The first Gingerdead man film from 2005 wasn't a good movie. With elements that were barely passable, it was hard to like anything about it. The acting wasn't believable, the special effects were cheap and the villain was wasted. Plus, the only main attraction for watching the movie was to see Gary Busey act as himself and voice the chunky funny gingerdead cookie man. But apparently, either there was a small fan base that demanded a sequel or the release of the 60-minute film gained enough money to render a sequel. Not sure which is the case but here we are the next installment - and it doesn't improve much at all.
This next chapter of the wisecracking serial killer cookie brings us to a troubled film studio that can't cut a break in problems. Its whole crew is a bunch of misfits that don't cooperate and could care less who they're working with. Leading this poor operation is director Kelvin Cheatum (Kevan Moezzi), who smiles like he's never heard of bankruptcy being a bad thing. However, it's not until a package of baked goods come on set and inside lies the dangerous gingerdead man. So my question is, how did he come back to life? How did he get all the way to this set? It was clear to why the gingerdead man needed victims, but why was it necessary to get his victims from this specific studio set? Viewers won't understand.
As for acting goes, Moezzi isn't a good actor at all and perhaps that's how his character was supposed to be written, but I found the first movie better because at least the actors tried to make their characters seem real. And they knew fear when problems arose, but here Kelvin is just a grinning emotionless shell of a character. The new voice actor behind the gingerdead man is okay but Gary Busey at least would've still been more appreciated. However, viewers may enjoy Joseph Porter's performance as Tommy. He gives his character a unique spin that even I was not expecting. That is one plus.
And the last two pluses are the special effects and violence. Considering the first film had bad special effects and a very small amount of violence, the improvement is noticed and it looks better to be honest. Sadly this doesn't help improve its overall score. The overall writing isn't good either. In fact, the title to the film only ties into the story at the very end. It's cheap, lazy and insulting to think that's how a story is told. There has to be a lead up to this kind of result, but instead it's just inserted last minute to stay true to the title. Not even the music helped this time around. Just another cash in is all it is.
This sequel has extremely loose continuity and bad acting. Even with improved special and practical effects, the character development is feeble and its plot is hardly even there.

I basically love any and all movies Full Moon releases, so yea I liked this movie. I like that it was set on at a movie studio - obviously one just like Full Moon.
This was campy fun, with some gore, and a nice stupid twist right at the end. Oh, and it also had a dose of Satanism! Which, for me, anyway is something that is near and dear to my heart. In a way, this whole movie is kind of a spoof of Full Moon productions. It also touches a lot on the whole internet driven movie fandom as well as what its like to run a low-budget movie house. Oh, did I mention there is a crazy gingerbread man running around killing people? That alone makes this 100% of awesome.

No pun intended - this sequel may be the best in the ... well trilogy of this series that exists (I am not counting the crossover movie where the Gingerdead man meets the Evil bong ... especially because I have not watched it yet) ... this even has a flashback and a "what happened so far" intro to the movie.
So we are all up to date, when the movie begins. It is all wink wink - fully aware of what it is and way more on the fun side than the first movie, that tried to be quite serious. It even has a few cameos that work really nice. People that you may know if you are a horror movie fan. Nicotero, Buchler to name just two.
So while this isn't amazing or anything of that sort ... it still is quite fun to watch - no pun intended here either ... plus better effects (bit more budget I assume).

