Originally called Ferocious, Dark Nemesis is artist/director Drew Maxwell's latest independent, green screen opus. His last film, Carnivorous has its fans and its detractors, but I like that Maxwell has the ambition to get his vision up on the screen in feature form, regardless of budget and I think a lot of the images in this trailer represent some of this hard work.

To date, director Drew Maxwell owes us Two post-apocalyptic adventure in 2009. The first is Dust, a Def-Con 4 style humans versus mutants adventure, and the other is Ferocious, an intriguing medieval post-apocalyptic creature feature coming from Shoreline Entertainment.

We found some intriguing production images that were taken during the filming of Ferocious. Unfortunately, they're not stills so they're kind of small and don't give us a true idea of the what the film will look like.

Drew Maxwell's upcoming post-apocalyptic film Dust hasn't even released a trailer and we're already getting word that he's already in post on a exciting sounding Pa fantasy adventure called Ferocious. Check it:

No word yet on who's starring or what the budget is set at but since it's in production at Shoreline Entertainment I imagine it's fairly well funded. As usual we'll keep you posted.

I think it's the writer in me that has always loved short films. Sure, a short film can display a director's visual prowess - his mastery of the technology of filmmaking - but so much of what makes a good short film compelling is the screenplay that he/she is working with. 10-30 minutes isn't very long to tell a story (let alone invent an entire world) but, with a solid piece of writing behind you, it's all you really need to suck viewers in and then spit them out the other side. Short films are like short stories and, in my opinion anyway, the best short stories always bring you full circle when you finish reading them. They should leave you with a weird sense that, within the irony of their internal logic,...
