Humanity and monsters had been at war for some time but now there is peace. In the city of Lindworm monsters and humanity live side by side. Our protagonist is Dr Glenn Litbeit, a human, who specialises in treating various monster series. His assistant is a lamia, half snake half woman, named Saphentite 'Sapphee' Neikes. Together they treat a variety of, mostly female, monsters... including a centaur, a mermaid and a harpy amongst others. Inevitably some develop feelings for him.
When I saw this series I suspected it might contain a lot of fan service like 'Monster Musume', as it has similar creatures and a not totally dissimilar premise. It turned out this series is far more innocent in tone... I don't recall any nudity in this series. The plot is simple enough and the characters likeable. There are plenty of laughs to be had and a few mildly tense moments. The animation is good as are the character designs; particularly those of the various monster girls. Overall I wouldn't call this a must see but it is a pleasant way to pass the time.

This would be a great show to check out if you're not sure what to watch or want to multi-task and listen to this in the background. Visually, this is a very neat show with unique scenes; it's cool to see all the different creatures depicted and the scenarios they end up in. However, the plot is weak, with the main focus being fan service and the fantasy of a popular male doctor who gets fawned over by every girl he meets.
Every episode features "medical" treatments performed by the main character on a different female monster. Nearly every interaction is an excuse to allude to sex, physically and verbally. If a male-centered raunch-fest is what you're looking for, this is a perfect fit. Like many other shows, the male protagonist never responds to his many admirers and acts completely disinterested in relationships and sex. I think this show would've been more compelling had the main character been a female instead, which is what I thought the title meant by "Monster Girl Doctor".
I nearly stopped watching this during the first episode and it didn't really improve in the 12-episode run. It was just barely entertaining enough to hold my attention.
Language: English, dubbed Channel: Crunchyroll Suggested Audience: 13+

Monster Musume no Oishasan is a hidden gem that exceeded my expectations! Glenn's dedication to his profession and obliviousness to his patients' affections is both humorous and endearing. Saphentite, his intelligent and resourceful assistant, secretly harbors feelings for him, making their dynamic a joy to watch. The storyline balances humor and heartwarming moments perfectly, with well-developed and relatable characters. Don't miss this lighthearted, humorous series with a touch of romance! Just remember to grab your headphones - some scenes are best enjoyed privately! Highly recommended for fans of comedy, romance, and fantasy.