Ever since this title was announced way back, I had been waiting patiently for a chance to watch it, granted the first one was one big pile of drivel, I had always maintained a certain level of hope for an improvement with the follow up.
Sadly to say, and not for the first time, 'Gingerdead Man 2' - The Passion Of The Crust, although at it's festering heart contained a serious good idea, I found my patience beginning to wear very thin as I was treated to a ten minute recap from the original.
Having spent the vast majority of my teenage years viewing every movie that Charles Band had produced, jumping on board with Empire Pictures, and then holding on for dear life with Full Moon Pictures, I have pretty much witnessed the good, the bad and the downright ugly! No matter how bad the proceedings, I will always give over my time for a movie produced by the man himself, but dear oh dear, the last couple of outings have left a lot to be desired, 'Doll Graveyard', 'Dangerous Worry Dolls'.
Now the notion of a movie within a movie has always been an intriguing idea, one such movie that comes to mind was Fred Olen Ray's 'Bad Girls From Mars' starring Edy Williams.
Granted that film was any great shakes, the only thing that kept it afloat was the odd flash of nudity to keep the movie trucking along! with 'Gingerdead Man 2' it was good to see such legends from the low budget film world strut their stuff in front of the camera, make-up maestro John Carl Buechler showed his acting chops as the beleaguered director Orson Biggs! It was also pretty cool to see scream queen icon Michelle Bauer steal some screen time as one time scream starlet Polly Bunderhoof, even twenty something years on, Miss Bauer still looks pretty stunning! At the film's core, was the idea that this low budget film company, Cheatum Studios, you have to love that name have been struggling for some time to make any sort of entertaining movie, and of course through William Butler's screen story, this idea in itself is a thinly veiled mickey take on the financial ups and downs of Charles Band himself.
I guess therein lay the problem for myself, I wanted to enjoy the movie, but it just kept on dragging on and on, getting involved with a myriad of ideas that mainly led the movie nowhere, such is the case with the Full Moon ideas being produced.
A quirky movie at best, and although I know Part Three will fast approach at some point, depending on the budget of course, I really do wish Charles Band would think outside the box and give the Full Moon fans something decent to watch.
My rating is 1 because the Cookie Has Crumbled!

Well i had to rate it 1/10, because there was no 0/10.. i can't call it a movie, or should i call it a 10year old director movie.
B movie? rather call it a Z-movie. After seeing half of the movie, i said to myself thank you very much, i've had enough. Acting is even worse, special FX.. pfff, and lines.. pathetic. this movie is AWFUL!
Budget: 100$ (IMO)
P.S. i didn't see the first part, but some people say that THIS one is better, so i wonder about the first part..
So don't waste money renting it. I rather watch grass grow than this movie again!!

This movie is sick! Not only the crappy acting and camera work it's also quite inappropriate and has the worst horror movie plot imaginable. All that happens is a bunch of people on a movie set that cuss about toilets and a girl that hits on filmmakers and brings in the deadly gingerbread man. Younger viewers will most likely be scarred for life by watching this creepy and disgusting "film." The only thing that makes this so-called movie great is the fact that it is so badly filmed that it is hilariously stupid. If you are looking for an ACTUAL scary horror movie this is not for you. It will only leave you nightmares of a stupid puppet that doesn't even know his lines. If you are looking for a "horror" movie that you want to cringe at the whole time than pick this one up!

Wow!--A MUST SEE! Make way for the new cult film of the millennium. This little fan-film is a hilarious outrage for anyone who has ever seen a Charles Band production.
I saw the Full Moon screening and was blown away.
Up there on the screen was a painfully accurate parody of Charles Band himself! A low budget film about a low budget film producer who makes bad puppet movies!!! The dialog and effects are over the top and unforgettable.
The casting was dead on and perfect.
And the Cameos were amazing! The producers of the film got a bunch of horror film directors to play, horror film directors, --Dave DeCotau, played himself, John Beuchler, played himself, Adam Green, played a bum... Okay so Adam Green ain't a bum, but he's funny as hell! -- Michelle Bauer played an aging eighties scream queen, and Kenneth J. Hall played a really bad self obsessed actor...
The movie will have you whooping with laughter as you are introduced to a new batch of bad puppet creations called the "Tiny Terrors" including Sh*t For Brains, Haunted Dildo, Treasure Chest, Knob Goblin..
And the old Ginger Dead guy is hysterical as the killer cookie on a rampage.

See this film!
Released in 2008, this sequel to the cult classic The Gingerdead Man (2005), sees this follow up in a different tone and atmospheric setting. With a different director (Charles Band has seemingly abandoned the film), this film is more of a traditional horror slasher film with more gore and more violent kills
The original Gingerdead Man wasn't a good movie. Although it had elements that were barely passable, it had a certain fun, silly and cheesy aspect. The acting wasn't the greatest, the special effects were cheap and the villain was wasted. Arguably speaking, the only main attraction was to see Gary Busey act as a character and voice the beloved Gingerdead Man.
The plot of this film is entirely generic and gets boring quick. Surrounded with the Gingerdead Man coming back to life killing members of a film crew on a supposedly movie set. The lead characters were bland and not likeable.
The acting was subpar, not exactly convincing and borderline cringe (mainly the character of Polly). The new actor voicing the Gingerdead Man voice just isn't as great as Gary Busey's.
The subtitle "Passion of the Crust" refers to the finale where the Gingerdead Man is pinned across a large wooden cross as a religious symbolism.
Overall this film isn't great, comes across as awkward, unfunny and doesn't have the same silly cheese factor as the original.

