Ryan Seacrest predicted that half of Times Square would be fans of South Korean boyband Bts, and judging by the volume of screams heard throughout ABC’s broadcast of “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” the Bts Army was in full force.
Loyal fans came early to cheer on the group — comprised of members Jimin, Jin, Rm, Suga, Jungkook, J Hope, and V — and patiently waited with handmade signs and light sticks to cheer the occasion. All day, the group was prominently displayed on billboards in Times Square as diehards secured spots for the group’s early afternoon rehearsal.
Just before the band took to the stage in front of an estimated one million people, the side of the ABC area was cordoned off, paving a path for the group to make its way safely through the crowd.

So what does a young superstar spend his time thinking about? Classic rock, mostly, along with the occasional movie or TV show. Harry Styles has always been a voracious scholar of pop history — the kind of guy who obsesses over John and Yoko album covers and Fleetwood Mac deep cuts. “We’re all just fans,” he says. “I’m just a music fan who happens to make some.” These are just a few of Harry’s favorite things — some influences, some inspirations, some heroes.

Just when we all thought 2016 threw some of the craziest possible curve-balls, 2017 came along looking to show us what real dramas, scandals and all-around madness truly look like.
From Hollywood royalty having adorable babies to actual royalty getting engaged, the year wasn't without its heartwarming moments – but make no mistake about it, we got more than our fair share of heartache, tragedy and stomach-churning scandal to balance it out.
So let's take a look back at the past 12 months, and see some of the year's greatest highlights and darkest moments – as well as some those pop-culture zeitgeists that captured our attention, long enough for us to temporarily forget our woes.
[Note: We basically left out political stories from the list entirely, both out of a concern for brevity, and our own sanity.]
1. Two Sets of Twins!
February kicked off with a pregnancy announcement that dominated the news cycle unlike anything in recent memory, when Beyonce took to Instagram to gleefully reveal that she and Jay-Z were expecting twins.

Diwali – This is that season of the year when biggest of the films are most awaited by audiences across the country. The phenomenon has continued to build strong for over a couple of decades now, so much so that every film that arrives in the festive season is being looked at as the next Blockbuster in the offering.
Ajay Devgn has been one of the superstars to have lapped on to this phenomenon well for a decade now. What started back in 2008 [Golmaal Returns] is pretty much leading to something even bigger in 2017 [Golmaal Again], what with fourth in the Golmaal franchise all set for a major success.

Edgar Wright's films are often likened to musicals, with his precise use of editing and shot choices giving us some of the most stylish comedy films of the century. Nicole Kidman just revealed she was once engaged to rocker Lenny Kravitz, telling The Edit that she was quietly betrothed to the father of her Big Little Lies costar Zoë Kravitz years ago. The actress and musician dated in 2003, and People covered their under-the-radar romance in this vintage cover story below:
One thing you can say for Nicole Kidman: The woman knows how to keep a secret. Throughout the summer, the Oscar-winning actress dismissed inquiries of a romance with rocker Lenny Kravitz with “we’re-just-friends” denials. Yes, she was renting his apartment, but please don’t get the wrong idea.

For celebrities — much like Marlo from The Wire — their name is their name. It’s their livelihood, it’s their first point of recognition for their fans, and in some cases, it’s roughly 90 percent of their earthly value. So you can understand why they might be pretty protective of it.
With the dust still settling from the recent Kylie Minogue vs. Kylie Jenner courtroom battle, we decided to take a look back at some other celebrity lawsuits involving either their name or, in some cases, a certain phrase very near and dear to their heart.

If you want to stay competitive in the dating game, you have to bring the bling … or car, or luxury handbag — really anything that costs more than most Americans make in a year.
Recently, Drake took his relationship with Jennifer Lopez to the next level, gifting her a very special piece of jewelry: a Tiffany Victoria necklace valued at $100,000. Lopez wore the 17-in. diamond strand— which features more than 15 carats worth of round-, pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds set in platinum — on New Year’s Eve, as seen in the photo above.

The makers of the upcoming short film ‘Raakh’ have finally revealed the first look of the film. Written and Directed by Milap Zaveri ‘Raakh’ is a thriller starring Richa Chadha, Vir Das and Shaad Randhawa. The film is presented by Officer’s Choice Blue and is set to release online on 7th November, 2016!
The motion poster justifies the title Raakh: Ashes to Ashes, as we see the actor’s faces being revealed from the smoke of a burning match stick. The first look of the short film has been launched on the auspicious day of Dusshera to emphasise that ‘Evil will Burn’.
What catches our attention is the song playing in the background, in the melodious voice of singing maestro Sonu Nigam. This is the first time that the singer has lent his voice for a short film and from what we hear it seems to be an emotionally stirring song.

