour, Gretchen (special guest voice Elisabeth Moss), and is forced to deliver her baby when the power goes out, stranding them in the elevator. Homer develops an attachment to the baby, who Gretchen names Homer Junior (finally, Homer has someone to call HoJu!), and despite Marge’s shock and anger that Homer has a new family on the side, she can’t dispute the effect that HoJu has on the big guy.

Since the very first day director Paul Schrader (American Gigolo) and author Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, The Rules Of Attraction) announced on Kickstarter they were making a film, the Internet has been dying to know: ‘What exactly is The Canyons?’ Of course things only got more complicated as the year went on. Porn star James Deen was named the headlining star, Lindsay Lohan had been baited to join the cast, The New York Times wrote a thoroughly juicy profile on the film and it was rejected from Sundance. Things went from interesting, to weird, to bad news bears in less than a year but now, it’s here. The Canyons has finally arrived, for better or worse, and these are the ten things you need to know before seeing it.

Katie Holmes has maintained a relatively low-key persona in the aftermath of her divorce from Tom Cruise last summer, but now she's getting back to business with her first movies since 2011's "Jack and Jill" and the ReelzChannel miniseries "The Kennedys." The Simpsons is welcoming another member of the Mad Man cast to Springfield: Elisabeth Moss will voice a character on Fox's animated classic this fall, Vulture can exclusively report. According to showrunner Al Jean, "She'll play a character stuck in an elevator who gives birth to a baby. She names it Homer, Jr." (Peggy Olson is pregnant again!) For you detailed-oriented Simpsons diehards, the episode's title is "Labor Pains," Moss's character is named "Gretchen," and Fox is tentatively scheduled to broadcast the episode on November 13 as part of the show's 25th season. The Simpsons long ago established its love for Mad Men: Both Jon Hamm and John Slattery have lent their voices to the show, while this 2008 parody of the AMC drama's opening credits was pretty much perfect.

The family experiences its most joyful occasion, and most tragic setback, as the season winds down.
The Crawleys made their annual trip to Scotland on the Feb. 17 season finale of Downton Abbey, but even though they got far away from home, they brought all of their baggage with them: Mary (Michelle Dockery) bickered with Edith about her relationship with that newspaper chap, Anna revealed her “racy” side to Bates, and the family officially decided to house Rose while her parents go to India — even though Rose sucks.
A very pregnant Mary also had everyone concerned when she had to leave the Ghilles’ Ball early — oh, did I forget to mention there was another time jump and she’s pregnant now? — but she was able to get home and give birth to a healthy baby boy just in time.
Of course, the Crawleys’ celebration will likely be cut short when they...

Lord Grantham fought with nearly everyone in the abbey — and a few outside the abbey — this week, proving once again how truly awful he is.
I’ve always hated Robert (Hugh Bonneville) for being such a self-righteous d-bag, but never have I wanted to punch him through the TV screen more than during the Feb. 3 episode of Downton Abbey. Still angry with her idiot husband for letting Sybil die, Cora has been sleeping alone. No matter how many times Robert asked to be let back into bed, she refused him, unable to forgive him for listening to Sir Phillip over Dr. Carson. In fact, it wasn’t until the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) asked Dr. Clarkson to lie and say Sybil would...

Stop reading now if you haven’t seen the Jan. 27 episode of ‘Downton Abbey!’ (Also, buy a DVR!)
The TV world lost a gem of a character Jan. 27 when Downton Abbey‘s Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) died during childbirth — technically we actually lost her back when the episode originally aired last October in the U.K., but whatever — and as always, fans used social media to express their outrage.
While opinions are like Twitter handles — everybody’s got one — I decided to sift through the internet and pick out some of my personal favorite reactions.
My first selection comes from comedian Patton Oswalt, whose live tweets of Downton Abbey are among the best things on Twitter. Rather than wish the writers had decided to let Sybil live, Mr. Oswalt dreamt up a supernatural scenario in which the residents of Downton literally battle the forces of life and death to revive her.

On the Jan. 27 episode of ‘Downtown Abbey,’ one beautiful new life was created, while another shocking death rocked the entire series. Dr. Linda Burke-Galloway spoke to HollywoodLife.com Exclusively to reveal the details behind the illness and why it killed a beloved Crawley family member.
Downton Abbey is nothing if not shocking — and episode four of season three caught everyone off guard when one of the Crawleys suffered a shocking death that no one saw coming.
On the Jan. 27 episode, sweet Sybil Crawley went into labor, but the joy of having a baby was stifled when Dr. Clarkson pointed out that Sybil suffering from symptoms of preeclampsia — she had swollen ankles and there was excess protein in her urine, but Sir Philip insisted the symptoms were just normal signs of childbirth.
It turns out, her symptoms were something — Sybil was suffering from the dangerous condition called preeclampsia, also known as toxemia.

Cora Crawley is beyond right to blame her dolt of a husband, Robert, for the unnecessary death of Downton’s most beloved character.
Cora Crawley experienced an earth-shattering tragedy on last night, Jan. 27′s episode of Downton Abbey. Just at a time that should have been full of happiness — her daughter Sybil is expecting a baby and the family’s estate has been saved by Matthew Crawley’s inheritance — there is an unexpected death and Robert is to blame!
Cora’s beautiful “baby,” youngest daughter Sybil, who is just 24, dies minutes after childbirth due to a severe case of eclampsia. Now Cora is in agony experiencing what no parent ever should have to endure- the death of a child.
But what is particularly tearing apart Cora is that Sybil’s death could likely have been prevented.
Why Robert’s To Blame For Sybil’s Tragic Death
And the person most...