Gingerbread Man 2 (2008) is available for free on Tubi and continues our tale onto a Hollywood movie set where they make...really bad movies. Can the failing movie studio finally do something right and stop the Gingerbread Man or will he be the straw that breaks the studios back? This horror movie is directed by Silvia St. Croix (Corona Zombie) in her first major motion picture. I actually enjoyed that the film didn't take itself seriously across the board - the characters, action scenes and lines all fit the content perfectly, like a comic book in a way. The Gingerbread Man lines were hilarious. The cast was bad but fun and includes Michelle Bauer (Sexual Witchcraft), Michael Deak (Deja Vu), Travis Joe Dixon (NCIS) and Junior Hoang (Watchmen). Overall this is a film you watch for entertainment value, like Killjoy, and keeps you laughing throughout. I'd give it a 5/10.

If you haven't seen the first Gingerdead Man film (trust me you didn't miss much), you needn't worry the entire thing is recapped in the first few minutes or so of this one. Nope Gary Busey isn't in this one, but he isn't missed much as the Gingerbread man is pretty much a background character in this movie, most of the story is on the satire of the happenings of a Full Moon-esquire studio. Filled with in-jokes and b-movie mainstays both in front and beyond the camera sending themselves up, this film was indeed a cut above the previous one and my preferred film starring the Gingerbread Man of the three that he's been in (he made a cameo in "Evil Bong" as well)
My Grade: C+
DVD Extras: A promo for Full Moon website; Trailer for this movie; and trailers for "Dangerous worry dolls", "Evil Bong", & "Decadent Evil 2"

Regularly amusing and well made horror spoof with Charles Band and some Full Moon Productions buddies in ultimate 'taking the mickey' out of themselves mode. Stand-up comedian K-Von is suitably selfish as a kind of Charles Band head -of-studio who has inherited his father's love of low budget horror films and his studio (cue Albert Band's influence for his son). The Gingerdead Man accidentally finds his way to the studio and causes havoc as would be expected. It is difficult to say much about the film without giving the main jokes away, but for those familiar with Full Moon's output and Band's reputation then this is a hoot. Brother Richard Band provides a good score and some of the most talented Full Moon bunch are involved (think writer William Butler). I suspect that director Sylvia St. Croux is really Band himself and further testament to the sense that he knows how bad he can be (e.g. not paying staff). Ricardio Gill is great in a brief Phil Fondacaro spoof scene (clue: Phil swears about Band a lot). Older British actor Jacob Witkin is almost as good as the similar and great Pupper Master Guy Rolfe (Witkin was actually in 'Puppet Master Legacy'). Kelsey Sanders is an attractive female lead, one-to-watch.

I mostly enjoyed this movie. And I would've given it a much higher rating of it wasn't for Kelvin. Worst human ever. The whole idea behind it was fun. Very different from the original. And that's what I like about sequels. But that guy Kelvin. Ughhhhh. Is it Possible to have a human anymore annoying than that guy. It's like he's trying to be funny and charming and trying to steal scenes. But there is absolutely zero redeeming qualities in him. I would buy this movie if it weren't for him. I own all the gingerdead man movies. Even the really bad ones. But Kelvin ruins everything good about a franchise. If you can avoid him. Watch it.

I saw this movie at the premiere. Get some friends together and go for a fun roller-coaster ride with this flik.
The writing is very good. The director did a nice job with casting. There are some fresh faces in this and some stale faces (the Gingerdead Man)
It was actually a nice balance between humor, horror, thrills, and surprises.
This could easily become a cult classic and there were so many laughs our groups face hurt and their stomachs got a workout!
Keep em coming.

