This episode is dedicated to Gaspard Ulliel, who portrayed Anton Mogart / Midnight Man and died two months before 'Moon Knight' premiered, due to a brain injury caused by a skiing accident on January 19, 2022, at the age of 37. 'Moon Knight' was the last project that Ulliel finished filming. At the end credits there is a title card that reads, "In memory of Gaspard Ulliel". This was the first time that Marvel paid tribute to Ulliel. Nearly 20 hours after the episode was made available on Disney+, Marvel Studios' official pages shared a tribute to Ulliel that read, "Moon Knight's episode 3 is dedicated to our talented friend Gaspard Ulliel."
The scenes where Anton Mogart is riding a horse were done by Gaspard Ulliel himself. The actor had learned how to ride a horse when he played Henry I, Duke of Guise in The Princess of Montpensier (2010). Moon Knight's director Mohamed Diab said that knowing how to ride a horse was one of the reasons why Ulliel was cast as Anton Mogart.
When she finds him in Egypt, Layla quips that Marc sticks out because he is very clearly not Egyptian. This is a Marvel inside joke: actor Oscar Isaac was previously cast as Egyptian villain En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, in Marvel/20th Century Fox's X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) despite not being Egyptian.
The name "Rufino Estrada" is given as an alias for Marc (Oscar Isaac). Estrada is Isaac's real last name.
Oscar Isaac told French magazine Télé Loisirs that shooting for this episode took place on a wild set where there were many horses and clouds of mosquitoes, and that Gaspard Ulliel was filming shirtless, so he was being eaten alive by the mosquitoes like all of them were, but especially Ulliel in particular. Despite that, Isaac never heard Ulliel complain. "He arrived like a pro, he was so generous, so adorable and very sensitive", Isaac said. May Calamawy told France's AlloCiné that Ulliel was a very hard worker and what he did on set was very impressive.