Account of Taylor's stormy relationship with Richard Burton will be actor's first major role since 2009
Lindsay Lohan has signed on for her first lead role since 2009 after being cast as Elizabeth Taylor in Liz and Dick, an account of Taylor's tempestuous relationship with Richard Burton.
The troubled actor was forced to drop out of her last high-profile role, as Linda Lovelace in the biopic Inferno, after breaking probation conditions by missing a mandatory progress hearing relating to a 2007 DUI conviction; instead, she attended a promotional event at the 2010 Cannes film festival.
Lohan said: "I am very honored to have been asked to play this role."
Since starring as a woman who fakes her pregnancy in Labor Pains in 2009, Lohan has only been seen on screen in a small part in the Robert Rodriguez action movie Machete. Liz and Dick, however, is unlikely to make it to cinemas as it has...

When this idea was first tossed around back in January, we figured it was yet another publicity stunt by the producers and/or Lindsay Lohan's people to drum up news for the project and the actress whose legal troubles have largely kept her out of movies for the past few years, except for a cameo in Robert Rodriguez's "Machete." But somehow insurers for the movie are appeased that she'll appear on set, as the actress has landed her first lead role since 2009's "Labor Pains" and she'll be taking on a titan.
THR reports that Lohan will play Elizabeth Taylor in "Liz & Dick" in what will surely be a quality production for the Lifetime network. The film, penned by Christopher Monger (HBO's Emmy-award winning "Temple Grandin") will focus on the tempestuous romance between Taylor and her fifth/sixth husband, and co-star in "Cleopatra" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf,...

Lindsay Lohan Set as Liz Taylor for Lifetime?
Here is the Hollywood question of the day, folks. Who would you cast to play Elizabeth Taylor in a new Lifetime movie? Director David Fincher has made Angelina Jolie his very own Cleopatra, which is a role Taylor made famous. Also, Megan Fox, has that dark-haired, light-eyed look, which Liz embodied. But, would Lindsay Lohan make your list of hopefuls? According to this week’s news, the 25-year old could win this part of a lifetime.
According to the Deadline exclusive, despite some notorious bad behavior, Lohan is in preliminary discussions regarding a starring role in the upcoming Lifetime original movie Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. Richard is Richard Burton.
The picture will be produced by Larry Thompson, who also worked on Amish Grace, the Lifetime original tracing the aftermath of a grievous shooting resulting in the death of five Amish children.

Lindsay Lohan may portray Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie. Deadline reports that Lohan is in early talks for the female lead in Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. Lindsay Lohan is rumored for the lead role in Lifetime’s upcoming Elizabeth Taylor film Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, according to Deadline, but let’s just say we’re not stocking up on popcorn, Kleenex and Snuggies just yet. Well, we’re not buying any more of them, that’s for sure.
Because let’s be real for a second, shall we? In 2011 alone we heard rumors about Lindsay’s starring role in Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story (no, no, not that Linda Lovelace movie), her potential turn as her mafia doppleganger Victoria Gotti, her aspirations to play Charles Manson victim Sharon Tate, and Stephen King’s desire to see Lohan covered in pig’s blood for a potential Carrie remake. We all want to see that pig’s blood thing happen, but so far absolutely none of these projects has ended in screen time for Lilo. Sadly, if...

Is Lindsay Lohan headed back to TV? The 25-year-old actress may have been bumped from a racy Linda Lovelace biopic, but now she's in talks to play another (less infamous) iconic screen presence on the small screen.
The actress is in early talks to play the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime biopic "Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story." A source familiar with the negotiations told TheWrap that Lohan is in early conversations about the project.
Lohan actually got her start on the small screen in 1996, starring as a purple-gelatin loving young-in opposite Bill Cosby in a Jello commercial. With a taste of TV on her resume, Lohan got her big break in 1998's "The Parent Trap." Then, she returned to television to star opposite Tyra Banks in the 2000 Disney Channel original movie, "Life-Size," followed by another Disney made-for-tv film, "Get a Clue," in 2002. Lindsay Lohan can't seem to get arrested these days when it comes to big-screen projects (pun intended), a fact which has forced her into the less-than-ideal position of vying for roles in made-for-television movies, the first of which came in the form of the ABC Family original movie "Labor Pains" in 2009. Exclusive: After emulating Marilyn Monroe in a series of photo shoots, most recently for Playboy, Lindsay Lohan may be taking on another screen legend, Elizabeth Taylor. I have learned that the 25-year-old actress is in early talks for the female lead in Lifetime’s original movie Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, chronicling the enduring love of movie icons Taylor and Richard Burton, whose fiery romance was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day. Roadside Attractions have released the first poster and trailer for director Matt Luetwyler’s Answers to Nothing, which includes amongst its ensemble cast one Mr. Dane Cook – the Us comedian whose comedy and whose films have divided audiences everywhere.
