Letter of Reason was originally a half page poem. A small amount of the original poem is in the full feature length version of the final film product. In the 60-minute play version most of the dialogue was still a good chunk of the poem. It was changed for the film to make it more of a conversation and less a reciting.
The original actor to portray Jonathan in the play versions was Adam Ginsberg. Fun fact about Adam, he wore aging make-up and audiences never knew he was not the 72-year-old man Jonathan is, but, a decades younger man.
Carl DiModugno was the director's first choice for Jonathan in the film adaptation of Letter of Reason. The two have worked on several projects at the time of filming this project. One being both Thomas J. Bellezza (writer/director) and Carl DiModugno performed in Hamlet at the same time. Thomas as Hamlet and Carl as Polonius.
Roberto Capriotti was cast on 02.17.2020 after auditioning with three major scene moments. He has a lot in common with Jacob. Both he and the character were extremely good at baseball and eventually had to stop even though they played at college levels. Roberto is about the same age as Jacob at the time of filming.
