Chandraswami (Swamiji in the web series) was the spiritual advisor of Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao. He was allegedly involved in the killing of Rajiv Gandhi. Chandraswami is said to have dispensed spiritual advice to the Sultan of Brunei, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain, actress Elizabeth Taylor, British PM Margaret Thatcher, arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi, crime lord & underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim, Mit Mody and Tiny Rowland, among others.
The character of Ajay Kedia is based on Ajay Kayan, who ran the Kolkata-based stock broking firm C. Mackertich with his father, Gouri Shankar Kayan.

The character of Tyagi is based on A. S. Thiyagarajan. He was the Area Head of Citi Bank during the time the show is set in. As of 2022, he is the MD of Aquarius Investment Advisors Private Limited.