Everything that was wrong with the first film is fixed in this one. The humour actually lands successfully, the story is interesting enough to keep my attention throughout, and the acting is significantly better. Of course, it's impossible to say that any of these films are genuinely "good" (although they DO offer exactly what they advertise to you), but this film is entertaining at best, if for nothing more than a cheap night of stupid comedy/horror hybrid entertainment.
The first film (the Gary Busey offering) isn't essential. In fact, skipping right to this one will create a much smoother point of entry into the series for any viewer. Busey's film was mediocre at its absolute best, abysmal at its worst. This film is was entertaining and genuinely fun, a massive improvement.
How did the Gingerdead Man come back from the fate of the previous film? Unlike a franchise like Chucky, this film doesn't bother to explain; he's back, simply because (I'm assuming) the audiences of the first film asked for more.
This film takes place at a film studio, offering a good opportunity to make some in-jokes about Full Moon, the studio that released this franchise, Killer Bong, Puppet Master, etc., especially a gag about the studio relying so heavily on puppet-centric films. Just like everything else in this sequel, it just works.
This is definitely a "so bad it's good" kind of movie. It's the vibe I think the first one was going for but, for whatever reason, it just wasn't able to pull off. Replacing Gary Busey brought a lot more charisma and comedy value into the series. Hearing the vulgar lines coming out of Gary Busey just wasn't funny or entertaining; here it's genuinely good for a laugh.
Skip The Gingerdead Man and go straight for Passion of the Crust! You won't regret it (I hope).

I saw this film and laughed so hard I hurt myself. I swear, at one point I thought I was going to lose an eye from the amount of tears running down my face.
The Writing and Directing was audacious and irreverent. They continually raised the bar on each gag and poked fun at everyone you could imagine. Just when you thought you'd "seen it all", they hit you with another outlandish and totally hilarious scene. This is El-Oh-El Funny, people!!!
The Casting was brilliant! Kelsey Sanders and Kevan were absolutely dead on perfect choices for their roles as Heather and Kelvin. (This all American clean cut couple rivals even Janet and Brad, in my opinion!) Their performances were wonderfully crafted in the face of an intense amount of dialog and action sequences and a joy to watch. Bruce Dent was an absolute hoot with his over the top portrayal of Ricki Johnson. He used subtle and honest reactions to build a believable character and then ramped it up to like 110 or 220. He did whatever it took to curl your hair. Joseph Porter's portrayal of Tommy Hines was a stellar achievement. I quite honestly thought his performance was one of the best I've seen in an up and coming actor and I can't wait to see what he brings to the table next! (But, No Pressure, Mr. Porter!) If he's not signed yet, someone better grab him quick because he is going to blow up the entire Hollywood scene!
A Big "Thank you" to the entire cast and crew for cooking up a seriously funny, no holds barred, take no prisoners movie. I will never again be able to smell cinnamon extract without having to think of this gem!

I attended the screening for this bad boy and was pleasantly entertained. The movie took me back to a time in the 80's when there were great cult films like Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and Nightmare Sisters. If any of the fans out there loved those type of cult classics you are going to love this gem. The make-up effects and the campy humor are to die for. The one liners are totally outrageous and the character building is truly refreshing. There are some twists and turns that surprise you in the end unlike the typical "saw it coming" movies. The "B" movie is back at it's finest. Get ready to roll through this puppy with shocking visuals, laughter and truthful implications that only a true low budget fan can appreciate. Don't miss it!
While watching this flick, I laughed so hard that my false teeth shot out of my mouth (in the balcony), down to the mezzanine!
The acting, director, and writing is audacious and irreverently funny. The film reminded me of a bunch of other films, and the memories made the whole movie even more hilarious, including the sequel title "...Passion of the Crust". I couldn't help but think that the whole story was about resurrecting MGM and its golden age through the vision of (would you believe?) Louis B. Mayer's 'son' (I don't believe that Louis B. Mayer had a son). And, his 'son' reminded me of an Alan Ladd, Jr. trying to bring MGM back to life, complete with 'little munchkin' puppets. This flick is a campy romp--and, on this kind of 'yellow brick road' even Dorothy can come back to life.
The casting is brilliant, and I hope that the audience sees more of the cast-members, who deliver their funniest performances. I would be remiss if I didn't give a special mention of Bruce Dent (for his portrayal of Ricki Johnson), and Joseph Porter (for his portrayal of Tommy Hines).
I usually hate sequels, as well as remakes, but not this sequel. I absolutely love it! I shall have to bake another batch of cookies. I first started baking them with my dear, departed grandma-ma. I rank this flick a 10 out of 10.

