As Arnold Schwarzenegger publicly disavows “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” it’s probably even more unlikely that Donald Trump will earn another Emmy nomination this year – and, even less likely, the thing he has really coveted for years: An Emmy win.
NBC leaves it up to the production company whether to submit for Emmy consideration, and MGM, which now produces “Celebrity Apprentice” (having acquired Mark Burnett Productions a few years ago), has not yet determined whether it will enter the show for Emmy consideration.
If it does, then MGM is contractually obligated to submit Trump’s name as an executive producer (even though his input on this season was minimal) alongside Burnett and others. (NBC, coincidentally, has avoided naming Trump or the show’s other executive producers in its press materials for the show.)
“The Apprentice” (including Trump) was nominated for an Outstanding Reality-Competition Program Emmy in 2004 and 2005, but never again.

The Philadelphia 76ers have apologized to singer Sevyn Streeter, after preventing her from singing the national anthem at a game because she was wearing a jersey with the words “We Matter” on it. “We are sorry that this happened,” the NBA team said in a statement Friday. “After receiving feedback from our players, basketball operations staff and ownership group, we believe that the wrong decision was made, and Sevyn should have been welcomed to sing.” The team added that it has invited Streeter to sing at a future game. Once upon a time, President Barack Obama was a Senate newcomer with a unique name—and Kelly Clarkson will never forget that. During a late night interview with Seth Meyers Tuesday, the Grammy winner traveled in time to a moment that is forever burned into her memory—the moment she was asked to introduce Obama in front of the Senate. "I just want to emphasize that not anyone out of Chicago knew who he was," Clarkson said of her first meeting with the future Commander-in-Chief. Before becoming a new senator, Obama had won two Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word Album and Clarkson was tasked with introducing him since they were both bonafide Grammy winners. "I don't...

Well, that was fast! Minutes after taking his final Hamilton curtain call, creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda chopped off his now-signature long hair. "Teach 'em how to say goodbye…" the 36-year-old wrote on Twitter, adding a black and white picture of a single cut lock of hair lying against a white table. The actor and songwriter then debuted the cut at his goodbye party, posing for photographers on the red carpet while wearing a shirt in tribute to the late Muhammad Ali. It didn't take long for his 659,000 Twitter followers to quickly dub his 'do the "Hamilcut." Teach 'em how to say goodbye.

Jessica Lange got one statuette closer to joining the pantheon of uber-talented folks who have picked up the grand slam of entertainment awards, the Egot (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). At Sunday’s Tony Awards, she won the Lead Actress in a Play honor for Long Day’s Journey Into Night, her first Tony. Lange returned to the role of Mary Tyrone in this year’s revival of the Eugene O’Neill play after she told her American Horror Story producer Ryan Murphy that she wanted to revisit the character. She’d played the part in London 16 years ago. The Ahs/Glee creator got a shoutout in Lange’s acceptance speech when she thanked “my dear friend Ryan Murphy, who made this possible to do.” Two of Lange’s three Emmys are for American Horror Story. The other is for 2009 HBO movie Grey Gardens. The first award she logged for her pending Egot was her Oscar for Tootsie in 1982. She won another Academy Award in 1995 for Blue Sky. Still needed to get Lange into the Egot club: a Grammy. We know she can sing, as she did on multiple occasions for American Horror Story and for Grey Gardens. There is also a less musical way she could earn a Grammy: Best Spoken Word Album. But just you wait: Lange’s win may not be the buzziest bit of Egot movement in 2016. Lin-Manuel Miranda began 2016 with two marks on his Egot checklist: His Tony for In the Heights and an Emmy for writing original lyrics for a song in the 2013 Tony Awards telecast. Now monster hit Hamilton’s earned him three more Tony statuettes and the Grammy that got him one step closer to Egot status. Next up, his chance at an Academy Award — Moana. By the first sweet sound of Miranda’s tunes we got to hear in the Disney musical’s teaser trailer released today, Miranda may have a solid shot at an Oscar in next year’s ceremony. Miranda and Lange accepting Tonys on Sunday night. Miranda read a sonnet he wrote for his acceptance speech for Best Original Score. Photos credit: John Paul Filo/CBS Frozen songwriter Robert Lopez is currently the youngest of the exclusive club of 12* to call themselves Egot winners and also the one who worked his way to winning all four the fastest (within 10 years). If Miranda walks home a winner from next year’s Oscars, when he’ll beat Lopez for both distinctions at age 37 having won all four awards in just less than nine years. *Yup, just 12, when you’re only counting competitive (not honorary) wins Hamilton made Tonys history as the production with the most nominations ever (a whopping 16). Though it didn’t break the record for most wins — its 11 statuettes are just shy of The Producers’ record 12 — history still happened in Manhattan tonight: For the first time, all four musical acting awards went to people of color — Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, and Renée Elise Goldsberry and The Color Purple’s Cynthia Erivo. Tell the Oscars that Broadway gets the job done.

The Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album has always been a mixed bag, awarding comedians (Stephen Colbert), actors (Cynthia Nixon) and writers (Maya Angelou), among others. Several politicians have prevailed as well, including Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and comedian-turned-senator Al Franken. The nominees for the 58th Grammy Awards have been revealed, and while the Big Four categories lacked any major surprises, this year's full crop of nominations did have some unexpected hopefuls in unfamiliar categories. From the year's leading rapper up for Best Dance Recording and a diss track garnering the voters' love to Patti Smith hoping to end her long Grammy shutout with a Spoken Word win and Roger Waters' 1992 LP getting a 2015 nod, here are the weirdest, most surprising and unknown Grammy nominations.

The nominees for the 58th annual Grammy Awards were announced this morning, with a fairly predictable mix of artists securing the most nominations: Kendrick Lamar with 11, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd with seven each, and Drake with five (though none for "Hotline Bling," because Drake didn't submit it). The "Furious 7" and "Fifty Shades of Grey" soundtracks got some love, too, thanks to "See You Again" (three nominations) and "Earned It" (three noms) and "Love Me Like You Do" (two noms), respectively. There were a few surprises, too. Paul McCartney is now nominated for two rap Grammys (that's what happens when you collaborate with Kanye West). Seth MacFarlane, the creator of "Family Guy," got a Best Traditional Pop Vocal album nomination for "No One Ever Tells You," which will put him up against Tony Bennett, Bob Dylan, Josh Groban, and Barry Manilow. This isn't MacFarlane's first Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Grammy nomination,...

The Grammy Awards were announced today with Kendrick Lamar (11 nominations), Taylor Swift and The Weeknd (7 nominations each) leading the nominee pack. But here at The Film Experience we're only really concerned with the visual categories.
I'm not including Grammy's Spoken Word category as I am sometimes prone to do because there aren't actors involved this year beyond Amy Poehler who is nominated for the audiobook of her "Yes Please" memoir. But don't get too excited about her nomination. The brilliant Poehler seems to be a statue repellent; she's not anywhere close to an Egot since she's never even won a damn Emmy despite years of TV brilliance.

Kate Winslet may be looking at her seventh Oscar nomination thanks to "Steve Jobs," the new Danny Boyle-directed biopic of the tech innovator, but that seems like a marginal curiosity compared to her other award-centric feat: She only needs a Tony to complete the storied Egot -- Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. She's already collected an Emmy for "Mildred Pierce," a Grammy in the Best Spoken Word Album for Children category thanks to her narration of "Listen to the Storyteller" (alongside Graham Greene and Wynton Marsalis), and an Oscar for "The Reader." "I know, I've got a Grammy!" she exclaimed in our interview. "What's that about?" Melissa Rivers thinks “it would have been nice” if the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had decided to include her mother, Joan Rivers, in Sunday’s Oscars In Memoriam tribute. TheWrap, along with other viewers, noticed that the late comedian was not included in the segment, despite directing Billy Crystal in 1978 film “The Rabbit Test,” as well as several big screen roles. She was also a fixture at the Oscars with her pre-show coverage, largely of the show’s fashions. Et obtained a copy of the documents, Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers, is an executor of the will, and was left with all of her tangible property. Rivers' grandson Cooper, niece Caroline Waxler and nephew Andrew Waxler were given a blind trust.

John Waters, Grammy Nominee !This isn't The Music Experience but we should glance toward the Grammy nominees. Among the "record" and "song" of the year categories, which are kind of like the actress and actor to "album of the year"'s best picture --it's a tortured analogy, just go with it -- my votes would go to... no, I can't do it. No preferences. I like most of them but, frankly, they all remind me of other better songs especially "Chandelier" which is like "Umbrella: The Sequel" and "Fancy" which is like a weaker and more annoying Stefani track. Plus I thought "All About the Bass" was a two-for-one Novelty Song download deal with Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" -- I had no idea it was respectable music! What would the Best Picture equivalent be at the Oscars? I can't even imagine...
But, again, not a music guy. Outside of movie...

One of the Broadway greats has passed away.
Broadway great Elaine Stritch has passed away on Thursday morning. She was 89.
Though the five-time Tony nominee is perhaps best known for her stage presence (Bus Stop, Sail Away, Company), her TV and film resume is also quite impressive.
From 2008-2013, she was nominated for an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series Primetime Emmy for her role as Colleen Donaghy, the mother of Alec Baldwin's character Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock. In 1993, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Law & Order.
She's also appeared in two Woody Allen movies, September (1987) and Small Time Crooks (2000). Her other more recent film credits include Monster In Law (2005), Autumn In New York (2000), Screwed (2000) and Out to Sea (1997).

