Richard Kelly has not seen this film and vows not to as it had nothing to do with him and tainted and meddled with his original vision for the Darko mythology.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is offered the opportunity to make a cameo with her character Elizabeth Darko. Maggie and her brother Jake Gyllenhaal stated that they were not interested in appearing in the film.
Daveigh Chase is the only actor to return from the previous film.
This film was made on a 25 day schedule, for under $4 million.
Patrick Swayze originally portrayed Jim Cunningham again, but his poor health prevented him from participating in the film. His character was replaced by the Christian pastor. Swayze would die one month after the film's release.
