How can I describe the raw feeling and emotions that this movie made me feel in a simple review? the answer is that I cannot. Instead, I shall do my best to summarize EXACTLY why this movie is so fantastic.
First things first, the opening of the movie. The opening does a fantastic job at diverting the viewers expectations. by starting us off at an extravagant house party, it not only is used for setting up the main cast, but also serves as the setup for the biggest case of juxtaposition i have ever witnessed. transitioning from a scene where Bugatti's and Lamborghini's are but mere decoration, to a dingy and decrepit hospital gave me a good case of whiplash based solely on how immediate it was.
The attention to detail is also extremely impressive, as the female lead is never seen without an absolutely stunning makeup job, even after the events that set up the plot for the rest of the movie. And don't even get me started on the poor old woman in the hospital! she looked as though she came straight out of an episode of "long island medium", but the director used his flair and experience to make her fit the scenes she was in beautifully.
The movie was also very suspenseful. in the scenes with the titular ghost, the characters acting was stunning, and the ghost itself left me with a sense of dread, especially when it stayed in shot, completely still, for a few seconds after the characters fled the scene. and the ghosts abilities were showcased to their full extent.
For the acting, the cast was marvelous. they were very apt at showing the perfect emotions to fit the scenes, and they delivered their lines perfectly. they also had perfect chemistry with the other actors, and, at times, I could FEEL the emotions radiating off the male and female lead.
Speaking of leads, lets talk about Teddy. He is by far the best character, hands down, in the whole movie. The way he effortlessly fits into every scene he's in is equal parts terrifying and astounding. he also plays his role flawlessly.
All in all, I CANNOT recommend this movie more.
Watch it.
Seriously.
Now.
As of the time of writing this review, its on Netflix.
if you are reading this review you literally have no excuse to not be watching this film.