It was just last week when it was announced that David Letterman was stepping down from The Late Show after 21 years; now we already have a new host (among other duties) to announce.
Stephen Colbert will not only host The Late Show but will also serve as a writer and executive producer. He was probably a top 3-5 choice of most people who care to talk about these TV news items, so I don’t expect much of an uproar. We shouldn’t expect he will bring the satire and parody that made him famous on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, it’s The Late Show after all, right?
Here’s the boring press release:

Taylor Momsen is back in the controversial spotlight, this time for her full frontal nudity in a new music video for her band The Pretty Reckless “Heaven Knows.”
Taylor Momsen Strips In New Music Video
While the Nsfw “Heaven Knows” music video was released over a month ago, the March release of The Pretty Reckless’ second album, Going to Hell, is bringing Momsen’s risqué behavior into the light, with the video now up to over 3 million views.
“Oh Lord, heaven knows / We belong way down below,” Momsen sings on the new single.
In the scandalous video, Momsen appears singing dressed in a black robe, and eventually takes off the robe, revealing her naked body underneath, covered only by body paint. Across her chest is painted a thick black cross, which creates an arrow at her hips.
The image is shown from a distance, and so is not quite as revealing as one might imagine.

The music industry's biggest night was filled with skin, surprises and tons of high notes. But unlike other awards shows, most of the trophies are passed out before the actual ceremony. In fact, Cyndi Lauper announced a few early winners in a pre-telecast event in Los Angeles. So who took home Grammy awards before the show aired? Michael Bublé took home his fourth Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Grammy, while Ziggy Marley and Steven Colbert also earned top honors. The Comedy Central TV host won for Best Spoken Word Album, while Marley was awarded for Best Reggae Album. Adele also earned a Grammy earlier in the night, but was not on hand to accept the coveted...

After finally snapping "The Daily Show's" Best Variety Series streak at the Emmys in September, will Stephen Colbert continue his awards romp at the Grammys? He is nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for the audiobook of his latest patriotic masterpiece, "America Again: Re-Becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't." If he wins, he'll have a bookend to his Comedy Album Grammy from 2009 for "A Colbert Christmas." However, he's at risk of splitting the vote with three other comedians in his category: actors Carol Burnett ("Carrie and Me") and Billy Crystal ("Still Foolin' 'Em"), as well as comic essayist David Sedaris ("Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls"). That could clear the way for legendary 94-year-old folk singer Pete Seeger, who currently leads our racetrack odds for "The Storm King," his collection of stories and poems. Seeger has wo...

Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Film selected Ryan Koo, The Summer of Flying Fish director Marcella Said (right ont pic above) and Jordana Spiro (who we sang the praises for with her short 2013 Sundance-preemed Skin) are among the twelve plus participants for the upcoming 2014 Feature Screenwriters Lab (which takes place one week before the actual festival).
At this point, the lab have probably easily broke the one hundred project count (with a good percentage of them panning out into an eventual feature film – see Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, Andrew Dosunmu’s Mother of George, David Lowery’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Andrew Renzi’s Franny as recent examples). The international class of January ’14 (read project descriptions and bios below) will be coached by no other than: Dustin Lance Black, Naomi Foner, John Gatins, Michael Goldenberg, Erik Jendresen, Patty Jenkins and Spaghetti Western fanboy and former lab attendee Quentin Tarantino.

Val Kilmer says Betty White is "evil" -- but admits that he resembles the former "Golden Girl" when dressed up as Mark Twain. The star of "Citizen Twain," a play about the author, joked on "Conan" that White won a Grammy that should have been his. Kilmer was nominated in the Best Spoken Word category in 2012 for his narration of "The Mark of Zorro," but White won for her audiobook. In the 1980 U.S. presidential election, President Jimmy Carter was swept out of office, losing 44 states while being bogged down in the Iranian hostage crisis. However, since leaving the White House, Carter has been on a hot awards streak. When "Argo" won the top Oscar, Jimmy Carter became the first U.S. President to make an appearance in a Best Picture (in the form of brief narration that closes out the film). Funny, because “Argo” focuses on the Iranian controversy that helped sink Carter’s re-election efforts. Another bit of irony: the man who beat Carter in 1980 was former Hollywood actor Ronald Reagan. Of course, Carter didn’t receive an Oscar when "Argo" prevailed, but back in 2007 he took America's top music award. He reaped the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for the audio version of his book “Our Endangered Values.” He was nominated again in 2008 for “Sunday Mornings in Pl.

The only out lesbian winner of the whole affair was Janis Ian, who won for Best Spoken Word album.

"I wasn't expecting this!" is what Bonnie Raitt exclaimed after she upset the Grammys' Album of the Year frontrunner, Mumford and Sons, in Best Americana Album.