In Cell by Cell, I look deeply into the panels of an issue, appreciating and analyzing the story and artistic composition.
Page 3-4
We step back from the screen to see who is watching: Father Josephson. He has a conversation with his wife before meeting with Makoto Maki who will later be revealed as Meiko’s father.
Of note on this two-page spread is the color transition repeated in the background of most panels. Blue on top, pink on bottom. The gradient is tempered with a gray to make it more subtle, but the connotative effect reinforces the hegemonic power divide that is the backbone of the series. Blue, the color of boys, on top of pink, the color of girls. Men are in power, even in the background color.

One customer of the clerk’s practice paper mâché voodoo with a chicken costume and a doll resembling his neighbor. The neighbor has a doll of him that she brutalizes. Conspirators of Pleasure follows six people, each with their own incredibly unsettling fetish. A letter carrier ingests dough balls every night before bed. A clerk is obsessed with a new anchor and creates a machine that pleasure him while he watches her. That anchorwoman has an odd obsession with live carp. One customer of the clerk’s practice paper mâché voodoo with a chicken costume and a doll resembling his neighbor. The neighbor has a doll of him that she brutalizes. Finally, the anchormwoman’s husband rubs homemade contraptions to rub all over his body. Conspirators could simply be a character study that, while still strange, would not be nearly as creepy. Švankmajer’s known for his animation and puppetry,...

Commonly known as a lieu that breeds new filmmaking talents, Caitlin Coder, Jordan M. Smith, Nicholas Bell and I had the pleasure of uncovering/discovering a new batch of filmmaker talents (here is last year’s list). Here are our Top 20 New Voices countdown:
#20. Tessa Louise-Salome (Mr. Leos Carax)
Described as a work in progress, documentarian Tessa Louise-Salome continues her fascination with Leos Carax in this debut. A look at the mysterious and alluring director, we are guided through his scant but magnificent filmography with snippets and clips, while she interviews several cast members of his works, including Denis Lavant and Kylie Minogue, as well as Harmony Korine, who had cast Carax in his 2007 film, Mister Lonely. While we never quite get to learn anything more about the man known as Leos Carax, it’s a welcome substitute for the aficionados and fans that wish he would work more frequently.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the whole of America is gearing up to celebrate one of their most cherished celebrations.
At the intersection between Bollywood and Hollywood stands Akshay Kumar, an A-list Indian star and an unofficial global ambassador for Indian cinema. Akshay has been associated with the Us in a number of ways and not just through his associations with Western artists such as Brandon Routh and Sylvester Stallone in Kambakth Ishq, Kylie Minogue in Blue and American musicians such as Ludacris and Snoop Dogg.
Akshay has expressed admiration not just for American talent but also American traditions. Hence, on the joyous occasion of Thanksgiving, Akshay extended his warm wishes to Americans across the world: saying:

Mumbai, Oct 22: "Blue" director Anthony D'Souza would have gone into oblivion had it not been for Akshay Kumar's support. Now he marvels at the response to his new film "Boss", and he is planning an aerial adventure drama.
"It's a pet subject. It's a project close to my heart. And I want to make it the way I do. I am happy that 'Boss' has been accepted. More than myself, I am glad for my wife who has gone through three years of uncertainty. And my eight-year-old son loves 'Boss'," said Anthony.
Talking about the response to "Boss", Anthony said: "How do I feel? No, I don't feel vindicated, just happy and relieved that my producers will make money. My film opened very well at the single theatres. It is an out-and-out masala.

An attempt at a sleek action thriller didn’t go down well with the audience so Blue director Anthony D’Souza tries his hand the desi-way. His second release once again stars Akshay Kumar however, Boss is no stylish action thriller with foreign locales but rather is a tale of a home-grown hero.
It’s expected that when you walk into Boss you won’t be getting a dose of thought provoking cinema, but rather a 3-hour entertaining ride that should have laughs, cries, dances, punches and of course, a happy ending. This Anthony D’ Souza directorial tries its best to deliver exactly that. Boss is family drama at the heart of it all. The film is an adaptation of Vyshakh’s Malayalam film Pokkiri Raja that had originally starred Manmooty, Prithviraj and Shriya Saran. It’s the story of Surya (Akshay Kumar), a renowned don who was heartlessly kicked...

Akshay Kumar is back with Khiladi 786, his eighth Khiladi (The Player) movie over the past 20-odd years. It's been a dozen years since he released a film with that title, but he has far from abandoned the character he perfected in the '90s. The last few years have seen Kumar playing the same over-the-top hero character in masala film after masala film to typically very good box office results. In fact, whenever Kumar tries to stray from the path he built for himself with offbeat films like 8x10 Tasveer, Blue, or Joker, audiences tend to stay away in droves. In a way, even though this film doesn't have an original bone in its body, I'm kind of glad that he has accepted his role...
