I had forgotten that this was being made, so when I saw this on Disney+, it surprised me. So I'm watching this now and I am actually really impressed. Making Doogie a girl was a great idea. And the meta connection of saying that this child prodigy was nicknamed because of the Doogie Howser TV show from the 90s was a terrific touch. Of course it means we don't get to see a 40 something Howser in a character cameo, but we might get to see Neil Patrick Harris in an actor cameo. The series has plenty of potential!
It usually takes an episode or 2 for characters to find their niche. I like the way the actors are melding now. It is happy and cute. Nice distraction.

Really loved Doogie Kamealoha MD, for me the show got off to a slow start, original rating 7⭐, feeling a bit one dimensional, but the show got better & better with each episode, adding depth to the characters and to the show, with S1E10 being best, so beautiful & touching😭💙; final rating 9⭐!!! Awesome setting, wonderful acting, funny, love dramedies, great sound track and love giving Hawaiian stuff real place in show!!!

This was a serie that I've been putting off, because I thought I wouldn't like it because I thought it was childish. I was completely wrong, I loved the serie I saw it in 2 days, and I really want to see more, I hope there is a second season. 🙏 I loved the cast, excellent actors and actresses, I laughed a lot with the episodes, this series is super well done, good images from hawaii, good vibes, good soundtrack. I LOVED IT.
I am so sad that it ended today 😭

It's okay, but the best friend makes it hard to enjoy as she always seems to be trying to take over the scene rather than elevate it. I don't think it's necessary to have a bestie anyway considering she's a genius and a resident, as a nurse I know they usually work pretty grueling hours and are exhausted and underpaid. I know it's not supposed to focus on the medical side though I don't think there are any alarming inaccuracies, I also like how it focuses on things more likely to occur where the show is based. It's a typical show with a teenage girl do teenage girl trying to teenage girl things while balancing her busy unique life. I love seeing Hawaii too!

This show is actually pretty good. Really enjoyed watching it with my daughter. Was a huge fan of the original NPH version, but this show pays neat (and funny) homage to it in episode one and then goes on to develop its own thing. Very funny at times, for family humor, and very well cast - we love the characters. Especially good for adults and kids together. I don't even usually like Disney stuff, but try this.

I love everything about this series, a 16 year old genius doctor, a very chill surfer dad and a busy-body mom trying to balance being a mom and running a hospital. It's awesome to see how Lahela learns that being a doctor doesn't translate to other skills, how Claire learns to try to go with the flow, how Benny helps everyone find the beauty in life. I hope to see more development between Kai and B. P., I'd also love to see what happens when Walter goes on tour and how Lahela handles that feeling along with (hopefully) being promoted to Chief of Residence.

This show caught me with episode 1. In the 10 episodes, I was taken on a journey with Dr. Lahela "Doogie" Kamealoha through her life as a prodigy. The journey included the ups and downs of her life and why she goes by Doogie (which was a very touching episode). Other reviews stating about how some actors should fix something cosmetic need to grow up, not everything about everyone is perfect! I love this show and am one hoping and waiting for more seasons!!!

We looked forward every Wednesday to see new episodes... hopefully there will be more seasons. Characters were well mixed, storylines were fleshed out well... Will be sad if it's discontinued.
Not sure why everyone in Hollywood insists on rehashing old hits. They were hits for a reason and their success cannot be duplicated. This is teenage dribble with very little to keep the fans of the O. G. Doogie interested.
I don't understand why this show is receiving so much hate. Doogie Kamealoha, M. D. is a super cute and wholesome show. I am a mother to two young/pre-teen daughters. This show has turned out to be a perfect mix of Disney kid friendly with a slight preteen edge to it. It has also taught some valuable lessons. We watched it together as a family and we all really enjoyed it. The adult humor that is slipped in is my favorite.
We recommend it and are very hopeful that there will be a season 2!

The target audience is clearly 18 years-old and under. Extreme medical heroics and jargon from a 16 year-old to impress that audience, then simplistic teenage clichés to appeal to them.
Connecting this show to "Doogie Howser, M. D." in any way was a mistake because it brought the attention of adults like myself who were fans of the original show. The original show had appeal to a wider age range, since it did not focus primarily on teenage banality.

I need a season 3 so badly. Nico and Lahela are my favourites. This show is such a good one, good teen show, such a tearjerker but a happy one. I want Nico and lahela together so badly, Walter just isn't as good. I love the little brother. The best friend is so cute too.

My 13 year old daughter loves that series, so I watched some episodes with her, and I have to say that it is a very good show for this age group. So all the haters should not compare this show with Breaking Bad or the Wire. It's a fun teenage show with sympathetic characters, about first love, responsibility and some medical and socials topics. The acting is good and at least in my humble opinion the production quality is quite high. That the location is set in Hawaii helpes for great locations and great views. So please take this show for what it is. If you are a over 40 year old single part time movie critic with no kids, skip this show. Do you want your daughter seeing a smart teen show, let her watch this.

Absolutely LOVED it! As an original Doogie fan, I was little concerned that this would turn out terrible... but I was so wrong. I also loved how they didn't reboot Doogie and gender bend. (Nothing against either of those, they are just doing it too much anymore) They even mentioned Doogie as a being a tv show and not a real person that she's named after. I think that made all the difference. And the casting! Such a good job. I don't think anyone could have played it better. (Well, besides Neil Patrick harris) It was funny, and heart warming, and I just over all enjoyed every bit of it. I think her love interest would be way better if it was the kid she was crazy about in Andi Mack though. Lol.
My suggestion is ignore the stars and the reviews here and watch it. If you hate it, you hate it. If you don't, you don't. Some of these reviewers are middle aged and trying to critique these kids shows for being too immature or, well, age appropriate. It is still designed for kids. 🤷♀️

I have nothing against Peyton Elizabeth Lee. The problem is that she is just the wrong choice for the role of Doogie because she doesn't look nearly young enough to make the premise of the show work.
Neil Patrick Harris as Doogie Howser worked because he LOOKED LIKE A CHILD he was 16 when the show started, but he could have passed for 12. That's where all the humor and tension and drama of the original show came from.
Lee looks young, sure, but not so young as to be distressing when she offers medical expertise. She could easily pass as a generic 20-something.
With this original sin, the show never had a prayer.

Worst remake on the planet. Disney thinks putting "Doogie" in the name it will get adults to watch with their kids. Why just bring Neal Patrick Harris back instead.
I love this show so much! I know people are like "oh wow, disney isnt creative" but i like this better because its a 90's show spinoff that appeals to gen z. I wait for wednesday like it's christmas. And this show has actually inspired me quite a bit, in a lot of ways! My favorite show!

Being born and raised in Hawaii, this first episode was amazing to watch. All the little connections to Hawaii that us locals will understand was awesome to see. I thought the actors did an amazing job. I was a big fan of Andi Mack so seeing Peyton in this role was not hard for me. She does an amazing job portraying Doogie. Emma Meisel as her best friend was so fun. She's got this energy that is great to watch and she's funny. Jason Scott Lee as the Dad is every local boys dream of doing what they love for a living and he's awesome in this role. Kathleen Perkins is amazing as always and as Dr. Clara Hannon, it's no different. Also love that another local boy Matt Sato got an opportunity to play a role in this show as Doogie's older brother. All in all, a great first episode that made me laugh, cry and smile. Can't wait to see more. 🤙🏼
