The Espn reporter announced the birth of her and husband, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Christian Ponder‘s second child – a baby boy named Robinson True Ponder – on Tuesday.

Sports stars, fans and commentators alike mourned the death of Kathy Berman, the wife of legendary Espn sportscaster Chris Berman, after she died in a car accident in rural Connecticut on Tuesday.
Connecticut State Police told Patch that a vehicle driven by Edward Bertulis, 87, was struck in the back by the Lexus Kathy was driving while both were traveling eastbound on Sherman Hill Road in Woodbury.
Kathy’s car veered off the road down an embankment and overturned in a small body of water, while Bertulis’ vehicle crashed into utility pole and landed upside down in the center of the road.

One of Espn’s original anchors Chris Berman, who joined the cable sports network a couple of weeks after its 1979 launch, has signed a new multi-year contract extension. The new deal will begin in 2013 and at its conclusion, he will have worked for Espn for nearly 40 years. A six-time National Sportscaster of the Year, Berman will continue as the leading voice and face of Espn’s NFL studio coverage as host of Sunday NFL Countdown for a 28th year, Monday Night Countdown and Monday Night Football halftime, NFL highlight segments on SportsCenter and the NFL Draft. He will also continue to host baseball’s Home Run Derby and Espn’s U.S. Open golf coverage.