So campy and silly, making fun of itself in a sophisticated yet irreverent way. Lot's of laughs at the screening I attended. Good movie! The production values are up to date, especially considering this movie must have been done on a tight budget. I really liked the intro music, that was a fun song. Over all, a goofy movie that will probably be a real hit overseas. And might even become one of those cult classics here in the states. The writing was really superb. My favorite part, save the really stupidly funny puppets dancing around in that way only puppets can. How do these geniuses come up with this stuff? I mean really, it's so stupid and funny, and smart all at the same time. I guess it's a gift. Strange gifts are given sometimes and these film makers got a bonus share.

Yeah, I'm clearly in the minority here, but all I can say is that though this is far from the best film of the decade, the year, the month, or even the day it dropped it certainly is the most fun.
I think a lot of critics take things too seriously, and a lot of low budget movies suffer from the same affliction.
Passion of the Crust doesn't. It thrives from stupidity and ridiculousness and it does so unapologetically. In fact it does it so well that you wonder if the bad acting isn't intentionally bad just to fit the mockery of the genre.
From the Joan Jet rip off Run, Run, Run at the start of the film, to the haunted dildo gag and all through the gingerbread slaughter the jokes are stupid, the music is good, and the plot is insane. How can you not love it?

I remember when I first saw this movies, my expectations were low. The original Gingerdead Man was decent, but it was a little too serious. Luckily, this sequel does it all right and is by far the best in the series! Lots of gross out humor, decent gore, funny kills, hilarious lines, offensive humor, and just an all around riot! The first time I saw this movie, I was laughing my butt off! Saw it a second time, and I still laughed! Movie does a great job of poking fun at Full Moon and internet movie critics and movie fan-boys. The tiny terrors were hilarious! This movie made me have a better appreciation for the original, and now I just want this series to continue. Love the Passion of the Crust!

Trying to complete their day's work, the cast and crew of a low- budget horror movie finds that the budget and crew problems are the least of their worries when the killer doll appears looking to transfer his soul into a new host and forces them to fight him off.
This one here was quite the impressive and truly fun sequel. What really gives this one quite a lot to really enjoy here is the fact that it really goes overboard with the concept of the utterly-cheesy film-studio doing a new movie-shoot of their newest cheese-filled projects. Not only is the type of film being made look quite fun as the opening shoot showing the low-rent dolls materializing and the different cheesy effects coming into play with the whole conjuring up the supernatural feel here being the perfect start to this one generating the kind of start this one really needs, and that indeed comes to pass with the rest of the film as the different scenes showing them going around the different film-shoots around the studio come off as a wholly fantastic example of the cheesiness typical of the film. Getting backstage and going into the different encounters with the group during filming makes for some really enjoyable times here with the cheap, cheesy atmosphere finding itself improving the tone incredibly well and works as the rather fun doll appears and continues to spout the wisecracks here which really gives this one a fun atmosphere. That leads strongly into the film's rather goofy and silly stalking scenes which are quite fun and enjoyable as this one features some strong scenes of it appearing in the dressing room to off the worker there, an incredibly chilling sequence where it goes after the couple in the bathroom and the later scene of it gorily attacking the prop-master which is the film's goriest death and manages to really hold the best part of the film. Likewise, the big action-packed finale where there's the rather overblown special effects work that brings about the other dolls' resurrection and leads into the rather impressive final chapter which is highly enjoyable as it makes for the perfect action-packed, cheesy ending to this type of effort, and along with the fine effects work done here on the titular character gives this one the amount of positives to really make this one hold up. The one real flaw that holds this one back is the rather curious and unnecessary element here of featuring the twist involving the one main character late in the film which is really not that part of the film. It really didn't need to be here and really gives this one quite a disappointing ending with the way it turns everything around when it wasn't necessary to do that and could've worked fine the way it was. It's goofiness might be something that can hold it back for some, but on the whole it's not the biggest detriment to this one.
Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and sexual scenes.
